Chapter 159: No Longer Alone (Part 2)

Chapter 159: No Longer Alone (Part 2)
Jack gently traced Alison’s cheek with his fingertip, moving slowly until she sensed it and woke up.

Drowsy, Alison looked at him and mumbled, “I’m still sleepy.”

He declared, “Go sleep in the car. I’ll carry you there. We’ll watch the sunrise together.”

With that, he bent down, scooped her up, and carried her straight to the car, ignoring her protests.

Resting her head on his shoulder, she soon found herself wide awake.

Watching the sun rise above the horizon, her heart swelled with emotion. He tightened his arm around her shoulders and said tenderly, “Alison, marry me.”

He wanted to be responsible for their two children—he couldn’t let them grow up without a father.

Under the sunshine, she smiled softly. “Let’s talk about it when we get back.”

“Alright,” he answered gently.

Six days passed quickly, and they had to return to their routine life.

Jack drove, and Alison sat beside him. The children fell asleep in the car.

He said, “Tonight, let’s stay at the apartment.”

“Jack, can you give me more time?” As soon as they left the park, unease returned—afraid the happiness would vanish once they were back.

“Alright, I won’t rush you,” he said gently, not wanting to unsettle her. “But I’ll come see you and the kids every day.”

She nodded, gazing out the window.

Life returned to normal the very next day.

That evening, Jack came to play with the children for a long time. After tucking them in, he took her hand and said, “Alison, you have to send me off.”

She smiled, still feeling it was a dream.

Hand in hand, they walked out of the small building to his car. He said, “Do you know how long it took me to find your place? Aidan and I were fooled by you back then.”

Alison was a bit awkward. “I was afraid…”

She was afraid he would take her children away. But now, he didn’t—it released her.

The night was hazy, distant streetlights flickering faintly.

He led her to a tree and gently lifted her chin.

He leaned down, pressing a kiss to her lips, then pulled back, savoring her blush.

It made him crave her irresistibly, but he’d promised her he wouldn’t touch her for now—not until she grew accustomed to his presence.

After getting into his car, he kept looking back at her, clearly reluctant to leave.

She smiled. “Go now. Good night.”

He waved, pressed the accelerator, and the car slowly pulled away.

Alison stood there in the night, watching his car disappear from view. Only after a long while did she turn back.

In another car nearby, a pair of eyes shone in the darkness.

A woman spoke to the man beside her, “Aidan, look. That’s Jack. He snatched the woman you loved and abandoned the fiancée.”

Aidan said nothing, merely started the engine.

He had never believed Jack would do that.

He was going mad. After tasting the sweetness of love, he suddenly learned a cruel truth, and his heart was filled with bitterness.

He knew Aimée had done this deliberately, yet he couldn’t blame her. The child growing inside her was his.

This sudden revelation was unbearable. He drove like a madman.

“Aidan, are you even a man?” Aimée’s cold gaze fixed on the window.

“Aimée, I’ll take you home first. I need some time alone.” Aidan’s mind was in turmoil, and Aimée’s mockery couldn’t sway his decision.

“Fine, but I hope you keep your head clear. That’s the only way to reclaim what you want. If we work together, that woman will still be yours.”

The car abruptly came to a halt.

Aidan snapped to his senses—the woman beside him was too cunning. She was carrying his child, yet she threatened Jack to marry her.
