Chapter 47 Driver's License
Chapter 47 Driver's License
The oppressive feeling suddenly vanished, and Lila patted her chest in relief.
She quickly opened the car door, but as soon as she jumped out, she nearly collided with a man.
She looked up and saw a familiar face.
In the parking lot, Killian's shoes had just touched the ground when Charles, who had been waiting for a while, immediately handed Lila's marriage certificate to him.
"Mr. Hart, this is Miss Voss's driver's license."
Killian took the certificate without even glancing at it and tossed it back to Charles.
"Take her upstairs to handle it."
"Miss Voss, please," Charles said.
Seeing him made Lila angry.
"Are you my fiancé? Last time you helped clean up the mess, and now you're going to marry me instead of Killian?"
Charles's expression was complicated as he pleaded, "I'm sorry, Miss Voss, you misunderstood. You are Mr. Hart's wife. I wouldn't dare to compete with Mr. Hart for a woman!"
Lila put her hands on her hips, still fuming, but she knew that the person who wanted to kill her was her fiancé.
If she dared to marry him, what couldn't she forgive?
Besides, to be honest, Charles had an excellent appearance and demeanor. In a crowd, he would definitely stand out.
But because he was next to Killian, a man favored by the gods, all eyes were easily drawn to Killian.
Killian, even just standing in the parking lot, caused the entire place to be jam-packed.
With his naturally handsome looks, he made countless young people mistake him for a top-tier celebrity filming at the City Hall.
As more and more people gathered, Lila felt embarrassed.
To be precise, she was scared.
If his crazy fans found out she was marrying him, she'd be dead sooner or later.
As she took a step to the side, avoiding any argument with Killian, she asked Charles for her driver's license and headed straight towards the second floor for processing.
"Miss Lila Voss," Charles interjected apologetically. "It seems I've accidentally taken the wrong license; this belongs to Miss Eirlys Voss, a lapse on my part."
The passport was opened and presented to Lila, revealing Eirlys' photo.
"Never mind, I'll go back to get mine myself." Lila sighed, surprised that even the usually meticulous Charles could make such a mistake.
"I'll drive you there," Charles offered nervously.
"No need, just give me the car keys," Lila declined, eager not to waste any time.
She took the keys and drove back home.
What used to be lively with the Voss family now seemed incredibly quiet.
Lila agilely ascended to the familiar room on the second floor, retrieved the license from the drawer, confirmed her own photo inside, and gracefully descended like a butterfly, making not a sound.
Back in the parking lot.
Charles was seen cautiously explaining something to a somber-faced Killian.
Lila parked the car in front of the two, returned the keys to Charles, and addressed Killian, "Don't blame him; let's get on with our business."
She took a big step back, planning to sneak into the elevator and separate from Killian.
But just then, a red Ferrari narrowly missed her foot and parked in the adjacent spot.
The car door opened, and Eirlys, in a stunning beige dress, appeared before everyone.
"Mr. Hart, sorry to keep you waiting!" Eirlys removed her Dior sunglasses, smiling charmingly as she swayed her hips and approached Killian.
Killian was surprised by her appearance. "What are you doing here?"
Eirlys affectionately linked her arm with his. "Oh, come on, I know you wanted to surprise me. Now, I've agreed, so Mr. Hart, shall we go up now?"
Killian stopped in his tracks, his aloof gaze shifting to Lila, who was sneakily trying to blend in at the elevator.
If he wasn't mistaken, she was even asking someone for a mask.
Was marrying him that embarrassing?
Perhaps Lila's actions annoyed him. He forcefully shook off Eirlys. "Eirlys, you've misunderstood!"
"Misunderstood what?"
Eirlys, who had dressed up meticulously, blinked her eyes, looking pitifully at Killian.
But she noticed his gaze was fixed on one spot.
Damn it!
It was Lila!
Why was she here, too? Could it be...
Eirlys didn't dare to think further or approach Killian.
Feeling the chilling gaze behind her, Lila shivered.
She frowned, sensing something was off.
Why hadn't Killian come up to the office himself?
But before she could think further, she heard Charles urging her.
Eirlys's eyes flashed with venom.
Recalling her previous humiliation at the mall, she realized it was all Lila's deliberate setup.
Lila wanted to humiliate her and steal Killian.
Since Lila wants to be in the spotlight, she'd make Lila the laughingstock of the town!
Let her taste the pain of being ridiculed.
Eirlys's amber eyes gleamed with a sinister light.
"Mr. Hart, can you help me see if that's Lila? It's so strange, how did she change boyfriends so quickly?"
Charles was standing close to Lila, chatting intimately, looking like a couple in love.
Killian's handsome face immediately darkened with an inky, unshakeable gloom.
Even if it was his assistant, it was unacceptable.
He took long strides towards Lila.
Eirlys followed, her right hand rummaging through her bag.
By the elevator, Lila was completely unaware of the impending danger.
Eirlys, always one to seek attention, had noticed many onlookers secretly filming Killian since she arrived in the parking lot.
This was the City Hall, where people could handle various matters besides marriage registration.
These people were surely speculating why the famous Killian was here.
Eirlys knew that if she confirmed their suspicions on camera, tomorrow's headlines would definitely be about her and Killian's marriage!
So, she practically glued herself to Killian, but Killian seemed to give her no face.
His eyes were fixed solely on Lila.
Killian must hate Lila to death, right?
Of course, he must be angry that Lila had hurt Eirlys before, almost getting bitten by a dog.
Thinking of this reason, Eirlys felt elated, even raising her voice a few notches.
"Lila, what a coincidence, are you here to get married too?"
Lila was startled. She steadied herself and saw Eirlys standing next to Killian, looking like a perfect couple.
"No." She chuckled lightly, denying it outright.
She didn't want Eirlys to know so soon that she had already married the man Eirlys had admired for so long.
She wanted to slowly wear her down.
Eirlys didn't care, continuing to disgust her with her sweet voice.
"Oh?"
She dragged out the word, "Then you must be here to bless me and Mr. Hart, right?"
Lila glanced at Killian's face, which was darker than the night.
'What's with him? Is he warning me not to speak out of turn?' Eirlys thought.
"Are you asking how to bless you, congratulating you on finding a better-fitting M-size dress so quickly?"
Eirlys's expression darkened.
Lila was trying to poke at Eirlys's scars again.
But since Lila had already wasted a lot of her time, she had to cut to the chase and let Killian know as quickly as possible how dirty and lowly Lila was!
"Lila, don't mock me. I wear M because I haven't lost anything where it counts." Eirlys sneered.
