Chapter 83 He came to warn
ANGELICA'S POV
I cleared my throat and placed the glass of water before Tyler, who looked up at me with that weird expression that almost said he was wondering if I was real or not.
I pursed my lips, joined my hands, and sat before him, taking a deep breath, ready to take his questions and answer them the best I could.
When he didn't say anything even after some time, I sighed again and looked at him.
“Seriously, if you want to ask something, just say it rather than looking at me as if I am some kind of alien,” I said to the man.
Tyler drank the glass of water in one go, as if it were alcohol, hoping it would give him some energy and confidence.
“What are you?” Tyler asked, and I arched my brows.
Well, that was straight.
He shook his head.
“I mean, weren't you human? That's how I knew you the entire college life,” Tyler asked me as if trying to put things in place himself.
“Do I not look human anymore?” I asked with raised brows.
I couldn't help but feel amused at his words and confused state.
He pursed his lips, looking helpless and confused, and I would be lying if I said I didn't like that reaction.
That was one thing Alchemist warned me about. The energy inside me was predatory, and sometimes it would find peace and calm in chaos, whether in others' lives or in the chaos I inflicted.
Those were the exact words, and I didn't understand the meaning until now.
“Can you stop spiraling the words and tell me the truth? Okay, let's keep it aside for some time. Tell me, what are you doing here? What about the twin alphas? Why aren't you in the Bloodlust pack?” Tyler asked.
I felt the smile slip off my face as soon as he asked that question. The images of how the twin alphas treated me from the moment their sister returned flashed in my head, and I clenched my fists on my dress.
“Long story short, they don't need me anymore,” I said with a heavy heart.
Tyler chuckled.
“What kind of joke is this? There hasn't been an alpha in the past who doesn't need his mate. Haven't they explained it to you? Their wolves would go feral and mad without you,” Tyler said.
I kept looking at him as he explained werewolf dynamics to me, and I couldn't help but chuckle.
“Well, they are the strongest alphas in the world. I am sure they can get past it. When I say they don't need me, it's because they have their sister to help them with things,” I said.
“No family member can take the place of a mate. Are you confused—?”
“Are you here to meet me or vouch for the twin alphas?” I interrupted him, done with his werewolf talk.
Tyler paused.
He looked at me for a few seconds, as if contemplating what to tell me and what to hide, before he crouched before me and held my hands between his.
“What I am going to tell you is really important, but before I do, I want you not to judge me, okay?” He asked.
I nodded slowly.
“I had been following you and things happening around you,” Tyler said.
I arched my brows at his words, letting him continue.
“In my defence, I couldn't get over you. I thought there was still some hope of getting you back. Despite how foolish it was, it began like that only. After that, I stopped feeling that feeling. Then I just wanted to help you one last time before letting go of these feelings, to make up for the pain I caused you,” Tyler said.
I smiled softly.
Honestly, I forgave Tyler the night I found out the reason he had to betray me and couldn't tell me the truth about his werewolf self.
Yes, I was angry, but it was time I acted maturely and didn't let these small things affect me, especially when I have to deal with bigger things, like controlling what I was.
“It's okay. So what did you want to help me with?” I asked.
Tyler took a deep breath.
“Jarvin Morocco,” he said.
As soon as the name slipped from his mouth, I jerked my hand from between his and stood, my pupils dilated and heartbeats picking up their pace.
“What did you say?” I asked.
“The name that has been haunting you. I should've known and recognized it sooner. It's a shame I couldn't find the reason behind your fear at the time we were dating, but now I found out.” Tyler looked at his hands and stood to face me.
“What about him?” I asked suspiciously, nipping my fingers nervously.
“As I told you, I had been following your steps and things around you. That man met Keith, the rogue head, and they are devising a plan to destroy the Bloodlust pack. The deal is that Jarvin would get you, and Keith would get the pack,” Tyler said.
To say I was surprised would be an understatement.
How could this be? How was that even possible?
“But didn't you say that telling others about werewolves, unless it's a mate or family member, was a crime against the laws and severely punishable?” I asked, tears brimming in my eyes.
Tyler’s eyes softened, and he cupped my cheeks, making me flinch and step back.
I saw his hand linger in the air for a few seconds, and I know my rejection hurt him, but I just couldn't allow it.
“They are rogues, Li—the reason why the packs hate them. And Keith, well, I am sure you know how unhinged he can be, “ Tyler said with pity in his eyes.
I nodded, the images and memories of what had happened when they had kidnapped me. If Alchemist hadn't shown up that night, I might not have been alive, let alone standing here.
“I… Why are you here then? Shouldn't you tell this to the twin alphas?” I asked, turning away from him.
Tyler sighed.
“Because I don't have a duty to them, Li. I love you and want to protect you, not them. It's their duty to know what's happening around them, and if they are so blind in their brotherly love, maybe they deserve it,” Tyler said.
I couldn't help but smile through my tears.
“You do know that this one statement can get you and your pack in trouble with them,” I said, and he hummed before nodding and then shrugging his shoulders.
“Truth has a nature of being bitter to many,” he said.
I smiled.
“Would you like to eat something?” I asked.
Tyler shook his head before clearing his throat.
“So what are you going to do now about that man? Do you want my help? We can prepare an attack, an ambush, since they won't be expecting us,” Tyler offered, and I shook my head at him.
“No.”
“No?” He asked, confused.
I bobbed my head up and down.
“This is my fight. That man has haunted me throughout my teenage years, ruined my idea of a carefree life. And even now he wants me. I want to deal with this myself,” I whispered, looking at my hands.
Tyler grabbed my elbow and forced me to look at him.
“Are you stupid? Are you seriously thinking of fighting a mob leader alone?” Tyler asked.
I clicked my tongue.
“I have my people to help me, too. They won't let me go alone. Someone no one knows about. Besides, maybe I am not even human.” I winked at him at the last sentence, and he swallowed hard.
I know he had multiple questions about who I was and what I was, but he also knew he wasn't going to get a simple, understandable answer from me, or maybe he already guessed who I was.
Whatever the reason was, he didn't press the matter further and just placed a blue glowing stone in my hand.
“This is my protection stone. If you ever need me, call me through this,” he said.
“What is this? Werewolf telephone? Are you into magic stuff too?” I asked, amused, and he smiled.
“I will know,” he said before he smiled one last time and left the hotel room I was living in.
I walked to the balcony and saw the man walking to his car.
As if he knew I was watching him, probably the alpha instincts, he turned and looked straight at me before waving his hand, making me smile and wave back.
