Chapter 256: Not Your Common Offer

Chapter 256: Not Your Common Offer
Kelly Anne's POV:

Right then, I couldn't help it as I got chills that ran down my spine. It was a sweet thought, but not one that I was expecting Jasper to offer. I mean, when you think about it, we have only known each other for just over a week now, and that all depended on which day it was. That is the last thing I would want or even to expect, for that matter, is to have to soil myself and have someone else clean up after me.

Sure, if a person is out of it and unconscious, then there are steps to take in order to prevent such a travesty. The more I let the thought run through my mind, it actually caused me to shudder a bit. As much as I appreciated Jasper, that is not something that I would want to introduce him to. I would hold it if I had to, and I was thankful that I didn't have the urge to go till now.

However, when I shivered just now, it made me move my shoulders in a way that caused me to wince slightly as I inhaled sharply. I even tried to hide my pain from Jasper as I reached up with my right hand and placed it directly over the front of my left shoulder. In doing this, as I turned away from him, I had originally hoped for the best, that he didn't notice where the pain had originated from.

I can't believe that I would be able to try and hide something like that from him, and actually think that I would get away with it. For a moment, I actually thought that I had succeeded. That is, until I turned to look over my shoulder, seeing him cutting his eyes at me as they were narrowed as he had lowered his chin in my direction.

I couldn't help it in that exact moment as I felt my cheeks flush knowing that I was found out. I blushed, and there was no denying the redness that swarmed my cheeks. This time, I managed to turn away from him, making my back completely face his bare chest. I didn't realize he had taken a step closer to me.

I didn't realize it until he reached out and placed his hands on the sides of my arms right above my elbows, and the sudden touch actually caused me to jump slightly as I looked down to see what it was that had grabbed me. I couldn't help but immediately be defensive and apologetic, according to jumping at his touch, knowing that it was him who touched me.

I immediately tried to turn around, but Jasper held me in that particular spot as he firmly and carefully pulled me back until my shoulders came in contact with the bare muscles on his chest.

"Gentle Meine Liebe," Jasper said softly, his tone deep and husky. I inhaled swiftly, holding my breath for a brief moment before I let it out with a bit of a huff. "It's all right." I inhaled slowly again as I closed my eyes and looked out in front of me. I held this breath for another moment when Jasper spoke, "breathe out through your mouth. Good. Now take another breath and, slowly through your nose. Very good. Now hold onto it for a moment. Excellent. Now, slowly breathe out through your mouth once more."

I was surprised to say the least that it actually worked. Doing as he told me, that is. Then a funny thought occurred to me. If Shane were here and he saw that I actually did something that someone else, other than him, told me to do, I know he would probably shit his pants as he knew that was something I would never do willingly for him.

The only reason why I did anything for Shane was due to the fact that I was nearly terrified of him. He has broken more ribs than I could count. Wait, I need to keep those kinds of thoughts to myself. If Jasper could read my thoughts, that meant that maybe his men could, too.

Hell, there was that one instance I was sitting in the SUV, as we were waiting there to get out. I remember having a thought that came to mind, and I believe it was Stefan who was the one who responded to my thought at that moment. Even though I had yet to say anything at that point, Stefan still spoke up as if he had the ability to read my thoughts then, too.

The more I thought about it, the more I wondered whether Jasper was aware of that fact and knew that his men could read my thoughts as well. What would Jasper say if he knew that his men, or more particularly Stefan, could have an idea as to what I was thinking? Hey, did Jasper have the ability to read the rest of his guys' thoughts, or was it just me?

I couldn't help it as my mind wandered back to Shane for a brief moment. When Shane did all those things to me, causing me to be overcome by fear, I couldn't help but wonder. Did he do everything in the manner in which he did it just to get a rise out of me? A rise more on the fearful side? How could anyone be that cruel?...

I guess the sanity cannot wrap their mind around the insane antics of a moron like my soon-to-be ex-husband. However, I shook my shoulders at the thought. Nonetheless, I did exactly as Jasper had told me to do. I took a breath in when he suggested, and I released it just as he advised me to do.

"How do you feel now?" Jasper said as he leaned down and placed his head beside mine, his hands still on either side of my arms, right above my elbows. He was lightly dragging his thumbs across the softness of my skin, sending even more chills down my arms and making my arm hair stand on end. "See? I can already feel your heartbeat slowing."

"I didn't know that you had such an effect on me," I said through a gentle whisper.

Then I turned to look over my shoulder and up at Jasper. I couldn't help but stare at that small square patch the very moment my eyes got stuck on the injury there on the front side of his right shoulder. Instinctively, I immediately looked down and over to my left shoulder. Then it dawned on me what happened. I knew without him having to say a word. However, before I had the opportunity to speak up and say anything at that particular moment, Jasper spoke up instead.

"Your wound will heal in time," Jasper told me, causing me to look back up at him again.

All the color was drained from my face the moment the realization took over my thoughts. The way I asked my next question, even the tone of my voice, was rather serious. At this particular moment, I gasped. "It was Shane, wasn't it?"
