Chapter 40 Gathering Old Members

Chapter 40 Gathering Old Members
"Mr. Dylan is still at Mr. Victor's headquarters," said a henchman.
"Has he lost? Was he arrested?" I bombarded them with questions.
"Ma'am, please calm down. Mr. Dylan will definitely be back." And that's all they said. No one spoke up to tell what happened at Victor's headquarters when they picked up Mother.
Until morning came, Dylan still hadn't arrived. It feels like something is missing if the homeowner suddenly disappears in a situation like this.
I walked toward my mother-in-law and father-in-law's room. Father is feeding Mother, who is sitting on the bed, and even though his hands are shaking, he is still forcing himself to take care of her. This touches me. Why doesn't Dylan resemble any of them?
"Dad, let me take care of Mom. Father can rest." When I said that, Father turned around, and his beaming face was so different from last night when he came and asked for help for his wife.
"It's okay. Dad wants to take care of Dad's wife." Seeing Father so enthusiastic left me with no choice but to let him feed Mother. I took a position beside Mother's feet on the bed and gently massaged them.
"Don't massage me; you'll get tired." And Mother didn't want to accept my massage; more precisely, she felt awkward around her new daughter-in-law.
"It's okay. Is anyone hurt?" I asked to make sure.
"No one. Father protects mother. Mom was only slightly pushed and dragged around, so my body is a little sore. And before Mother was hurt, Dylan had already helped me. So Mom came back without a single scratch."
"What did Dylan do to get Mom away from Victor?" I asked, Mom must have heard their conversation. Maybe I can find out why Dylan still hasn't come home yet.
"There was a lot of arguing between Dylan and that man. But Dylan asked to be released and offered himself as a hostage. And Dylan's men brought Mother home." My mother's expression left me a little unsatisfied. Dylan went away for hours just to do that?
"Will Dylan make it home?" I suddenly said, as if I were waiting for his return.
"Dylan asked Mother not to worry; he would definitely come home safely. Dylan only said that to Mother," said the mother.
"If that's the case, let's just pray that Dylan can come home safely." Mother rushed to agree with my words. I saw Father's face light up with joy at Mother's return, which was the complete opposite of Mother's worried expression about her son's condition. But the mother tried to stay calm and believed her son's words that he would return safely.
Seeing how calm his parents can be, I should be able to be calm too. Or should I be happy if Dylan loses and doesn't come home at all? What is this feeling? Why am I afraid he won't come back, even though I wanted his death to be at my own hands? Damn, Dylan, my feelings can't waver and change for him.
I was so overwhelmed by my own feelings that I turned down Mary's invitation to practice shooting and Anne's offer to eat. I really don't want anything, and I'm just staying in my room. It was eleven in the morning, and I just realized I had a date with Damian.
I got out of bed and grabbed the earphones he gave me; Damian must be waiting for me. I was so flustered that I even forgot this important agreement.
"Damian, are you waiting for me?" I asked, feeling guilty for calling Damian so late.
"It's okay. I just had a meeting with Collin. And now he's planning to track down the addresses of your father's former subordinates," Damian said, giving a report.
"Thank goodness. How was your meeting with Collin?" I asked curiously.
"Collin turned out to be so young. He's only two years older than us. And the good news is Collin wants to reform the organization with us. He said it was a form of his devotion, because Mr. Egan had been so kind to him, and for him, the feud with Victor hadn't found an end and needed to be resolved quickly," Damian explained.
"Glad to hear this, thank you, Damian. If you weren't here, maybe all these plans wouldn't have worked out. After this, I might trouble you even more." I feel guilty, but I'm grateful for Damian's presence.
"It's okay, I'm ready to help you. Lily also offered help; maybe she'll get involved too," Damian said.
"I'm very grateful to you. I don't know what I should pay with. Even though we're not guaranteed to succeed, and there's a high chance of failure, fighting the mafia carries the risk of being killed if we don't succeed." Again, I feel bad for them. But they are always kind and willing to help selflessly.
"We'll definitely succeed. We will counter their martial arts agility with our brains. I'm sure tactics will prevail. We are also supported by evidence of their crimes. I'm sure we'll win and you'll get your freedom," Damian said, trying to reassure me.
"If that's the case, I'd also like to ask for your help in taking care of my mother. She's the only one I have now. I don't know what would become of me if anything happened to my mother.
"Don't worry. I will tighten security at home. I'm in front of Philip's house now," Damian said. Without realizing it, Damian was already in front of the house of one of my father's men again.
"Good afternoon, may I speak with Mr. Philip?" It seems Damian is speaking to a servant or Philip's house guard.
"Can I know who I'm speaking with first? Mr. Philip doesn't just accept any guest," said the servant.
"I am Damian. I was sent by Mr. Egan's daughter to deliver a message," Damian replied. And the servant asked Damian to wait while he went inside to inform his master.
After a few moments, the servant returned and gave Damian permission to enter. I didn't hear a sound until the voice of a man I thought was not much older than my father finally sounded.
"What made Mr. Egan's daughter ask you to come here?" he asked Damian.
"Mr. Egan's daughter is now being held by authorities from the south. Used as a tool to bring down Victor. And we plan to rebuild the organization that Mr. Egan disbanded to save his daughter."
"Why didn't Mr. Egan ask directly?"
"The story is quite long. But Mr. Egan died at the hands of Victor's men," Damian revealed, and immediately the sound of sobbing was heard.
"How could Egan have died? He's very strong. Victor couldn't even fight him." The sound of sobbing came from Philip.
"That's why Mr. Egan's daughter is also planning revenge and intends to gather all of you."
"If that's the case, I'll go with you. I'll support you." This is a great start; we have two members now.
"And we need to gather the weapons and some of the money that was buried earlier."
