Chapter 5: Time For Proper Mending

**Kelly Anne's POV:**

I looked down away from all of Jasper's onlookers, totally embarrassed by them seeing me in this condition. This is one of the worst times of Shane's treatment. As I thought about what Jasper said, I didn't know if he was serious, but his tone would not have suggested otherwise. When I thought about it, I knew I was no one special. Hell, I could be considered a nobody to him. So, why would some random stranger want to stop and pick me up? I don't understand why anyone would want to do something like that. I mean, it's not like I meant anything to him for him to want to do what he said and therefore take care of me. Is that even possible?!

When people look at me in my current state, when they see me like this, they should know to avoid someone like me. I know I would avoid someone like me. Seeing me wrapped up with broken limbs, they should know at first glance that I am trouble. Or, at least, that's what they would think of me. There is only one difference about it. That being, I was in trouble and got hurt by someone I was supposed to trust. Not the fact that I am trouble and caused this for myself.

Suddenly, I felt the presence of even more people walking up at that moment. I tried to look away from them towards Jasper's shoulder, hoping they wouldn't judge me at first sight. I was so used to others doing that very thing, time after time before.

"Hey, Boss, you're back," came the voice of a younger male. Then, when I heard his feet stop running, he said, "What the hell happened to her?!"

Jasper took that opportunity to face whoever rushed up as he spoke in a pronounced voice, "Gentlemen, I would like to introduce a new house guest. One who I would hope would like to extend her stay with us, only if she deems it necessary, of course. That is, after she is mended."

"Are you referring to me?" I asked in a whispered tone. I could hear soft chuckles coming from masculine voices standing around. If only I could see exactly how many of them there were at that point.

"We would like that," I heard the younger one add.

"I only wish I could say the same," I whispered to Jasper's shoulder.

The surrounding air got a bit thick due to the awkward silence. That's when Jasper spoke up, trying to ease the tension. "She has had a long day gentleman. Probably even a longer week still. Nonetheless, she is offered the invitation all the same. I appreciate no extra added pressure either." Then he lowered his volume and spoke to where only I could hear him as he said, making sure his lips brushed the side of my ear once more. "We shall talk about your injuries later. That is not for anyone else to know about unless you are the one to say otherwise."

He then turned toward a large structure, proceeding to walk up a great number of steps to the entrance. When we got close, I heard a set of doors opening as he walked inside. It was decently bright inside as light seemed to come from everywhere. Despite that, I tried not to make it suspicious as I looked around though. I didn't like knowing where I was, nor the fact that I could barely see anything, as everything was still quite blurry.

"Here, let's get you settled," Jasper said as he started to walk into another room after I heard more doors being open.

However, this time when I heard the doors open, I heard footsteps of the other people start to walk away. As I turned my head away from his shoulder, I blurrily saw this room seemed to be massive in size. Where exactly were we? He didn't stop walking till he sat me down on the edge of a large bed. I could not believe how this felt! The softness of this bed was heavenly. It had just the right amount of softness to it too, but it was still firm at the base. It gave you the right amount of back support I needed all so much.

"You are welcome to stay in this room while you are here," he said, speaking in his sexy, husky tone that seemed to be rich with passion.

"I appreciate everything you've done for me so far," I said at first. Then, not knowing what to say at this awkward moment, I said, "You know, I am tired."

To be honest, I was exhausted. At least here, Shane nor Nadine knew exactly where I was. Or at least I'd hoped they didn't. I don't think Jasper would want to know about my past history. He might want to know about what happened to me, but other than that, I don't think he was all that interested.

Just then, the side of the bed dipped down beside me, as Jasper reached over, taking my free hand in his, "Do you mind if I ask you a question?" I turned my neck to look toward him, wincing slightly at the sudden pain I felt. It was unbearable to turn very far, but I tried to show my rescuer some respect to a certain point.

"You can ask me anything. You were the one who saved me after all," I whispered.

"I did not want to say anything in front of the guys," he started, telling me. "Only, there is something about you. It feels as if I know you somehow."

What's this? He might have known me from a time before. I tried not to chuckle as his words shocked me, and once again, I tried to clear my throat to cover for it. I don't think I have ever met someone more sexy than this. First, he picks me up like I don't weigh anything, which I know is totally not the case. He has this amazing, husky-sounding voice. If he looked half as good as his voice sounded, then I think I would be all over myself.

I had to look down toward my lap at that moment as I tried to compose my thoughts. Get a grip girl! There is no way he is that interested in you! Just then, I heard someone knocking on the door.

"Excuse me, Boss?" I heard the same younger man's voice speak up.

"Yes, Dimitri? You can come in," he said, turning around to face the guy coming into the room.

"I'm not sure if you need this, Boss, but I brought you the first aid kit. She looked like she needed some extra TLC."

The corners of my mouth started to rise slightly as I looked down at my lap again. I am not used to having others notice a need for me and get something to help. I'm used to doing it all on my own. I don't know if they could see my attempt at a smile with my swollen bulb, but the attempt was made. Then I thought, if only I could see them, then maybe I would know what everyone around me looked like and not fret so much. The last thing that I carry around in my purse is a mirror. There is no telling when Shane would get in the mood to throw things. He especially loved the sound of breaking glass. However, if I did happen to look in a mirror, would I recognize myself?

"Thank you," Jasper said, as the bed moved before he turned back, setting the case down.

"Miss, if you don't mind," Dimitri spoke softly. "We're glad you're here!"
