Chapter 20 Saved
ANGELICA’S POV
"You have good skills," Dylan groaned when I turned the car, and his head nearly hit the window.
"Why am I the only one suffering the most?" Dylan snarled, and I looked at Matt, who was still shuffling around the candy box.
Do any of you know how to shoot or throw a dagger with good aim? I wanted to ask my bosses, but Ericson, who was sitting right behind me, leaned forward, the blood from his shoulder becoming more evident, and I gulped as my gaze traveled down.
Fck! This wasn't the time to drool over your boss. This was the time to save our lives.
"I don't know why, but this route is atrociously longer today," Matt scoffed, and I hummed.
I was about to take the candy box from his hand and take out my dagger collection from underneath it, but when I finally saw the board that said the main city was only two kilometers away, I refrained myself from unraveling another mystery about me.
I sighed before focusing forward.
"Why does it look like this truck is coming directly at us?" Matt suddenly said, and I looked at the truck in the rearview mirror before cursing loudly.
"That's because it's indeed coming straight at us." I changed lanes and gave it the path to go, but when the truck moved into the same lane as us, I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Just how many fcking enemies do you have behind yourself tonight?" I groaned at my bosses.
"Are you cursing at us, Miss Angelica?" Dylan asked. The pain was evident in his voice, and I squared my jaws.
"Well, as you can see, manners aren't exactly my priority at the moment when some hungry dirty wolves are chasing us, and a truck who god knows why wants to kill us," I looked at Dylan from the rearview mirror before sighing.
"What is that? Were you drinking in my car?" I looked at Matt and the beer bottle at his legs.
Why didn't I notice it earlier?
"Well, I uhh..."
"Give that to me," I looked at him.
"No freaking way!" Matt glared at me.
"Matt, your life is in my freakin hands right now. I am too sober for this. Give me that sht!" I looked at him, and he passed the bottle to me with trembling hands.
I kept one hand on the steering wheel before taking a sip.
"Honestly, I already had a bad feeling when she started laughing maniacally while driving, but now I am sure we are not in good hands," Matt said to no one in particular, and I smiled before shifting the bottle to my right hand.
I looked at the truck in the side mirror before looking at Matt.
"Handle the wheel for a second," I said before looking at the truck. As soon as it came within range, I threw the bottle as fast as I could, crushing it right below the tire.
The truck turned with a screech before toppling over, falling straight into the forest, and I smiled before sitting back in my seat.
"Well, I had some good use of it," I sighed.
"You look like you are a pro at this kind of stuff," Ericson's expression was a bit suspicious, and I cleared my throat.
"Matt, keep looking to your left and tell me if you see any of those predators again. Ericson, you look to the right. I will focus on the back and front," I said, not answering his previous suspicion.
After seeing the city lights, I finally breathed a sigh of relief before changing the gear and driving back at an average speed of 70 km/h.
"Are you guys okay? Should I turn towards the hospital? The city hospital isn't -"
"Take us to the apartment, Li. Our medical team will handle these things," they said, and I nodded in understanding.
I saw Dylan calling a number.
"Be there in five minutes. Yes. We are coming," his voice was cold and void of emotions, sending chills down my spine.
I swear if he used that kind of voice in a meeting room, people like me would be pissing our pants.
After fifteen minutes, we reached our apartments.
"Sir!" I saw a few men dressed in black rush to our side, obviously to take care of these trillionaires, and I turned to Matt, who held my hand and pulled me in front of my apartment.
"Are you sure you are going to be alright? You don't want me to stay the night?" Matt asked me, and I could feel someone's stare on my back.
"I am positive, Matt. You can leave. And well, sorry for everything," I looked at him awkwardly, and he smiled.
"I told you. You never cease to amaze me. You are my personal touch of adventure in life. Though it was risky, it was cool. You were totally like a mafia princess," Matt said, and I chuckled at his words.
After sharing some more words, Matt left, and I was about to enter my apartment when someone held my hand.
"You are coming with us," The unknown man in black, who was with Dylan, said, and I was pulled into my boss's apartment.
The hell?!
"So, mind telling us what that was all about?" Ericson's face was dark, and I winced inwardly when the doctors wiped Dylan's wound with pure alcohol.
"What was what?" I asked, obviously aware of what the hell they were asking me.
"Who taught you to drive like this?" Ericson asked before he glared at the men who tried to open his buttons.
He looked at me, his gaze unmoving as he took off his shirt ever so gently, and my gaze, as much as I didn't want to follow his movements, followed everything with the same pace he was using.
He was definitely a dangerous sight to behold when I was struggling to hide the truth.
