Chapter 92 - The Unforgiving Luna

"Nice to see you too, Kieran. You look all better"

"I must say the same for you" I said, taking more steps towards him "Especially after killing the King"

I didn't lower my voice when I said that. The Ministers glanced at each other confused.

"Although the King is not here today, it doesn't mean you should spread rumours"

"Why is he not here?" I asked the one who spoke "Were you given a reason? Let me guess, did they say he was ill?" my lips stretched in a grin when I found they didn't really know anything.

"Kieran!" It was the Queen's voice as she barged in "You better not start anything you will regret"

"I haven't even started" I smiled and Fred collected the phone I was holding and passed it to one person who passed it to the others.

Their gasp filled the room and their shocked filled faces were everything as the video on the phone played.

I remembered watching it that day. It started with a conversation between the King and Grayson.

A conversation about me and Hazel when she went missing. They were talking casually in the King's room.

"If she is really the possessor of the pure blood then we should find her first before Kieran does" The King had suggested.

"Now you want to find her? I thought you knew who she was all this while" said Grayson.

The King didn't bother looking at him as he brought another slice of peeled apple to his mouth. "It was only a fleeting thought. I didn't think it'd be her"

"You did a background check on her. You knew father. You just didn't want to hurt her because of your relationship with her father"

The King paused for a minute. Something swirled in his eyes but it disappeared very quickly again and a dangerous look replaced it.

"Jameson was a friend who has sacrificed a lot for me. I still wonder how he could die under my watch and I couldn't find his killer after years"

"You even personally found a spot for him and his wife to be buried. You must care deeply. All this while you were looking for the pure blood, you weren't really going to kill her were you?"

"What are you saying?" The King glared at him "Although Jameson's death came as a shock. The pure blood is not something I can give up on."

"Why?" Grayson raised a brow, watching the King from the side with narrowed eyes "When you die, the throne will naturally be passed on to me"

The King turned his head to look at Grayson when he said that. "You think you'll be King?"

"I will"

"Then I think it's time for you to wake up. I've left you to dream for too long. You're not capable of becoming King"

"Then who is? Your other son, Kieran?"

The King was speechless but he was able to quickly notice the tone in which Grayson was using to speak to him. It was different. Bolder. And without fear like he usually would.

"I would have thought I was talking to a different person if I wasn't seeing you with my own eyes" the King said "I don't plan to give up the throne soon. And if I will, Kieran is a much better option".

"Isn't it just because he's the son of the woman you love? Heh" Grayson chuckled "Poor Mirinder. You had to kill her yourself out of rage but you've regretted it ever since"

"Nonsense!!!" The King banged his hand on the table in anger "Since when were you permitted to talk like this with me?"

Grayson didn't react. His eyes only darkened as he stared at his father, a sickening smile spreading on his face as he replied "Since now"

He stood up and went over to hold the King's chair behind him.

"Actually I wasn't here today to discuss Kieran with you"

With the way Grayson was acting, the King could already figure out what Grayson would say next and he put his hands in his jacket.

"I'm here to take your life"

The King paused in shock. It looked like he was expecting it but he didn't think Grayson would say it so heartily.

The King released a breath, eyes growing dark and dangerous as he sat there perhaps making his calculations.

Just when Grayson was about to come forward, he flung his hand, hitting Grayson and pushing him against the wall.

"You ungrateful bastard! You were hiding all this while" The King stood up.

"What could I do?" Grayson laughed "You always favored Kieran in private and favoured me in public. You think I didn't know it was to deceive everyone as you prepare that bastard son to take the throne! I hate you father. You turned me into this. It's your own fu.cking fault!!!"

Emotions swirled in the King's eyes as he looked shocked and hurt "You vile thing!" He charged forward and Grayson just stood there.

He was laughing. There was no fear in his eyes even as the King got closer. He wasn't afraid even when he knew if the King striked him down, he'd be dead.

He had it all planned out. The moment the King was about to reach him, he paused.

