Chapter 346: His Prey
“Aidan, what’s going on?” Alison demanded, her voice sharp with unease.
“Nothing. Just stay home and rest for a few days.” Aidan forced a smile.
“Pull over! You have to tell me what’s going on!” she shouted, sensing his calm was a mask for fear.
The car abruptly pulled over to the curb as traffic roared past.
Aidan rolled down the window, letting the wind carry a sharp breath of exhaust and tension into the cabin.
“Your photos… will be posted online at two this afternoon,” he confessed, his voice breaking.
“Aidan, who told you?” She gasped, her face paling.
“I’m sorry. I checked your email without permission.”
“Aidan, I’m not going home.” She unbuckled her seatbelt and flung the door open.
If the photos leaked, Gabriel would be in danger.
“Alison, where are you going?”
“Back to the office!” she shouted, running down the street, heart pounding.
“Alison, get in the car! I’ll drive you!”
That email hadn’t just threatened exposure — it had promised to sell her, body and soul, overseas.
His heart raced with a premonition of impending disaster.
But Alison ignored him; all she could think of was Gabriel.
She passed a phone booth, her mind fixed on warning him before it was too late.
However, after taking only a few steps, she was blocked by several men.
“Alison!” Aidan rushed out of the car.
But it was too late — Alison was dragged into a waiting sedan.
Then the car sped away.
“Alison!” Aidan sprinted after them, but was soon left far behind.
Panting, he ran back to his car, jotted down the license plate number and its direction, and slammed the gas pedal to give chase while dialing 911.
However, after chasing for two blocks, he found the car parked by the roadside with the doors wide open — empty.
Alison had been kidnapped right under his nose.
As the police cars arrived, a black motorcycle screeched to a halt.
“Where’s Alison?” Gabriel lunged at Aidan, grabbing him by the collar.
Aidan could only shake his head helplessly.
“Damn it!” Gabriel punched him hard, rage exploding through him.
Then, he turned away in anguish, mounted his motorcycle, and sped off.
Meanwhile, inside the fleeing car, Alison’s captors tightened their grip.
As soon as she got into the car, her mouth was covered, and her hands were bound.
After driving only two blocks, she was surrounded by the men and transferred to another vehicle.
“Mmm…” She whimpered softly.
Suddenly, the man beside her answered a ringing phone.
His words startled her — the voice on the other end wasn’t Matthew’s. It was Pierre’s.
After hanging up, the man instructed the driver,
“Be careful. If you run into Mr. Matthew’s men, get out of their way. Don’t let them take this girl. Understand?”
“Understood.” The driver nodded.
The car sped along, and the ride grew bumpier, clearly turning onto dirt paths.
“Ugh…” Alison whimpered, desperately struggling to break free.
She wanted to escape, knowing Pierre would definitely take her there.
