Chapter 116 Chapter 116
Chapter 116 Chapter 116
Laura's POV
The D-Day for the final hearing from the court came. Agatha, Mrs Corazon, Larry and I were present in court with others who simply came to watch the prosecution.
When the judge walked in, we all did the respectful thing as Aaron was brought in, looking ragged and weightless.
My blood boiled with rage and anger as I tried to control myself from where I sat. I couldn't wait for the final hearing to be over and spit on the bastard's face. He would be getting what he deserved anytime soon.
I glanced up when I got warm hands on mine. “Everything will be okay, Sis. Mum must get justice for her death.” My brother, Larry assured beside me, and I nodded with a small smile.
“Yeah, she would.”
Soon, the hearings resumed, and we all watched as Aaron's lawyer kept trying to deny all the evidences pinned on his victim, Aaron, but ours was stronger to identify the wrong.
Eventually, the cases and consequences of actions were read out, and it was time for the judge to give the final hearing.
My feet suddenly became cold, my lips quivered as I held myself tight from where I sat. The hall suddenly became noisy. My eyes slide to the truth box Aaron stood, his eyes lowered to the ground like he was being regretful.
“I hereby sentence Aaron Walker to life imprisonment.” I buckled my feet when the declaration passed through my ears, and tears gathered in my eyes.
Finally... The truth would always prevail. Either one way or the other, it'd always find its way out. A threat so bigger to us would finally be out of our lives. Aaron-fucking-Walker was out of my list... Getting what he deserves at most.
“Mom...” I whispered. “You are finally going to get the justice you deserve.” I continued, tears leaking in my eyes.
“Laura?” I heard Agatha's voice, and when I glanced up at her, I saw her stretching out a hand to me.
“Let's go. It's been done. He is going to perish there forever, and no escaping.” She said as I took her outstretched hand in mine and slowly stood up. Mrs Corazon gave me a low pat on the back, consoling me.
“That's enough. You don't have to shed tears.” she whispered as we wove out of the court.
My eyes instantly caught Aaron being dragged out of the court with the help of some cops. Without a second thought, I marched to him and spat on him like intended.
“Laura!” Mrs Corazon called.
I ignored, glaring so hard at him. “I would have slapped you if I was provided the opportunity to, but that saves you because I wasn't. Well, I hope you rot in there bastard.” I sneered at him.
“You will pay for this! You will pay for this! You will pay!” He kept screaming and swearing as he was being dragged by the cops.
“Sucker!” Agatha hollered.
“Bastard.” I mumbled.
“He deserves it.”
“We should get going. Did you speak with Eric today?” Mrs Corazon asked as we resumed walking towards the parking lot.
“I only saw him leaving once it was dawn, I didn't ask him where he was going to.” Larry answered with a shrug.
“Hmm,” Mrs Corazon exhaled deeply. “I just hope it doesn't endanger himself.” She added.
I was heading to the parking lot with the others when my phone rang. It was a call from Rena. Ever since she went for vacation with Nathan, her fiance, we barely chatted.
“Hey girl!” Her voice thrilled from the other end.
“Rena, what's up?”
“All good. France is obviously the best, I don't think I'm returning back to America.” She squealed, I chuckled.
“You better not dare. You can't run away from your country, Rena. Come back, I'm missing you already.”
“What's up with you? Heard informations from Larry about your Mum's death, and everything that had happened. I'm so sorry for not being present, Laura. To be honest, I was really down when I heard everything. I can feel what you went through.”
I sighed, playing with my nails. “It's all in the past now. Mom's justice has prevailed, and the evil doers are now paying for their crimes.” I said to her. “What's up with Nathan?” I tried to change the topic as Mrs Corazon signalled me to get into our car. Flynn, the driver drove us.
“Nathan is doing well. Getting on different dates with him lately, and my world! It has been fucking awesome! And...” Rena continued to blabber over the phone and that was the more I felt happy.
Speaking to her made me feel whole again. All through the ride, I never thought about Aaron anymore. I continued to smile and laugh, moving with her flow. Indeed, she was a best friend and more.