The King suddenly held his chest as pain coursed through him. As if realizing something, he stared at the apple that was still sitting on the table then he looked back at Grayson in shock.

"Yes, Father. It's poisoned" Grayson admitted and the King's eyes widened as he clutched his chest tighter and fell on his knees in front of Grayson.

A mad look entered Grayson's eyes as he brought out a knife from his pocket.

The blade glinted as he stared at it. Just staring at it's wickedly shaped tooth edges could give one goosebumps.

"I'm sorry, Father... I'm sorry" Grayson repeated twice and the next moment, he was stabbing the King. Again, again and again.

The blood splashed all over his face and pooled around them but he didn't stop. He continued to stab even when the King had already died.

The door opened at that moment and the Queen entered to meet this scene.

She gasped in shock but she didn't ask any questions. She quickly helped Grayson wash up and all alone, she pulled up an opening in the marble floor to reveal a secret space where she hid the King's body.

...

I could understand the terrified and shocked look on everyone's faces when they finished. They shivered in fear as they looked at the Queen who's face had turned as pale as a ghost.

"Hold me. I think I might fall"

"The King was dead all this while they didn't let us see him?"

"I thought it was strange too. The mother and son duo are really scary"

"Help. I can't find my voice. What did I just see?"

"We were about to crown a monster as our King"

"Our Kingdom could have fallen"

"We were only seconds away from being tyrannized"

Grayson couldn't have guessed what was on the video. There was shock in his eyes when he stared at me again.

"You came prepared" he told me, his eyes darker than I had ever seen them "It's good. Because none of us are going to leave here alive. I'll make sure of it"

"You should pray for yourself now" Fred came forward and told him but my eyes stopped on Ezra. He was panicking and sweating profusely.

Something was definitely wrong if he of all people looked like that.

"I'll check on the Queen" he said and hurried to leave only, he wasn't even going in the direction of the queen but he was going towards the exit.

I moved to block his way and he was shaking.

"Where are you running to, Ezra. It's not over yet"

"It's over" he breathed "Because of you, we'll all die. I need to go"

He tried to push me away desperately but I held him back. His eyes were filled with fear when I looked at him and it made my brows draw together in suspicion.

"What do you mean by that?"

He didn't get to reply to that as I heard Grayson's scoff at that moment. I turned my head to meet the pleased smirk on his lips as he opened his palms for me to see the button in it.

My eyes widened in utter shock and panic when I realized what it was and my lips parted but I couldn't do anything.

A loud bang reverberated all around us. The ground gave way and everything was all red and black as the whole place exploded!!!

Hazel.......

Hazel's pov.

....

I was still in the middle of convincing the guards when I felt the ground tremble beneath my feet.

"What was that?" Panic reflected through my eyes and even the guards as they moved to open the door but the ground gave way suddenly, followed by a loud sound as everything around us exploded into bits and pieces!!

.....

It was a long time before I opened my eyes again.

Everywhere was a total pitch dark as I tried to stand. The rope tying me around the chair had loosened as the chair had toppled over.

My arms were bleeding and even my face as I tried to stand. Someone grabbed me just then and I whirled around to hit whoever it was.

"It's me. I'll guide you out"

I recognized his voice. It was the leader of the Royal guards.

"W-what happened?" I asked in a shaky voice as my heart continued to pound violently against my chest.

"There was an explosion. Everyone is dead except for us"

"W-w-what?" I stammered, my eyes brimming with tears as I tried to see ahead of me "Kieran...."

"No" I sighed "He's fine. He has to be fine"

I told myself but the fear was eating me up. The fear that everything was over. I survived and he was no more.

It couldn't be. I prayed, I cried and I prayed to the goddess. I prayed he was safe.

"Don't let him die please"

The guard helped me stand properly and though I couldn't see him properly, I'd noticed he was bathed in his own blood from head to toe.

He managed to find something which he used to hit the door trapping us in.

He continued to hit it until it broke and with the last bit of his strength, he pulled it open and called for me to pass.

