Chapter 265: "He Will Return" (Part 1)
If Alison hadn't witnessed it herself, she would never have believed that Rock had let Jack fall into the water.
"Rock, give me back Jack!" she roared, charging toward the piano.
She felt uneasy, realizing she'd fallen into a trap.
Rock rose slowly, turning toward Alison with a smile.
"Miss Fairchild, you've come too. To celebrate Emily's birthday?" He said, extending his hand naturally to take Emily's.
"Rock, who is she?" Emily asked.
"Oh, this is Alison Fairchild, my third brother's wife. You two even resemble each other a bit," Rock replied.
Whispers rippled across the deck as Emily and Alison were too alike.
Emily glanced at the soaking-wet Alison and instinctively stepped back, landing against Rock. "Rock, why is she such a mess? Get someone to take her to change her clothes. I don't want a wet woman at my birthday party."
Alison was furious.
She lunged forward, reaching to grab Emily by the collar.
Before her hand could touch Emily, Rock swung his arm out and knocked it away. "Don't touch Emily. She's allergic."
His face showed his protective care for Emily.
This scene had already drawn the attention of everyone.
Alison asked, "Rock, where's Jack? I clearly saw him get out of the car and board this yacht."
"Rock, who is she talking about?" Emily looked at Alison, confused.
"Jack. The younger brother of the man standing beside you." Alison deliberately emphasized the word "brother."
"Alison, what are you talking about? I had no idea Jack was here." Rock smiled.
"I saw Jack get out of the car and board this yacht with my own eyes. Now he's gone. Did you harm him and throw him overboard?"
Rock released his arm from around Emily's shoulder.
His tone was laced with mockery. "Jack never set foot on this yacht. You must have mistaken him for someone else. Tell me, what was he wearing?"
He walked toward her. The neon lights on the deck illuminated his face. For a moment, she thought it was Jack, not Rock. But she snapped back to reality, finally understanding the intent behind his question.
Rock was now dressed in a white suit, too. At first glance, he looked like another Jack.
She had fallen into their trap after all. No wonder no one had stopped her from boarding the yacht—they wanted her to give up hope.
"What kind of car were you driving back then?" Alison pressed.
"A Lamborghini. Jack and I bought it together. Why? Are you interested in that?"
"What color?"
"Black."
"Haha..." She burst into a wild laugh.
"Someone take Miss Fairchild to the lounge to change. It's freezing out here—don't let her catch a cold." Rock spoke, and two waitresses approached, ready to escort Alison to the lounge.
She pushed them away and said coldly, "It won't be necessary. I should leave. And I will remember everything that happened today."
She looked disheveled. Not only had she failed to find Jack, but she had also fallen into Rock's trap. This caused those on deck to believe that she had mistaken Rock for Jack.
Turning away, she walked with her head held high.
"Rock, I'm so scared," Emily said in a weak voice from behind her, sounding nothing like the rebellious girl.
In that moment, Alison doubted that this girl was even Emily. Her demeanor and expression were completely different from the girl she'd seen on the road that day.
Returning from the deck to the road, Alison saw a little girl waiting there alone.
When she spotted Alison, she ran forward and threw herself into her embrace.
"Good girl, don't touch me. My clothes are wet."
"Miss, here's your bag."
Alison took the bag and asked, "Sweetie, what's your name?"
She stroked the little girl's cheek tenderly.