“Take care of Eric and yourself for me, okay? I can't wait to be a godmother soon!” She squealed again.
I laughed. “Then you better get your ass back to America.”
“Surely, I will.”
It was barely a day when we received the information from the chief officer that Sasha had been imprisoned. Funny enough, Agatha didn't hesitate to throw a celebration party on our victory.
“Gosh, today is actually my best day!” She squealed as she chewed from her barbecue, the house rocking with UP by Cardi B.
“Eric! My son, you are back!” We got distracted by Mrs Corazon as she rushed towards the entrance door and Eric became visible.
“Finally!” Agatha rolled her eyes.
“Mom,” Eric muttered as Mrs Corazon searched him worriedly. “I'm fine, Mom. Nothing happened.” He added.
“I was so worried. You left without anyone knowing.” Mrs Corazon replied.
He suddenly stared at us and when his eyes fell on mine, he paused and said, “Sasha has been caught, and she's facing the law.”
I smiled. “We heard the news. Did you actually do that?”
He shrugged, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Kind of. I did what had to be done.”
“Thank you.” I mouthed, he winked. “My pleasure.” He responded.
“Alright, let's continue the party!” Agatha squealed as we all dived back to resume the party. Laughter, cheers, and chats rented the atmosphere. We became a big happy family, the type where nothing could tear us apart.
At night, the whole family gathered at the poolside, all chatting and giggling. I stayed back, smiling all to myself as I watched them play among themselves.
Home really felt like home.
Mr Landon finally accepted me into his life, and I wouldn't deny the fact that getting a father-in-law was part of the best thing that had happened in my life.
“Hey,” A familiar voice cooed from behind. I tilted my head to the side to see Agatha with two cups of drinks in her grasp.
“How are you doing?” She inquired.
“Healthy, I guess.” I snorted.
“Hey, I just want to tell you thank you for coming into our lives. You changed me, you changed Eric and everyone. You are really a blessing, Laura. I wished I had been nice to you from the start. I'm sorry.” She said aloud due to the loud music from the speaker.
I sighed softly. “It's okay, I forgave you a long time ago.”
“What are you telling her? Fuck off.” We both turned to see Eric approaching us, and I couldn't help but laugh.
“Whatever. She's your wife anyway.” She rolled her eyes and swiftly handed me a drink before walking away.
I gazed at him. “Hey,” I called softly.
Within the blink of an eye, he pulled me into himself, his hands snaked around my waist in a possessive way, and I didn't miss the part to inhale his addictive cologne.
Fuck... I missed him.
“I love you.” I conceded before I could stop myself.
He grinned. “I love you.”
“Without saying more?” I furrowed my brows, and before I could protest, he clashed his lips to mine, taking me to cloud nine. Then he said between my lips,
“How about we go make the baby two, huh?”
Days turned to weeks, and weeks turned into months. Recently, Eric had successfully gotten M&M Corporation as part of his source of net worth and as one of his own after he fired Lily Shaman, Aaron's PA, and was now producing varieties of stocks.
He was widely known across the world, and being a heir to the Sloans' properties had added extra profit to him.
Everything continued to flow smoothly, and when it was the due time for me to produce a heir, labor came and went without a trace of pain.
“Congratulations, your wife has given birth to lovely set of twins.” I heard the Doctor's voice from outside my ward, and joy stirred up in me as I gaped at my two tiny offsprings, their identical set of blue eyes piercing into mine. Eric walked in with joy on his face.
“We are parents.”
“Yeah, we are.”
“Fuck, they are so cute.” He muttered admiringly.
I rolled my eyes. “No swear words, remember?”
“Oh, my bad, sweetheart.” He winked, and we both erupted into a laughter. Sooner, the whole family gathered upon hearing the good news and rejoiced excitedly.
Rena returned to the country lately after passing a congratulatory messages to me, and together we glowed like BFF.
My home became full and peaceful. Ever since, I knew no bound and experienced how it felt to be loved.
And we lived... HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
