Chapter 293: Please Behave Yourself (Part 1)
“What if I don’t?” Pierre sneered.
“Then we’ll both go down together,” Colton declared.
He ripped open his coat to reveal a belt of explosives strapped around his waist.
“What a fearless fool. Alison, you sure know how to attract men. Were you with him that night in the garden?” Pierre’s jaw flexed as he remembered the prey who’d slipped through his fingers — his tone turned sharp.
Alison smiled.
“Pierre, I can answer you now.”
Pierre thought she had finally agreed to be with him.
He blurted out, “Go ahead. If you say yes, we’ll leave immediately.”
“Haha, Pierre, you’re dreaming! My answer is no! Don’t bother showing me the video first; just upload it online.”
Her words made Pierre darken with fury.
Seeing the explosives strapped to Colton, he hesitated.
Just then, sirens blared outside the parking lot.
Pierre’s men all turned to him.
Should they go or not?
Pierre remained calm.
“Edward, go check. Was it Gabriel who called the cops?”
He secretly hoped it was Gabriel, so he could use it as leverage against him.
Yet, Colton chimed in,
“Mr. Bruce, it’s me who called the police.”
Pierre was utterly disheartened.
By then, police cars were already approaching the parking lot entrance.
Pierre waved his hand helplessly and declared,
“Let’s go!”
The group quickly slunk into the car.
As the police car passed, it brushed right by Pierre’s vehicle.
Pierre didn’t want to confront Gabriel without evidence, lest he face his father’s reproach.
Alison finally exhaled in relief and slumped against the car.
Colton rushed over and snatched Pierre’s jacket off, wrapping his own coat tightly around her.
He asked with concern,
“Alison, are you okay? How did you get involved with Pierre?”
“Colton, thank you. But…”
She pointed at the explosives strapped to his body; terror filled her face.
“How did you get these?”
Colton chuckled and reached up to remove the explosives.
“Don’t worry; they’re fake. If they were real, would I dare wear them openly with the police here?”
“Then how did you know I was here? Why did you know something happened to me?”
“I got a text message,” he told her honestly.
“A text? Let me see it,” she urged.
Colton showed her his phone.
The screen displayed a brief message:
[Pierre’s men are here. They’re after your sweetheart — Alison.]
A wave of gratitude washed over her as she read the message.
She tried to dial the sender’s number, but the phone was turned off.
Clearly, the sender didn’t want to reveal their identity.
Just then, police officers surrounded them.
Seeing how disheveled Alison was, the officers asked,
“Where are those men?”
“Gone,” Alison replied curtly.
“Officer, could we skip going to the station?” Alison declined politely.
She could tell these officers had no intention of pursuing Pierre; she didn’t want to waste time.
“Well, it’s…” the officer replied, looking troubled.
“It’s perfectly fine. Nothing happened. You can go now,” she said, tugging Colton by the wrist.
“Colton, I want to go back to Rebel.”
Her mind kept circling back to the person who had texted her. Who could it be?
“Are you crazy, Alison?” Colton tried to dissuade her.
“What’s there to fear? Pierre’s gone. I want to know who sent you that text,” she insisted.
“You really don’t plan on going to the police station?” the officers asked.
“No,” Alison said without turning back.
“But Mr. Harvey filed a report. We need to take his statement. How else can we account for this?” the officer pressed.
Alison nudged Colton.
“You go with them to give your statement. Meet me at Rebel in a bit.”
Before Colton could refuse, the officer stepped forward.
“Mr. Harvey, we can take your statement right here in the car. It’ll only take a few minutes. It won’t take long.”
“Fine.” Colton nodded reluctantly.
Alison strode back to Rebel.
Her high-heel strap had snapped, so she carried it in her hand as she walked barefoot toward the club.
The doorman recognized her.
Seeing her disheveled state, he hesitantly stopped her.
“Ma’am, you can’t come in. Your dress is…”
Alison was seething with rage.
She swung her hand and slapped the man in the face.
“The police are in the parking lot!”
She roared,
“Do you want me to tell them this is all thanks to your Rebel?”
The young man fell silent immediately.
Just then, Ryan appeared at the door.
He signaled for the man to let her through.
Alison ignored him, striding straight toward Rebel.
In the lobby, the spot where she had sat earlier had been cleaned.
“I need to see Gabriel.”
She felt certain that everything she had endured that day was connected to him.
Pierre had instructed Edward to find out if Gabriel had called the police.
She wanted to know who Gabriel really was — and why Pierre believed he had.
