Chapter 101 Side Story. Chapter 8
In that tender moment, they found solace in each other's arms, the weight of their shared destiny forging an unbreakable bond. Sleep came easily that night, as their dreams were painted with visions of a future blessed with love, laughter, and the pitter-patter of little feet.
As the sun rose the following morning, casting its golden rays upon the palace, Devon awoke with a renewed sense of purpose. He knew that preparations must be made to ensure the safety and well-being of their unborn child. With unwavering determination, he set his plans in motion.
Skilled artisans were summoned to create a nursery fit for royalty, where every detail was thoughtfully crafted. Soft pastel hues adorned the walls, and delicate mobiles danced overhead, whispering lullabies in the breeze. Each plush toy and embroidered blanket held a piece of their love, waiting to embrace their child in warmth and comfort.
Devon also ordered a strengthening of the kingdom's defenses. He assembled the finest strategists and commanders, mapping out strategies to protect their land and people. Guards were stationed at key points throughout the castle, ensuring an impenetrable fortress for their growing family.
The news of the Queen's pregnancy spread far beyond the palace walls. Throughout the kingdom, a wave of joy and celebration washed over the hearts of the people. The streets buzzed with whispers of anticipation, and smiles adorned the faces of both commoners and nobles alike. It was as if the promise of a new life infused the air with an undeniable sense of hope and optimism.
As the days turned into weeks, Maya's belly grew round and full, a visible testament to the miracle of life within. She reveled in each gentle kick, cherishing every flutter that connected her to the tiny being she carried. The palace was abuzz with preparations, with servants and well-wishers showering her with love and blessings.
Amidst the joyful chaos, Devon and Maya stole quiet moments together, relishing the intimacy of their shared journey. They would sit by the window, hand in hand, watching the sun sink below the horizon, casting an ethereal glow over the kingdom. In those moments, they would speak to their unborn child, sharing their hopes, dreams, and unconditional love.

Months had flown by, the passage of time evident in Maya's enlarged belly as her due date approached. The Queen's once graceful movements were now hindered by the weight she carried, causing her a great deal of anxiety. Excitement and nervousness intertwined in the hearts of the Royal couple as they anticipated the imminent arrival of their child.
Devon rarely strayed from Maya's side, his devotion evident in his tireless efforts to care for her and ensure her comfort. Despite the challenges they faced, he personally attended to her every need, a pillar of strength and support. Maya cherished his presence, grateful to have such a compassionate and attentive man by her side.
One morning, as Maya walked around the king's chambers, her growing belly making each step a bit more cumbersome, she confided in Dexter. "The doctor said I'll be due any minute now. I feel so heavy," she moaned, her voice tinged with both exhaustion and anticipation. Rising from the bed, Dexter joined her, his hands gently cradling her belly, providing relief from the weight she carried. Maya leaned into him, finding solace in his touch. "That's more like it," she whispered, her eyes closed, the tension easing from her body.
"You're doing well, Maya," Dexter murmured, pressing a tender kiss to her hair. Maya released a contented sigh, the comfort of his presence washing over her.
"I'm scared, Dexter," she confessed, her voice tinged with vulnerability.
"You'll be fine. You don't need to worry about anything," he reassured her, his voice filled with conviction. Assisting her to sit in the rocking chair he had specially crafted for her, he reached for her hands, bestowing gentle kisses upon them, his gaze filled with tenderness.
"I don't want to leave you, but I have duties to attend to. I hope you don't mind," Dexter explained, a touch of concern in his voice.
Maya shook her head, a small smile gracing her lips. "No, I don't mind. I'll be here all day," she responded, her words laced with understanding and acceptance.
"Okay," Dexter murmured, his voice filled with a mixture of longing and responsibility. Pressing a loving kiss to her forehead, he collected his cloak and crown, bidding her temporary farewell as he left the chambers. Maya sighed, her hand caressing her belly, a gentle smile playing on her lips.
"Just come out already," she playfully cooed, a chuckle escaping her lips.
As Maya went about her daily duties, assisted by her attentive maids, the anticipation continued to build. However, that anticipation turned to alarm as a sudden pinch jolted through her belly. Moments later, a trickle of fluid ran down her legs, and the telltale signs of labor began. Maya's eyes widened with a mixture of surprise and intensity as she clutched her belly, waves of pain surging through her.
"Quick! Fetch Rosa and the doctors!" she cried out to the nearest maid, her voice tinged with urgency. "I'm going into labor!"
Some of the maids quickly scurried out of the room, while some stayed to help the queen get comfortable before she begin delivering her child.
Finally, the baby is here.

Moments later, as the gathered individuals anxiously awaited the queen's delivery, worry etched across their faces, none more apparent than in King Dexter. He paced relentlessly outside the king's chambers, his steps coming to a halt every time Maya's screams pierced the air. Frustration gnawed at him as he was denied entry, the restraint driving him to the brink of madness.
"Call Dexter, call the King!" he heard Maya's agonized voice resonate from within, causing him to freeze in his tracks before lunging toward the chamber door, poised to wrench it open. Before he could reach it, however, the door swung open, and a maid hastily emerged.
"The queen requests your presence," she began to say, but Dexter brushed her aside, rushing inside to be by Maya's side. She lay upon the bed, tears streaming down her face, her forehead damp with sweat, her features contorted in pain. As Maya caught sight of him approaching, a gasp of relief escaped her lips.
"You're here... you're here..." she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude, her eyes shimmering with tears. But her expression twisted once more in anguish as another contraction gripped her. "It hurts, Dexter... it hurts."
Dexter knelt beside the bed, firmly grasping her hands, his unwavering gaze fixed upon her. "I'm sorry, Maya. You're strong. You can do this," he murmured, gently wiping away the perspiration from her brow.
"I don't think I can... Aaaah!" she screamed, as another wave of pain coursed through her, her breaths becoming shallow and rapid.
Dexter turned to Rosa, seeking answers. "What's wrong?" he inquired urgently.
"She's pushing, but it's not enough to deliver the baby," Rosa replied. Dexter nodded, then shifted his attention back to Maya.
"Is this position comfortable for you?" he asked, his concern evident. Maya immediately shook her head.
