Chapter 91 The Attack
THIRD PERSON’S POV
“Sir, the troops are ready. The warriors have been positioned on the borders. The female warriors have spread throughout the pack. The elders and children who can't fight for themselves have been sent to dungeons. Is there anything else?” Zishan’s words brought Dylan out of his thoughts.
He placed the photo of Angelica smiling with them on the table, then turned to face his beta and nodded.
“If the intel is right, the attack will take place today. We need to stay ready,” Dylan said.
He looked around with furrowed brows.
“Where is Eric?” He asked no one in particular.
“I saw Alpha Ericsson taking Miss Felicia to the dungeons with the rest of the elders and children. He said this way you guys would know she is safe and won't be distracted,” Zishan answered.
Dylan nodded. That was a good decision.
Felicia was indeed a distraction from many things. They wouldn't be able to fight with a clear head if their minds were constantly worrying over her.
“I had asked Maggie to give me a list of all the actively participating teenagers this time. Was it not prepared?” Dylan asked.
“It was. Here it is—” Zishan couldn't complete his sentence when the loud, blaring sounds of warning sirens echoed in the pack.
Zishan's eyes widened. The warning siren indicated they were under attack.
“Let’s go!” Dylan didn't waste a second running out of the pack.
He looked to his left, where his brother was already running out of the dungeon area. They nodded at each other before jumping in the air and changing into their black wolves.
The rogues had already arrived at the borders in masses they couldn't have imagined.
They weren't hundreds but thousands. And since they found out about the attack recently, their count was comparatively low.
When Dylan and Ericson reached the borders, they witnessed one of the rogues sinking their teeth into Harris’s neck.
Ericson quickly rushed to his aid and threw the rogue away.
Harris fell on the ground, bleeding heavily, his wolf form whimpering in pain.
The medic team rushed quickly while ensuring they wouldn't be attacked. They took Harris's wounded form on the stretcher to see if they would be able to save him.
By now, they were already treating 39 wounded soldiers. And 13 were already dead.
The numbers were small, but a loss they wouldn't forget.
Dylan and Ericson jumped between the rogues to fight and tear off their limbs as they searched for their leader, Keith, who was orchestrating everything.
Ericson’s wolf started moving amid the crowd like a hungry wolf, tearing the flesh of the rogues and killing them so they wouldn't hurt his people.
Dylan was no better. He had taken his half-wolf form. He was punching some rogues, biting some, and ripping apart some rogues before throwing their limbs apart.
It was a gruesome sight.
“Keith! Stop this madness. To get the pack, you are uselessly risking the lives of so many rogues. Their lives matter too. You and we all know you won't get the pack. Even your partner, Jarvin, is dead,” Dylan shouted on top of his lungs.
He knew Keith was around somewhere, just hiding.
There was no response from anyone; all they could hear was loud roaring and snarling from both sides.
Dylan sighed and continued his massacre. He saw a few rogues holding guns, and his pupils dilated.
This wasn't good. They definitely had silver bullets.
He pulled out his dagger and used his alpha speed to slice their throats one by one. However, he couldn't kill them all at once.
The sound of gunshots started echoing in the environment, and for a moment, everything froze when he felt a deep ache in his heart.
Dylan stumbled back in shock and horror, the pain unbearable.
He looked down at his body. There was blood on his clothes, but it didn't belong to him. If he wasn't the one shot, then…
Dylan turned toward where his brother was fighting. He saw the wound mark on his brother's wolf's back, and a whimper left his body when he saw how he was still fighting despite the pain.
“Medic team! Your alpha Ericson needs immediate attention!” Dylan shouted.
Ericson turned around and growled in anger. It was a clear warning to anyone who dared come close to him.
There was no way he was leaving the battlefield until he ensured his people were safe and well.
How could he get himself attended when his team and people were dying?
“Ericson, you need to be able to stand to fight. These are silver bullets. It will work within five minutes on an alpha. Let them take the bullet out at least.” Dylan's words made sense to Ericson, and he tore off the head of the rogue he was fighting before staggering his way towards the resting tent.
Dylan turned back to the rogues. Now it was all on him. And he was ready to avenge his brother's wound. He wanted to be lenient on the rogues, but now hell was starting to break loose.
Dylan turned into his wolf form before he started attacking the rogues like a rogue wolf himself. No rules. Just pure chaos.
Within 10 minutes alone, he killed around 100 rogues. It was almost as if he was seeing red in the moment.
The thought of how they wanted his mate, Angelica, and how they had tortured her when they had kidnapped her started flashing in his head, and it made him go feral even more.
After painting for a few seconds, he was ready for another round of massacre when Alice, one of their female soldiers, rushed to him.
“Alpha, the rogues are inside. They have control over dungeons. All the elders and children are trapped inside,” Alive said.
Dylan froze in his place.
The rogues were inside? How was this even possible? They have been fighting for their life to stop the rogues from moving an inch inside the forests that would lead to their pack.
How the hell did they enter the pack?
Dylan nodded to his team, who assured him they would handle the border, and rushed to the place where the dungeons were.
His eyes widened when he saw Keith standing at the entrance of the dungeons with his hand, carrying a machete to Felicia's neck.
“It was taking you quite a long time to find me. I thought I would make your work a little easier,” Keith smirked.
“Keith, what you are doing is useless. You and I both know you can't have the pack. You will never be able to win against us,” Dylan said, his gaze meeting with his sister’s eyes, who had fear, the same fear that she had when she had come to their ceremony.
Keith kept looking at the man before chuckling darkly.
“You know, Alpha Dylan, as much as I hate it, you are absolutely right. And that's why, as a rogue leader, I had to resort to something unlawful, something we rogues are famous for,” Keith said.
He tightened his grip on Felicia's shoulders and pressed the machete on her throat harder; the little drop of blood rolling down the side of her neck made Dylan's heart thump loudly against his chest.
“I don't want to die, brother. Please,” Felicia's lips whimpered, and the sight broke his heart.
“Nothing would happen to you, Felicia. Please… let me…” Dylan looked around helplessly.
For a second, he didn't know what to do, how to make a decision. His pack members, the elders, and children were looking at him with hope, encircled by rogues from all sides.
He didn't want his sister to die, and he didn't want to put their life at risk either. But he also knew if he agreed to Keith's terms, his people would forever become his slaves and probably bear the torture worse than death.
And the females… he couldn't even imagine what would happen to them.
The thought alone made his heart creep, and he clenched his fists.
As the man was contemplating what to do, he heard a loud, familiar growl behind him, and before he could stop it, the wolf attacked Keith, pushing Felicia aside strategically.
The wolf stood on its four over Keith's body, one of its paws pressing Keith's hand holding the machete.
Before Keith could free himself, the wolf raised his paw and plunged it straight into the rogue leader's chest, crushing the heart.
Dylan's pupils dilated, his heart full of pride as he looked at his brother. However, that expression changed quickly when he heard his sister scream.
“No! Keith!” Felicia shouted, and then to everyone's horror, without any fear or remorse, she picked up the machete and plunged it straight into Ericson's wolf.
