Chapter 153: No Way to Deal with Him (Part 2)

Chapter 153 Can't Do Anything About Him (Part 2)

"Alison, what do I gotta do to make things right?" He held her tight, scared she'd bolt any second.

"Make things right for what? There was never anything between us."

"The kids, Sophia and Ethan, they're mine."

"No, they're Aidan's."

"You're lying." He tightened his grip, turning her to face him.

In the dim light, he looked at her familiar face, realizing she wasn't just a stand-in for Emily. She was unique, just herself.

"I'm not lying. The kids aren't yours." She struggled, but he was too strong.

"They are mine. Their birthday is in just over twenty days. I did the math. It was that one time. You can't fool me." He had checked hospital records and researched childbirth timelines online. There was no mistake.

"No, their birthday is two months later." She tried to bluff, but he wasn't buying it.

"What's this?" She asked, looking up.

"Where did you get this?" She pressed.

"A copy of the original document. How do you explain this?" He stared at her intently.

She had no words, unable to deny it. "Even if the kids are yours, so what? You have so many women. There could be your kids in every corner of the city. Jack, are you addicted to claiming children everywhere?" She said angrily, finding him particularly annoying now.

"Alison, stop lying to yourself and to me. Let me take care of you, okay?" He looked at her seriously, feeling sorry for her past experiences, all the pain he had caused.

"No, I hate you. I don't like you." She turned her head and bit his arm hard, as if to vent all her grievances on him.

It hurt, but he smiled and didn't push her away or pull his arm back, letting her bite.

She bit down hard. It was the first time she had bitten him like this.

After a long while, she let go, her teeth feeling weak.

She slowly moved her teeth away, seeing the deep red mark and the blood seeping from his arm. She had used all her strength.

But he didn't cry out, letting her bite.

He looked at her, a faint smile on his face, like a spring breeze brushing over her heart, slowly dissipating her resentment.

Under her gaze, he offered his other arm to her mouth. "Alison, if you're still upset, you can bite this one too, okay?"

His arm was already close to her lips. A gentle bite would leave another blood mark. But her lips just lightly touched his skin without applying pressure.

"Jack, you're so bad." Her anger melted away because of his smile. How could she bear to bite him again?

"Alison..." He saw the familiar gentleness in her eyes, just like four years ago. He gently embraced her, and she fell into his arms, leaning against him, breathing in his scent. In the end, she softened.

They leaned against each other in silence.

"Alison, can we talk?" He broke the silence.

She still didn't respond, blaming herself for softening again.

"If you won't talk, then I'll talk." He started speaking to himself.

She remained silent.

He suddenly bent down, lifting her up and settling her comfortably on his lap on the lounge chair. They gazed at the starry sky together, the night as gentle as water. This place was perfect for dreaming, and the atmosphere he created made Alison even more entranced.

He began to speak softly about the past. "Back then, you were so gentle, like a little wife waiting in the apartment. I often felt like that was my home. But that day..."

"Shh..." She interrupted him, not wanting to dredge up those painful memories. If he truly regretted it, she would forgive him for now.

"Okay, I won't say it. Just holding you like this is enough," he said gently.

She smiled slightly, closing her eyes and then opening them again, filled with his presence. "Jack, if one day Emily and I wore the same clothes and had the same hairstyle, would you still recognize me?"

He answered without hesitation, "Of course."

"You're lying." Time passed, and she nestled gently in his arms. Though still somewhat reluctant, she couldn't help but give in to him.

He smiled and suggested, "How about I try that method?"

Her eyes lit up. "Sure, but you have to tell me where Emily is hiding first. I really want to see her."

Mentioning Emily, his expression darkened, memories from six years ago flooding back. The love from then had turned into hate. She noticed his slight tremble, understanding that Emily still held a place in his heart. She didn't expose him, just smiled and said, "If one day you find her and realize she had no choice back then, don't treat her like you did me. She would be very sad."

He asked curiously, "What if she did it on purpose?"

"I don't think she would," she shook her head, thinking that girls like them probably shared a similar kindness.

"You're wrong. If someone does something intentionally once or twice, there's no trust left in this world." He sighed. He had long lost trust in Emily.

Suddenly, she had a wild thought. "Jack, we look so much alike. Do you think she could be my long-lost sister?"

He shook his head. "Impossible. Your last name is Fairchild, and hers is Bruce."

Her eyes twinkled. "What if I wasn't originally a Fairchild?" In truth, she didn't know her real last name, only that she was adopted by the Fairchild family. As a child, because her mother couldn't have children, she was brought into the Fairchild family. Those were her happiest memories. At seven, she was like a joyful little bird, always nestled in her adoptive mother's arms.

Until one day, her mother's belly grew, and her gaze no longer focused on her.

From then on, she was no longer the little darling, the joy of her parents.

A new brother joined the family, becoming the center of attention, taking away the love that was once hers. Once, her mother even suggested sending her to an orphanage, leading to a huge fight between her parents. In the end, her father won, and she wasn't sent away.

At home, her father didn't talk much, but she knew he was good to her.

Whether someone is good to you often isn't about appearances; you have to feel it with your heart.

After leaving home for so many years, she called her parents every New Year, but the conversations were always polite and distant.

Maybe it was because the blood in her veins was different from theirs.

So, since that argument, no matter how hard her father tried, she felt she could never return to that home.

She became an extra member of the family.

Sometimes, she wished she had a biological sibling, so whenever she thought of Emily, she fantasized that Emily was her sister.

Maybe they were even twins, after all, she had given birth to a pair of twins herself.
