THE NEWS
That means he doesn't know about Belle's death. I stared at him without saying anything, but his gaze was wandering around the classroom.
"Who are you looking for?" I inquired, staring at him.
"Belle, I don't see her," he said.
"Have you seen her in school lately?" I inquired.
"No I haven't, the both of you are just hard to see. I have been lonely in school and both in training because of you." Lucas said. I scratched my hair, I don't know how to break the news to him. He looked pale, as if something was bothering him.
The teacher started teaching. I ignored her and put my hand on top of Lucas.
"You don't look so good. What is bothering you?" I asked, battling my lashes.
"Nothing, I have been stressed out lately." He said and removed his hand from him. I folded my hand and stared at the teacher with a frown.
"I don't think we are friends anymore. We can't go back to the way we used to." I whispered, and started taking notes as I noticed the teacher's gaze on me. She is making reference to her past classes that I didn't attend.
"What are you saying, we are still friends? Fine, I will tell you what is bothering me. Getting married at a young age is the worst mistake I have made in my life." Lucas said.
"Tell me what happened. I am all ears. Is Cherry troubling you?" I inquired, I can't believe he got married to her because he thought she was pregnant for him.
"The only place that gives me peace of mind is school and training at home. I am always teased or insulted by Cherry's parents. Every single day they remind me that Cherry is older than me and that I don't deserve her. I keep trying to ignore them and they are everywhere." He said
"You are living with her parents?" I asked bluntly.
"Yes I am living with them. I regret listening to Cherry so we could get married early because it sucks, and they remind me that I am still in school and I don't have the right to choose dishes because I don't work." He said, with his eyebrows lowered and pulled together, and put my hand on his back and start stroking it.
"You need to stop training and start working so you can rent a house and start your future together with Cherry. You can't live with them for the rest of your lives." I told him.
"You are right, I feel good talking to you. Our age difference doesn't matter to the two of us because she respects me, but her parents always call me all sorts of names and it's getting on my nerves. If I talk back to them, they will say I am being disrespectful." he said.
"Don't listen to them and don't think about it too much because it will hurt you." I said.
"You are right. I will try to keep my mind off it." he said.
"I don't know a thing this teacher is saying, will you teach me the past lessons some time." I told him.
"Of course," he said, with his aborable smile.
"Um, there is something I haven't told you. Did you hear the rumor about the alpha kidnapping girls and also kidnapping Belle that she was..." he cut in.
"She was part of a prohesy, that she was going to become strong and take over the pack, in my opinion Belle is not that kind of person and she doesn't like to get into fights." he said.
"Huh, B...Belle is dead." I said bluntly.
"What!!" he yelled at the top of his lungs. All the students, including the teacher, turned to look at us. I grabbed my book and used it to cover my face.
"She is dead?" he asked in a shaky voice.
"Yes, that's one of the reasons I haven't been to school for a long time. I want to exact revenge on the alpha that slaughtered her and put her heart in a tube." I said.
"Our alpha is so cruel. How can he murder an innocent girl like Belle?" He said with teary eyes. I blinked back the tears in my eyes and tapped him to look up because the teacher was still staring at us.
"That couple at the back, if you are not here for my lecture, you can leave," the teacher said, pointing at the door.
Lucas rubbed his eyes, which were bright red, and started writing, but he wasn't able to concentrate, after class we went to the cafeteria together. He didn't buy any food, so I bought food for myself with my food card. He took the table in my tray as I sat in front of him.
"You said you weren't hungry." I said rudely.
"I can at least have an apple. I am just so heart broken. That is one of the reasons she isn't responding to my texts.
I started eating as I listened to Lucas reminiscing about when Belle was still alive. My phone started ringing; it was Belle's mom.
"Hello." I said, waiting to hear her voice.
"How have you been? I am calling to apologize to you. I know it's not your fault that my daughter died. We are holding her funeral at a church this weekend. Are you gonna be there?" She asked in a soft tone.
"Yes," I said flatly.
"I will send the card to your house. It has the venue and time. Bye bye." She said and hung up. She sounded like she was in a hurry.
I stared at Lucas as his eyes asked the questions. "It was Belle's mother. She was inviting me to Belle's funeral this weekend." I told him.
"You are also invited." I said, he smirked.
"I will definitely go, even if I am not invited." Lucas said.
I arranged the dirty plates in my tray and took them to the lunch lady, who took them from me.
We both started walking around the school, talking about the cruel alpha that if I have an opportunity I am definitely going to kill.
