Chapter 160: Goodnight, Baby

Chapter 160: Goodnight, Baby
“Get out. Thank you for telling me all this.” Aidan’s tone was cold.

He loved Alison, but he refused to stoop to Aimée’s schemes.

He knew she was a selfish woman who had once even thought of ending her own pregnancy.

“Aidan, what do you mean? Don’t you want to fight for the woman you love?” Aimée sat in the car, stunned that he would treat her this way. Her hand drifted to her belly, still torn about whether to keep this baby—her only bargaining chip to hold onto Jack.

“Nothing. We’re on different paths. The woman I want, I’ll pursue her openly. So please get out. I don’t need your help.” He opened the door and motioned for Aimée to exit.

“Aidan, do you want me to hail a cab back?” Aimée asked. But this was a deserted stretch of road, no taxis anywhere.

“Whatever.” He already regretted ever coming out with her.

“Aidan, if you keep being so timid, you’ll never get the happiness you want,” Aimée said.

“That’s my business. Get out,” Aidan snapped.

Aimée retorted, “Aidan, I’m carrying your baby.”

Aidan’s heart clenched. He took a deep breath, then steeled his resolve.
“Terminate the pregnancy. Keeping it will only bring the child suffering.”

He had been wavering, but now his decision hardened—he wanted it gone.

After all, this pregnancy was Aimée’s scheme.

Aimée panicked at his words. “You… what did you say?” Uneasy, she sensed Aidan might already know something.

“Nothing. But remember, you can’t hide the truth forever. Get out,” Aidan said.

“You…” Aimée glared fiercely at Aidan. This was the first time he’d ever spoken to her like this.

She wasn’t sure if Aidan knew about the child yet; if he did, this matter could easily blow up.

Aimée stepped out of the car, her mind in turmoil.

She staggered on her heels and nearly fell.

Seeing this, Aidan shouted urgently, “Careful!”

That baby still tugged at his heartstrings.

Aimée suddenly turned back.
“Aidan, you still care about me, don’t you?” She stared intently at him, trying to read his expression.

Aidan merely glanced at her belly. “I just don’t want anything to happen to the baby. Goodbye.” With that, he drove away, leaving Aimée alone.

He made up his mind to be ruthless. But after driving a dozen meters, he stopped, seeing her wobbling in her mid-heel shoes.

He sighed, turning the car around.

“Get in,” he said coldly, though he regretted coming back.

“Why did you come back?” she asked curiously, a flicker of unease stirring within her.

“Get in. We’ll talk in the car,” he insisted.

“Do you already know something?” she asked, lifting her chin, though her heart raced with anxiety.

“Aimée, if I told Jack right now that you were running around in high heels during your bed rest, what would he think? Wouldn’t he assume you don’t actually want this child?” he probed.

“You…” Aimée was rendered speechless.

“Get in the car. I have no patience. I might call Jack to pick you up,” he threatened.

Gritting her teeth, Aimée climbed back into the car and said resentfully, “Aidan, you’ll regret this.”

“Whatever,” he said indifferently.

Aimée clenched her jaw, staring straight ahead.

If it weren’t for Jack, she would never have revealed so much.

She watched the scenery outside the window. Suddenly, an idea struck her. She turned to Aidan. “Next week is my mom’s birthday. You should come over.”

Aidan was about to refuse, but he finally agreed, “Alright, I’ll come.”

“Forget today. I don’t want to upset Jack,” she pleaded, worried it would damage her marriage.

“Aimée, I don’t know what you’re afraid of. We’re here. Get out,” he said.
