Chapter 38 Victor's Attack Isn't Over Yet.
When I returned to the room with Mary and Anne, I saw Dylan in a huddle with all his men. Some were asked to call medical personnel and treat the injured crew members, while others were asked to be vigilant because the feud with Mr. Victor was not over.
Among the many crew members, only Mary was allowed to follow me wherever I went. I don't know if this is Dylan's kindness or if there's a specific reason behind everything.
When I was just a few steps away from my room, Dylan's phone suddenly rang loudly. And his anger exploded incredibly: "WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY MOTHER?" Dylan shouted, indicating something had happened to his mother.
I held myself back from entering the room; I had to know what was happening with my mother-in-law. "AREN'T YOU SATISFIED WITH MESSING UP MY HOUSE ALREADY?" Dylan's screams already answered my question; my mother-in-law must have been hurt by Mr. Victor and his henchmen.
I walked toward Dylan, ignoring Mary and Anne, who were trying to stop me because they were worried Dylan would get angry with me. And I, being stubborn, still went to Dylan to ask about my mother-in-law's condition.
"What happened to Mom?" I asked worriedly. Although I've only just met Dylan's parents, they've been so kind to me. They also repeatedly apologized for all their son's mistakes, while I didn't get that apology from Dylan. They were too kind, and truly, they didn't deserve to be touched, let alone hurt, by people like Dylan.
"It's none of your business," Dylan said curtly.
"She's my mother-in-law! How can I not worry and not be allowed to interfere?" I can't even help but snap at Dylan. Now all his affairs are my affairs, now all his actions will involve me, so how am I not allowed to know anything?
"Mom was kidnapped by Victor! Are you satisfied?" Dylan's shout was much louder. But instead of being angry, I felt even more worried.
"What about Dad? Bring Father here; don't let them hurt him too," I said.
"Just stay quiet; you don't need to bother. I know what I have to do." Just as Dylan said that, the men ran over to Dylan to report.
"Sir, your father is at the front." Dylan just fell silent, making me half-dead with frustration. Then I ran to see how my father-in-law was doing.
How heartbroken I was when I saw my father-in-law's condition. His face was covered in bruises and blood, his clothes were torn, and he walked toward us, half-conscious and unsteady.
"Dad, how are you able to walk here? Let the crew pick up Dad; you should be waiting." When he was in front of me, Father fell to his knees in front of my feet.
"Please save my wife." Father is crying; my heart is broken seeing this. I even cried while helping my father stand up. Dylan will definitely save his mother.
"Dad, don't worry. Dylan must save his mother." I tried to calm Father.
"How could that disobedient child want to save his mother? EVERY DAY HE HOPES HIS MOTHER DIES!" This is the first scolding a father has given his out-of-control child. Father released all his anger, everything that was weighing on his chest, in a shout.
Dylan was still silent at the far end, even though he knew and could clearly hear what his father was saying.
"I came here to ask for help from Mrs. Daniella. If you have the power, please save my wife. I beg you." Hearing my father's pleas, his only request being that his wife return safely, made me close my eyes, my blood surged, and my chest ached terribly. How can I help my mother-in-law?
When I opened my eyes, my father-in-law was already back on his knees in front of me and holding my legs. I slowly released Father's grip on my legs, then turned and quickly walked toward Dylan. I slapped that disobedient child hard.
Dylan didn't flinch even though I slapped him hard. His face was as cold as his heart. How could he not feel pity seeing his father begging in front of their large house to save his own mother?
"What are you doing, you bastard? Why are you just silent? GO NOW AND SAVE YOUR MOTHER!" I raised my voice, my eyes were burning, and my chest was pounding with anger.
"You can't interfere; you're just a prisoner here." And I slapped Dylan's cheek again, much harder.
"You can torture me, make me your pet dog, and curse me with blood-filled paintings; you're free to do it. But please don't be mean to your mother. Save her; this is all your fault. You have to take responsibility and return that woman to her husband!" I was so angry because I wasn't being listened to that I even cried, whined, and stomped my feet in front of Dylan just so he would leave now to save his mother.
When all efforts failed to move Dylan, I looked back. Father bowed his head, still in a prostrate position, his old body looking very frail and tired.
"That woman deserves to sacrifice herself for me." That damn remark made me turn around angrily. With the gun Mary gave me earlier when Victor first arrived, I aimed it at my stomach with determination. If Dylan won't help his mother, I'll shoot his heir.
"If you don't want to leave now, I'll threaten your heirs," I said, trembling.
"Damn it! Who gave Daniella a pistol?" Dylan was furious, his face now filled with great emotion and fear.Mary knelt in place at this moment, admitting that the gun was given by her. "WHY DID YOU GIVE HER A GUN?" Dylan asked angrily.
"There are too many of Mr. Victor's men. I'm even overwhelmed fighting them. And Anne didn't dare to hold the gun to protect Madam Daniella. So I gave it to Madam Daniella herself to protect her," Mary lied. She lies a little and a lot, but one truth is that I was given this gun so I could protect myself from Victor's men.
Dylan was still weighing his options; he angrily brushed his hair back. At that exact moment, Dylan's phone rang again. I was sure it was Victor calling again.
"Surrender, give yourself up right now, and hand over the leadership of the South to me again, or your mother will die at my hands." The sound could be heard loudly; I'm sure my father-in-law could hear it too. Father looked up, gazed at his son, and rose to approach Dylan.
"Let me be the one taken prisoner. It's okay if you don't consider your mother. I surrender myself as a poor man who wants his wife saved. Please help me, sir." This time, my father-in-law was already willing to humble himself by begging his own son. But Dylan was still silent.
"Damn it, I'll kill this kid if you don't leave now!" I yelled, causing Dylan to kick the large urn, shattering it and scattering pieces across the floor.
"VICTOR BASTARD! YOU DON'T EVEN GIVE ME A BREAK!" Dylan hung up the phone and went outside.
