Chapter 90 - The Unforgiving Luna
When I opened my eyes again, they were staring daggers at the Queen.
"Ahhaa... that was what happened that day?" she smiled "So what? Did you enjoy what you saw? Why are you glaring? I could pick those eyes out right now."
"Right from when he was a kid, you've not only bullied him, but you've tortured him as well, heh" I chuckled, curling my lips "Do you think you would go scot free? Do you think... Raiden can kill Kieran?"
That was right. Even if Raiden now worked for the enemy, Kieran wouldn't let himself die so easily.
"He always comes back alive one way or the other" Grayson surprised me by saying this and I couldn't help the smile that spread on my face. My heart relieved a little as I tried to console myself with that.
"That is why I have prepared a thousand ways to kill him." He continued and the smile on my face faded when I saw someone come in with a suitcase.
It was opened right in front of us and I saw it contained a lot of thin vials, holding liquids in small quantities.
What was that?
Grayson took one of it, his lips curled up as he plunged a syringe in one of them and extracted the liquid.
His eyes then fell on me and I pushed back, fear appeared in my eyes when I stared at the vile liquid he was holding.
"Do you know what this is?" He continued, bringing his face to my eye level "I specifically had it made from the west. It is a combination of some of the deadly venom animals possessed. Prepared by the best, refined and aimed to bring down the strongest of men. A drop of this liquid when digested, kills the wolf first. Isn't that amazing? It took a year to prepare"
Very quickly, Grayson dragged one of his guards to my front.
The guard's eyes were filled with fear immediately as Grayson held him down, eyes fixed on me as he injected all of the liquid into the guard.
The guard howled in pain and Grayson let him go immediately as he crawled the floor with his claws out as if trying to get away from something.
He shook terribly, his screams of agony sounded so bitter and Intense that it made me wonder, what it felt like.
He growled and howled and whimpered at last and then everything turned still.
He was dead.
Grayson burst out laughing as if there was anything funny. He reminded me of a mad man when I stared at him like that.
"Did you see that?" he looked at me "Kieran will have it ten times worse. His death will be slow. Ohh, very slow"
Larissa stepped on the dead guard and reached him just then.
Unlike how she interacted with others, she chosed her words carefully when she talked to Grayson "The others are already waiting but there is a little problem" she went ahead to whisper in his ear and Grayson's eyes narrowed dangerously.
He gave me another glance and walked out of the room hurriedly with the Queen and Larissa and a few of the other guards in the room following behind him.
What did Larissa whisper to him just now? Could it be related to the video Kieran had?
I couldn't tell. I needed to go Kieran as soon as possible so I looked around me.
Now, it was quiet. It wasn't just me though.
There were about ten other people guarding me.
Their outfit and shoes told me they were the Royal guards. The special one's that were summoned only if a calamity was about to happen.
They were summoned only in extreme cases and I guess I was one since they were guarding over me now.
They were the best of the best. Started training before they even got their wolves. It would be hard to take any of them down and then there were ten.
I glanced at the door.
Williams, Logan and the others should be here soon.
I couldn't help but wonder how everything would turn out.
Is Kieran really fine? The ache in my chest had subsided but it didn't completely disappear. Kieran must be feeling worse if I still feel this way.
'He will be fine' Kira told me and I had to agree with her.
I saw one of the guard nod towards another and he moved forward to lock the door.
He went towards the closet and pressed a button. It was thesame button I had found here when I came to steal the King's seal.
The entrance to the secret room opened. It was too late when I figured what they were going to do next as I was taken in there and once again, it closed.
Grayson had indeed prepared very well. Even if Williams and the others came to my rescue, they won't find me.
They also won't suspect I would be in here. What more? The room was well soundproofed.
"Do you have to follow every order?" I looked up and met the eyes of one of the guards but it was as if they were instructed not to talk to prisoners.
He shifted his gaze away from me but that didn't stop me. I once heard the Royal guards acted only on the King's order so maybe it was worth a try. If only I could get through to one of them somehow.
"Have you ever wondered, " I started "If everything could have been a lie
What if the King never chosed Grayson? What if you're working for the enemy without knowing?"
No reply.
"You know, I don't really have to tell you this. I came here knowing fully well that I might die but you all don't know what you're getting into because you don't know the truth"
One of them glanced my way for a second but that was all. He continued to look ahead professionally.
"The King is dead." I said and they glared sharply at me "Before you start to wonder if I'm lying, think about it yourself. Ever since Grayson was announced as successor, have you even gotten a real glimpse of the King? If nothing was wrong, why didn't the King announce it himself in flesh and blood? Why is everything being rushed? It's the first time a coronation is happening at this time of the night and without prior notice. What--"
"You should stop talking now" one of them stopped me but I was seeing the doubt that was starting to appear in his eyes.
"I can't" I said "You all are living beings too and you serve only the King. Not a fake"
"The King is not dead. I'd see him" someone said. It was one that seemed like the leader.
"Did you see his face?" I asked and he shook his head.
"I heard his voice and it doesn't mean anything if I didn't see his face. The King has been sick lately so contact is limited. You can stop your nonsense now."
Nonsense? I smirked.
"What would you do if I'm telling the truth?"
"I'll let you walk out that door" he pointed "If you can prove what you have just said. Claiming the King is dead is another form of treason"
"I hope you keep your promise then" I secretly took a sigh of relief knowing it was too early to but at least it was progress.