I hurried towards him and crossed the little space he had managed to create. More tears poured from my eyes when I noticed the dead bodies I had mistakenly stepped on.

"Are you sure they are all dead?"

"I checked them myself" the guard's voice shook and I couldn't help feeling sorry.

They were all his men.

"I'm sorry. This is all my fault yet you're helping me."

He looked away from me and started to limp his way out of the King's room I presumed as nothing was recognizable anymore.

There was more light as we moved and now I could see what was around me outside of this walls.

There were noises as we continued to move and I saw a few people dressed in white.

Some of them knelt to check the injuries of others and some of them were moving the dead bodies out on a stretcher.

While some of the people who made it were crying having lost loved ones. Some were searching for the one's they haven't found.

"Kieran..." I called in my mind. The mindlink didn't go through and the bad feeling continued to eat up away in my chest.

"Please be safe I beg you" I whispered. "I cannot live.... I cannot live without you."

My eyes caught a figure just then and they widened as I knelt next to her.

"Ava?!" I shook her, wondering if she was gone like the others. "Ava, please ..."

No response.

I heard a grunt instead but it wasn't from her. It was from the next person.

"Logan?" I hurried towards him and I couldn't help but notice a lot of familiar faces all lying here as if...

As if they were dead.

"Williams? Amelia?" I checked for breathing signs and I heaved a sigh of relief when I noticed they were still breathing.

They were just passed out.

"Over here" I called for the people in white "There are people alive here"

They hurried over with stretchers to put them in and I checked Ava again.

She wasn't in thesame state with the others. She was...

I breathed out in disbelief as I held her in my arms.

"You can't... Ava" I cried, knowing this was the end. She was gone.

"Hazel" Logan called from behind me. He was all bloody when I looked at him but at least he could walk. He was better than the others.

I hugged him tight and cried on his shoulder. He continued to pat my back down in silence but I couldn't stop crying.

Everything had gone wrong. How could this have happened?

"You need to let them treat you. You're wounded" Logan said.

"So are you" I told him, pulling back and wiping my eyes with my sleeves that now had huge holes on it.

"I have to find Kieran" I panicked the more I thought about him.

Logan's eyes turned sad but he didn't stop me. He patted my hair down and wiped the tears off my cheeks with his fingers as he guided me forward.

I had bruises on my knees but I couldn't even feel the pain as I walked. The pain in my heart was greater everytime I see all of this mess.

"He is supposed to be in the throne room" I said to Logan and he nodded.

"It's quite far from here"

"I know. I can get there faster if you let me walk on my own"

"You don't even know your situation, Hazel. You're in a much worse state than you think. How can I leave you to go on your own?"

I swallowed and just let him guide me.

After a few seconds, I heard a running footstep. It sounded so hurried that I stopped and it stopped too.

I raised my head to look as that familiar scent hit me and my wolf who had never whispered it before, said the words when we were in such a critical condition.

"Mate..." she called out and I found my lips stretching into a smile when I saw him standing there.

He didn't appear to be in a good condition but he was there. He was alive. He was breathing and I could see him for myself.

He was alive.

"Hazel" he called out, breathing heavily as if he had been running for a while. Blood was dripping down his head everywhere but we both didn't care about that.

It was as if something heavy had been lifted off of me.

Logan released me from his hold and I limped and ran my way forward and Kieran caught me in the middle.

His hands wrapped around me, burying me in his warm embrace as I cried on his chest.

"I thought you had left me, Hazel" he told me, hugging me tighter as if he wanted our bodies to meld into one "I thought I had losed you"

I could feel how much fear he felt before meeting me. His body still shook uncontrollably.

"I'm here" I cried "I'm right here"

It was the last thing I remembered saying before my world turned into an endless sea of utter darkness.

Before my eyes closed, I noticed someone appear behind Kieran.

He was a burnt mess but it didn't stop the evil look in his eyes as he managed to make his way forward with a gun pointed at Kieran's back.

Grayson.

All I saw were the corners of Grayson's lips curling into a sinister smirk.

And then,

A bang!
