Chapter 70 The Familiar Woman
ANGELICA'S POV
Ericsson patiently waited for me to say something. His hands secured around my waist, his eyes trained on mine in a silent gaze that said he was ready to accept everything and anything I had to offer in explanation.
This kind of trust they put in me was sometimes so scary…
“Have I ever told you how beautiful your eyes are?” I asked, cupping his face, my thumb grazing his subtle beard.
The man playfully leaned forward and took my thumb into his mouth, nibbling it, and I chuckled softly.
“Alchemist. I'm not sure if that's his real name. He called himself that,” I said, not wanting to hide anything from them.
There was no need to hide anything, not from the guys who were ready to lay down their lives for my safety and happiness.
So I told him that the man was the same one who had saved me from Keith’s men and left me in the forest, where Tyler found me. I explained that the man had called himself my father's admirer and accomplice.
“Maybe he is a mage who is here to guide me. He gave me these. Strangely, my hands have stopped hurting since I wore them,” I said, showing my jade bangles to him.
Ericson held my hand and opened his mouth to speak when I saw little movement to my left.
Dylan stood there with a confused expression.
“Brother, pardon me, but why do I feel like you have been sneaking to find some extra time with our mate?” He asked, more like complaining.
I looked at Ericsson, who had an embarrassed expression.
But didn't he say Dylan asked him to…
I smiled inwardly. It was good that they were still trying to find ways to smile despite everything going on in our pack.
“Dylan, our angel has something to say. A mage named an alchemist came to meet her. Do you think we should consult Moon Poison Pack? Her mom, Marlyn, might know something,” Ericson suggested.
Dylan looked at me as if asking for permission, and I nodded.
That sounded like a good suggestion.
I immediately video called my mom.
“Hey, sweetheart. How are you holding up things?” She asked as soon as she picked up the phone.
I saw my father talking to someone over the call in his seat. They were in his office, which meant they were already discussing something critical.
My mother always hated going into his office, saying she didn't like working from there.
“Is something the matter, Mom?” I asked.
I saw my mother look at my father, who walked to where she was standing.
“Nothing’s wrong, my little angel. Tell me, are the twins treating you right?” Ronaldo asked.
“We are standing right here,” Dylan said, and my stepfather rolled his eyes.
“And that won't stop me from asking my daughter if everything's alright,” Ronaldo said.
My mother snatched the phone from my father's hand and looked at me.
“Tell me, baby. What is it?” She asked, her expression turning concerned.
I repeated everything that happened for the third time, and my mother looked at my father.
The look she gave him made me sure they knew something. Ronaldo looked at her with raised brows, and I saw a flicker of emotion in my mother's eyes that seemed like denial.
She wouldn't tell us anything. I said in my head, and the two men looked at me, making my pupils dilate.
Right. How could I forget that now I could use the mind link through our mate bond, just like the rest of them, and they could hear my loud thoughts?
“Everything has a time, sweetheart. You'll know about it sooner. The cult he belonged to, the mage group he followed, will come to you eventually. Don't seek information for now. The more you try to seek, the more you'll disassociate from our world,” my mom said.
Disassociate from their world? I wondered before looking at the two handsome hunks standing behind me protectively.
Dylan’s hand snuck on my waist, his fingers slightly digging into my hips possessively as he pulled me back, and I took a deep, shaky breath.
It was amazing how even after all the things we did together, such little touches still affected me.
“Don't worry, Mom. Nothing in this world can make me disassociate from this world, not when my love is here,” I said.
It was crystal clear that no matter what anybody said, it wasn't the right time to tell me about the cult yet, and I didn't want to push her either.
Maybe she was right. Just like the alchemist found me, I'll find the information eventually.
“Tomorrow is my Luna Ceremony, Mom. Will you guys come?” I asked, changing the topic.
My father quickly stepped forward.
“Luna Ceremony? How can you guys hold such a major event with everything going on with her? Are you pressuring my daughter?” His brows knitted close.
Before my father could say more, my mother held his hand and chuckled through the phone.
“We will be there,” she said.
They didn't end the call immediately, and I could hear my mom scolding Ronaldo for acting that way, telling me I was a big girl now and should be allowed to make such decisions.
My heart warmed at their words and banter before I ended the call.
As soon as I did that, Ericson held my hand and pulled me closer. He placed his head in the crook of my neck.
“I won't let you go,” he whispered.
I shook my head at them when Dylan hugged me from behind.
“I am not going anywhere either. I love you guys too much to give up on this life,” I assured them.
Honestly, as much as I sometimes hated how touchy they were, I loved being touched by them. And though I wasn't a werewolf, I think I was a lusty human for sure, given how much I crave their lovemaking despite knowing how intense they get.
Since they had so much to do, they left shortly after peppering me with soft kisses and letting me know how cherished I was in their care.
Not having anything to do, I was about to go to my room when someone knocked on our door, and I walked to see who it was.
“Luna!! Congratulations on the Luna ceremony. Why are you sitting here? We got to do so many things. Let's go dress shopping first,” Tracy’s chirpy voice came as soon as I opened the door.
I raised my eyebrows when I saw our beta, Zishan, standing behind her with a helpless expression.
“Let's go, Luna, or she will tell our alphas I didn't want to accompany you guys,” Zishan groaned when Tracy stuck her tongue out at him.
I realized what was happening here and couldn't help but chuckle.
I contemplated locking the door. Then again, who would dare enter their alpha's house without permission and risk their life?
I sat in the car, and Tracy sat beside me, her hands reaching out for the bangles I was wearing.
I noticed how the color of my bangles started to change to grey when she touched them. I didn't know exactly what this color meant, but it was better to keep others away from it.
“These bangles are beautiful. This is the finest green I have ever seen. Was it our alphas’ present?” Tracy asked, envy in her eyes.
I shook my head and told her that it was a gift from a friend.
“Not a man, I hope. Our alphas can get quite jealous,” Tracy said before chuckling.
I furrowed my brows, finding her sentence peculiarly strange.
Or maybe I was overthinking things and looking at everyone suspiciously because of my nerves that were all over the place.
“Right. About the website you were asking about… here it is.” Tracy sent me a link through Messenger, and I thanked her with a smile.
“Let's go.” Tracy held my hand and pulled me to the mall.
Images of how I had to run through the corridors of this same mall the last time I was here made me feel bile rising in my throat, so I took a deep breath before forcing a smile onto my face.
“You look through these dresses. I'll be right back with more options.” Tracy rushed to the backside of the large showroom she brought me to, and I was left alone.
I'm not sure if this was just my overthinking again, but I felt like someone was watching me.
“Hey.” I walked over to the saleswoman to stay close to someone and lessen the risk of any possible attack.
However, as I was walking towards the saleswoman, someone rushing out of the showroom bumped into my shoulders, almost knocking me down.
Before I could fall, the woman held my hand before helping me stand properly.
“I am sorry; I wasn't looking,” she said.
I looked at the woman who was wearing a hat.
She… I have seen her before. She was oddly familiar.
“If I were you, I would be careful of what I am getting myself into,” the woman said before tipping her hat and leaving.
My pupils dilated when I realized she was giving me a warning.
“Hey!” I started to walk towards her.
"Don't follow her. She means trouble.” A voice echoed in my head, making me freeze in my place.
Why? Because that voice sounded so much like mine. But how was that even possible? Was it what we call our inner voice? Was it related to my mage blood? Many questions arise in my heart, and I hate the fact that I couldn't get an answer to either of them.
