Chapter 60 CROSSING THE LINE
Chapter 60 CROSSING THE LINE
Sonia’s penthouse was dimly lit, the city lights casting long streaks across polished wood floors.
She sat on her favorite black couch as she sipped coffee, her legs on the resting pad, eyes focused on her system.
The sound of the doorbell being rang startled her, causing her to almost spill the coffee. Wearing her favorite flip flops, she headed for the door only to find him standing there.
She hadn’t expected to hear see him, talk less of him being in front of her door.
And yet… here he was, leaning against the doorway, eyes dark, voice low.
“How did you find my place? And did you have a late night?” Sonia asked, her tone casual, but her pulse betrayed her.
Ricky smirked, stepping closer, closing the distance between them. “I am a Mendez, there is no way I can’t find you when I have the resources." Taking two steps forward, he leaned closer, "about the late night, I could ask you the same thing..”
Sonia’s lips twitched into a faint smile. “Well, your very public confession drove sleep from my eyes?”
“You mean the truth,” he countered. His gaze lingered on her face, lingering in a way that made her chest tighten.
Sonia folded her arms, trying to appear aloof. “Truth has a funny way of making people uncomfortable.”
Ricky chuckled softly, but the warmth in his eyes was dangerous, magnetic. He stepped closer, until the scent of his cologne brushed against her senses. “Comfortable? I’m never comfortable when you’re near. Never.”
Her breath caught. Why does he always do this? Why does he always know exactly which nerve to touch?
“Ricky…” she started, her voice low, almost a warning. “You shouldn’t—”
“I shouldn’t what?” His voice was husky now, deliberate. “Be near each other? Be around you? Talk? Or feel this?”
Sonia’s throat tightened. This… she thought, this fire I feel when I’m near him. The pull I’ve tried to deny for years… it’s still here.
“I can’t control it,” he admitted before he could stop himself. “I’ve tried, believe me. But…”
“Yeah,” Sonia said, her voice barely above a whisper. “I know. Me too.”
There was a long pause. Their eyes locked, a silent battle of wills. And then, without further words, they moved closer, the air thick with anticipation. Ricky reached out, brushing a loose strand of hair from her face, his fingers grazing her skin. Sonia shivered at the touch, heart hammering, panties singing, "hello, its finally Christmas."
“You’re reckless,” she murmured, half laughing, half exhaling sharply.
“And you’re dangerous,” he countered. “You’ve always been dangerous.”
Her pulse spiked. “That’s… not a compliment.”
“Maybe it’s the only one that matters,” he said, leaning in, lips almost grazing hers.
Sonia’s hands found his shoulders, gripping as if to anchor herself, to remind herself that this was impossible. “We can’t,” she whispered.
“I know,” he breathed, “but maybe we don’t have to yet, not tonight.”
The tension between them was unbearable. Every glance, every breath, every subtle brush of his hand against hers was electric. They circled each other, a predator and prey dance—though they were both hunters, both desperate, both caught in the pull.
Ricky’s hand rested on the small of her back, his body warmth against hers. “Tell me you’ve thought about this,” he said, his lips just above her ear. “Tell me you haven’t been thinking about me for years…”
Sonia closed her eyes. I have. I have thought about this every single day. But I’m not supposed to. I can’t…
“I haven't,” she denied softly, voice breaking slightly. “Not at all."
Ricky’s grin turned grim, something in his eyes hardened.
He moved closer until words were unnecessary, and his lips captured hers in a hard kiss that was sure to leave a bruise.
It lasted so long, Sonia started gasping for breath before he released her.
"Liar! Your heart, your body, I am sure your panties down there disagree with you," Ricky stated fiercely, almost possessively.
A trembling laugh escaped Sonia’s lips, the electricity between them crackling louder than the city outside.
Sonia’s fingers tangled in his hair, and Ricky’s hands traced the lines of her back, their closeness sending shivers through her.
She pulled him into her suite and shut the door behind.
There was no denying a starved animal water, and that kiss, had Lit a fire in her, a fire that was burning through her shreds of reasoning.
Minutes—or hours—passed, the world outside disappearing.
No press, no contracts, no vengeance, only them. The penthouse was filled with whispers, laughter, and the quiet acknowledgment of desire that had been simmering far too long.
Sonia pulled back slightly, his hands had somehow found their way to her vagina, cradling, and teasing, testing the limit if her endurance. Resting her forehead against his chest, “we can’t… we have too much at stake,” she murmured.
“I know,” he said, voice deep and low. “But tonight… we’re allowed. Just tonight.”
Her heart raced. Just tonight. That’s all I can give him. That’s all I can allow myself.
They stayed close, sharing stolen touches, heated glances, a silent promise that the line they were crossing was temporary… but the pull was permanent.
“I don’t want to forget this,” Sonia whispered, her eyes meeting his.
“Neither do I,” he replied. “But we have to be smart. And dangerous. Just like us.”
Sonia laughed softly, a breathless sound, full of relief and tension. “Us… dangerous, huh? I like that, it fits the life we’re living now.”
They parted slowly, each lingering near the other, hearts still hammering, minds racing.
The air between them was thick with what-ifs, unsaid confessions, and the undeniable truth: their attraction had evolved into something far more dangerous than either of them anticipated.
“I’ll regret this in the morning,” she said, voice teasing, though her chest heaved and her pulse roared.
“Maybe,” he said, smirking, eyes dark with promise. “But you will enjoy every second of it.”
And with that, the night stretched before them—a dangerous, electric tension that neither could ignore, neither could control, and both knew would define the battles, the desires, and the outcome of the war.
