Chapter 36 A business trip or fun trip?

Chapter 36 A business trip or fun trip?
ANGELICA’S POV

“Ready to go on the trip?” Alen asked, and I raised my left brow at him.

Why was he making it sound like we were leaving for a holiday rather than going on a business trip?

“You sound atrociously happy,” I said, looking at him from the corner of my eyes as we waited for Dylan and Ericson to arrive at the airport.

Alen grinned like a happy kid before bobbing his head up and down.

“Of course, I am happy. This isn’t just a business trip. We are returning to our home town. Our roots lay back all the way to the Celestial City,” Alex explained.

I hummed.

“By ‘we,’ who else are you including?” I asked casually, looking at the watch on my wrist.

This was Dylan and Ericson's first time late for something they asked me to attend. Usually, they are the ones who knock on my door to tell me we need to go.

However, today, they didn’t arrive even after thirty minutes.

I arrived at the airport beforehand because I remembered the schedule mentioned at the company forum.

“All of us. Most of the company members, including our alphas, I mean our bosses, belong from the Celestial City,” Alen coughed, and I looked at him briefly, his little slip-up not going unnoticed by me.

I was about to ask him what he meant when everyone went silent.

I didn’t need to be told why that was the case.

I turned, only to come face to face with Dylan and Ericson, wearing their infamous masks, dressed in tuxedos as they oozed the kind of aura that would make anyone want to have a second look at them but not dare go near them.

My heart drummed against my chest as I saw nearly eight bodyguards walking behind them.

It was like a dream coming true.

I have read many romance novels where the male lead, the CEO of a company, walks out of the airport with heavy security.

“It’s our cue to leave,” Alen said, and I hummed, dazed.

Honestly, this was my first time seeing them after that confession night.

Due to urgent business, they left for another country the same night and returned only two hours ago.

I didn’t even know if the plans for this business trip were on until Alen knocked at my cabin and told me to return to the apartment and pack my stuff.

Feeling sweaty, I wiped my palms on my dress before clearing my throat.

I was about to stand to greet them, but the brothers passed by me, completely ignoring me as if I wasn’t even sitting there, and I couldn’t help but feel awkward.

They walked straight to Zishan and Maria as they talked about something.

Zishan looked at me occasionally, leaving me flustered as his brows knitted.

I shifted my weight from one toe to another before I couldn’t take it.

“Was I not needed on this trip?” I asked Layla, who was standing at some distance, and as if the girl didn’t expect me to talk to her, she nearly jumped in her place.

“That’s not the case. You are their secretary. Of course, you were needed,” Layla said, and I hummed, feeling even more unsure.

Did I do something that the brothers were giving me, the cold shoulders?

“Are you bothered by our bosses not informing you anything?” Layla asked.

I took a deep breath before shaking my head at her. Maybe I was thinking too much about things. Just because they sang a song for me doesn’t change anything, right?

I walked to the cafeteria area, feeling the urge to have some caffeine in my system.

“One cold coffee, please,” I whispered, looking at the menu with pouty lips.

Everything was so atrociously expensive here.

I was about to pay for the coffee when a hand extended beside me and placed the dollar bill on the counter. I knew who it was from the familiar scent, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

So they knew I was here? Huh?

“Why did you come here so quickly? We were waiting for you,” Ericson said, his light brown eyes raking at my face, and I scoffed.

“Well, someone forgot to mention it to me. How was I supposed to know that? Alen was the one who informed me the trip was still on, or I wouldn’t have known about it either,” I said.

Ericson kept looking at me for some time before he bent and removed his mask.

He took a sip of my coffee before placing his lips on mine.

I widened my eyes when I realized what he was doing. He forced the sweet liquid into my mouth, and my heart skipped a beat at the cold yet warm sensation that spread across my heart.

“You!” I wanted to raise my voice at him but didn’t want to catch unnecessary attention.

Since we were in a blind spot, I am sure no one saw what their cold boss did to me.

I glared at the man before huffing and looking away.

“We didn’t tell you about it because we weren't supposed to travel on this schedule. We wanted to tell you once we were back at our apartment. However, we found out you were waiting for us here when we reached there. Our flight wasn’t scheduled for another four hours,” Ericson explained.

I looked at Dylan, who was walking towards us.

“Is that so?” I asked, feeling a little unsure now.

“Yes, Mi Vida. Would we keep you in the dark for something as good as this? But don’t worry, Dylan has talked to the airport authorities, and our plane will leave in half an hour,” Ericson said.

“Our plane?” I asked.

“Yes, our plane. Yours, Dylan’s, and My plane,” Ericson said before he wiped the liquid from the corner of my mouth and licked his thumb sensually.

I stood there, frozen.

I don’t know if it was my premonition, but this action looked so…

Why did it feel like he was indirectly telling me to expect something much more from this trip rather than pure business?

“Are you guys done?” Dylan asked, and I looked into his blue eyes, flickering between Ericson and me.

I nodded and was about to walk away when he held my hand.

“I am sorry for ignoring you earlier. I wanted to deal with the matter first. My wolf–ish instincts couldn’t accept that our woman was made to wait so long,” Dylan said.

I furrowed my brows.

Was this man practically agreeing to be a monster?

Or perhaps a monster in a bed? The thought alone made me flush scarlet, making me gaze follow where Dylan’s hand was gripping as it tightened.

“Has anyone told you that your eyes tell people exactly what you think? They are so expressive that —” Dylan stopped talking before taking a deep breath.

“That?” I asked, following him down the corridor to our boarding area.

“I want to bring every fantasy of yours to life immediately,” Dylan smirked. Slowly, he raked his gaze from my face to my chest to my abdomen before looking back into my eyes.

I gulped. He possibly didn’t mean what I was thinking, right?

I wondered. However, my question was soon answered when I entered the private plane and saw its layout.

“Did you like it?” Ericson cooed in my ear, making me snap, but I didn’t know how to answer it as I looked at the sleeping lounge.

“Since we will be visiting another country and rerouting, it will be a long flight, mi amore. We will make good use of the space.” Dylan stood behind me, his body heat making me well aware of my situation.
