Chapter 211: So Beautiful
“Will you give me many more children?” Jack asked.
“Okay.” Alison agreed. His gifts had already won her heart, leaving her unable to refuse.
She pointed to a twinkling star in the night sky and agreed again. “Jack, that’s me.”
He smiled. “Then that one next to it is me.”
“No way! Why do you have to be wherever I am?”
“Because you can’t live without me.” He whispered sweetly.
Her cheeks flushed. “Jack, stop sweet-talking me. I don’t buy it.”
He kissed her hand. “Time will tell you everything.”
In the quiet night, they gazed up at the starry sky.
Suddenly, a phone rang.
“Jack, your phone is ringing.”
Jack reached for the phone on the bedside table, glanced at the number, and picked up. “So late? Is there news?”
“… “
“Got it. Go ahead. Don’t make any rash moves yet.” There was a hint of excitement in Jack’s tone.
“Jack, who was that?” she asked curiously, thinking that he might have found a lead on that person.
“Sweetie, go to sleep now,” he murmured.
“Tell me, please,” she said.
“Fine, I’ll tell you.” He leaned close to her ear and whispered, “Go to sleep, or I’ll take you again.”
She closed her eyes instantly, her face radiating happiness.
The next morning, Alison sat in the living room watching Sophia and Ethan run around.
“Alison, your cooking is amazing! How did you do it?” Jack asked.
She smiled gently. “Nothing special.”
“Ah, I get it now — it was made with love.”
“So without love, it wouldn’t taste good?” she asked, feigning annoyance.
“Of course not! I love everything you make.” He smiled and leaned in to kiss her cheek.
Just as his lips were about to touch hers, a flash went off.
“Click!” Ethan had captured the moment Jack stole a kiss from Alison.
Holding the camera, he checked the photo.
Sophia leaned in curiously.
The two kids pressed their heads together and studied the camera screen intently before shouting, “Wow, Daddy! This photo is beautiful! You were kissing Mommy!”
Alison’s cheeks flushed. “Jack, how could you…”
“Why not?” He pulled her close, cupped her face, and kissed her deeply.
“Go, Daddy!” the two little ones shouted in unison, siding with their father.
Alison blushed. “Let go of me! Doing this in front of the kids is just…”
“I’m just reassuring them. Otherwise, they’ll always worry that you’ll leave me again.” He finally let go of her with a smile; his words sounded perfectly justified.
“You…” Alison was wordless.
“Sophia, Ethan, go play outside! I have something to tell Mommy!” He tried to distract the children, hoping Alison would focus more on him.
“Yay! Sophia, come on!” Ethan called excitedly to Sophia.
“Okay!” Sophia responded, and the two children scampered off to ride the horses.
Soon, only Alison and Jack remained in the living room.
Alison recalled Jack’s kiss in front of the children; her shyness lingered.
“Alison, what’s wrong?” Jack shook her hand.
“It’s all because of just now…” She didn’t finish her sentence before he cut her off.
He kissed her, sucking deeply. “Is this better?”
“Jack, you’re such a rascal, always teasing me,” she grumbled.
He turned her averted face to meet his.
“Alison, this week, I…” He trailed off.
“What? I’m tired and going to bed.” Alison pretended to be unwilling to hear more.
He quickly grabbed her arm. “Alison, wait. I need to tell you something. I want to take you to meet my grandfather and mom this week.”
“So soon?” Although she had never asked about his family, she had followed reports about them through the media.
She was genuinely worried that his grandfather and Isabella wouldn’t accept her.
“Alison, bring Sophia and Ethan back with you. I think they’ll want to meet you.” He didn’t want to wait any longer.
“Will they accept me because of Sophia and Ethan?” She still hesitated. She knew that being with him meant that this path wouldn’t be smooth.
“They definitely will. They adore children. Sophia and Ethan are my kids.”
“Jack, ask Isabella and Grandpa first. We’ll proceed only after they agree.” Alison felt uneasy – — Aimée was causing trouble daily, and Isabella couldn’t be having an easy time. Accepting her so soon seemed unlikely.
“No need. Just go visit them.” He was afraid they might refuse.
“Jack, isn’t this a bit rude?” she objected. “Honestly, I think things are fine as they are. We’re together now. Time will soften everything.”
She didn’t care about making the relationship official; she just couldn’t bear to put Jack in such a difficult position.
“It’s no big deal. That’s my family too. Taking you and the kids back is only natural.” He smiled, his tone calm.
Deep down, she knew he must have required tremendous resolve.
