Chapter 130 A Bad Ending (Part 2)
"I can handle this myself..." Before she could finish, he had already scooped her up and carried her out of the break room, through the office, and straight to the elevator, heading for the parking lot. He held her tightly the entire way.
The elevator was his private one, so they were alone.
She couldn't break free from his grip, and the pain in her chest kept her from struggling.
He gently placed her in the back seat of his Volvo, making sure she was comfortable, before running to the driver's seat and starting the car.
There was no point in arguing now. Alison could only let Aidan drive her to his place, where the kids were.
Outside the car window, skyscrapers blurred past like a flowing river. She stared blankly, wishing life could be as beautiful as the scenery. But she could never seem to find happiness or taste its sweetness.
Soon, they arrived at Aidan's villa. He parked the car and once again carried Alison, rushing into the hall. The kids quickly ran up to them.
"Mommy!"
"Daddy!"
Each child called out to one of them. Just as they finished, the glass door of the hall opened again, and Jack and Aimée walked in. Jack teased Aidan, "Hey bro, I heard someone call you 'daddy.' How come I didn't know you had kids? Come on, who's the mom?" As he spoke, his gaze naturally fell on Alison in Aidan's arms.
Their eyes met, and the surprise in Jack's eyes made Alison realize she was in deep trouble.
Everything was so tangled and confusing, like a mess of threads, making her heart race with fear.
The room suddenly fell eerily silent, and Alison's already pale face turned even paler.
Then, Sophia's sweet voice broke the silence, "Mommy, is this Winston Uncle too?" Sophia and Ethan had been guessing who their real dad was, and now with both men in front of them, they didn't hesitate to ask.
Sophia's voice immediately drew everyone's attention, including Jack's.
Jack had heard Sophia's voice before, but seeing her for the first time left him stunned.
Sophia's eyes and expression resembled both him and Alison.
While Jack was staring at Sophia, Ethan had already walked over to her, tugging her sleeve, "Sophia, he must be Winston Uncle. Look, he looks just like Daddy."
Ethan called out "Daddy" again, so naturally. For the first time in his life, he had the chance to call someone "Daddy," and he was thrilled, calling out repeatedly.
Jack stared blankly at Sophia and Ethan, realizing he had been mistaken. They resembled his brother Aidan more than they did him.
Alison's head throbbed. Jack's face was dark, and though he said nothing, Alison knew he was cursing her in his mind. She had promised him a seven-day break, but instead of taking care of the kids, she had ended up at Aidan's villa. And now, her kids were right in front of Jack, safe and sound.
Jack must be thinking that Sophia and Ethan were Aidan's kids now.
Alison stared blankly at Sophia and Ethan, avoiding Jack's gaze. But with Aidan and Aimée there, she couldn't say anything.
Aidan gently helped Alison to the sofa, his face full of concern, treating her like she was the most precious thing in the world.
Aimée noticed Jack's unease. Seeing the two kids and the closeness between Aidan and Alison made her incredibly happy. Aidan's actions were a huge help to her. She smiled, seemingly forgetting past grievances, and asked Alison, "Alison, are you hurt?"
"Oh, it's nothing serious, just a minor injury. I've already been to the hospital," Alison quickly replied, not wanting anyone to know she had gone for a scar removal surgery.
"If you're hurt, you should sit down. Look how worried Aidan is about you," Aimée teased Aidan with a smile, her eyes glancing at her own belly.
Aidan had been hesitant about mentioning the baby. If he did, Aimée would definitely terminate the pregnancy. After much thought, he decided to keep quiet.
It might be a bit selfish.
It was also unfair to Jack.
But he still didn't know how to handle the situation with Aimée's baby.
"Aimée, you should sit too. Be careful with the baby," he said, showing concern for the baby in Aimée's belly. He then sat down on the sofa with Alison, the two of them looking like a loving couple.
Alison was nervous, fidgeting with her clothes. Though she didn't look at Jack, she knew he was staring at her.
"Mommy, are you here to take us home?" Ethan asked, running over with Sophia. They didn't want to be left out.
Alison nodded vigorously, "Yes, we'll go home in a bit."
"Mommy, can we stay here for a few more days? Just a few days. Daddy is really nice," Sophia pleaded, shaking Alison's arm.
Alison wanted to find a place to hide. This was too chaotic; the two little ones had stirred everything up. And Aidan wasn't explaining anything, making it seem like they really were his kids, complicating everything.
"Stop it, go play over there. Mommy needs to rest, and we'll go home soon," she said, looking at their mischievous faces. She wanted to scold them for causing such a mess. She wasn't sure if this mess could be cleaned up.
Ethan stuck out his tongue, sensing Alison's anger. He grabbed Sophia's hand and ran, "Mommy, Daddy, Winston Uncle, and the new lady, we're going to play. You adults can chat." With that, he ran off like a little adult, heading to the playroom filled with toys their godfather had taken them to buy.
The room fell silent again, the quietness unbearable, making hearts race and ache.
