Chapter 62

Chapter 62

People around screamed in terror, all thinking Charlotte was going to fall hard on the ground and suffer a serious head injury.

Even Charlotte herself thought so the moment she flew out.

However, the pain and fall she imagined didn't happen.

Charlotte landed in a warm, strong pair of arms, and behind her came a muffled groan suppressing pain.

She opened her eyes and saw Alexander's tightly furrowed brows as he endured the pain, while she herself was lying in Alexander's arms, steadily caught by his embrace.

The sudden weight and impact of her entire body was borne by Alexander, which is why she wasn't hurt.

"Alexander, you..."

Charlotte looked at the man before her in shock.

He had rushed up to catch her regardless of the danger...

Alexander smiled with difficulty, "I think my arm is broken. Can you stand up?"

Charlotte snapped back to reality and quickly stood up, pulling his arm to check the situation.

Clearly, Alexander's left arm was bent at an unnatural angle - a sign of a fracture.

Charlotte's eyes showed mixed emotions. She quickly calmed down and took out her phone to call an ambulance.

"Don't move. It's already fractured. You need to go to the hospital right away."

Alexander nodded, his face looking pale.

Charlotte frowned, "Does it hurt a lot?"

She felt a bit lost, not knowing how to comfort an injured person, especially since this was the first time someone had gotten hurt trying to save her.

Alexander forced a smile, "It hurts a bit, but I can bear it."

Charlotte got through on the phone, quickly gave the address, and helped Alexander sit down nearby.

Staff brought over some water.

She unscrewed the cap and handed it to Alexander.

"Why did you save me?"

Charlotte stared at Alexander intently.

Alexander looked up, his eyes full of affection, "I said I like you, but you didn't seem to believe it. Do you believe it now?"

Charlotte slowly blushed and unnaturally looked away toward the crowd in the distance.

"Thanks."

Alexander tugged at her arm, "Just a thank you?"

Before Charlotte could respond, she glanced at the passing crowd and suddenly noticed a familiar figure.

Was that Mandy?

She wanted to look again, but Alexander pulled her directly onto the chair to sit down.

"Can you wipe the sweat off my face?"

Charlotte saw the cold sweat on his forehead and had to take out her handkerchief to help him wipe it, temporarily pushing down the uncertainty in her mind.

Soon the ambulance arrived, and Charlotte went to the hospital with Alexander.

After examination, it was confirmed that Alexander's arm was fractured and needed to be set and bandaged.

Alexander went with the doctor to get bandaged, while Charlotte went to pay the medical fees.

When she came back, she saw that Benjamin and Chloe had already arrived, and Mandy was there too.

The group had their backs to the hospital room door, all gathered around the bed watching the doctor bandage Alexander's arm.

"How did it end up like this? It was just a trip to the amusement park."

Benjamin frowned, "What happened?"

Chloe stood beside him and said softly, "I heard it was because of Charlotte."

Mandy pursed her lips nearby, her expression not looking good.

"Going to an amusement park with her and ending up with a fracture - looks like whoever gets close to Charlotte has bad luck. Alexander, you'd better stop seeing her, or next time it might be worse than a fracture."

Hearing this, Charlotte walked right in.

"Alexander got injured because of me, but as for how this accident happened, don't you know, Ms. Miller?"

At these words, all four people turned to look at Charlotte.

Mandy said unhappily, "What do you mean by that? Nobody wanted to see this happen! This was completely an accident. What does it have to do with me?"

"Nothing to do with you?"

Charlotte walked step by step up to Mandy and stopped.

She questioned expressionlessly, "I'm giving you one last chance. Will you admit your mistake yourself, or should I rip off that fake mask on your face?"

Mandy's expression turned ugly.

She clenched her teeth and stared hard at Charlotte, "What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean." Charlotte raised an eyebrow.

Benjamin and Chloe watched from the side, looking confused, not knowing what the two were talking about.

Alexander's eyes darkened, and he said coldly, "Mandy, the accident at the carousel - was it related to you?"

"No, nothing to do with me!"

Mandy was startled and immediately denied it, "This was just an accident. I wasn't even there at the time. How could it be related to me?"

Alexander narrowed his eyes and looked at her coldly without speaking.

"Fine. Since you insist on being stubborn and talking behind my back, slandering me, then I don't need to save you any face either."

Charlotte took out her phone and called Jason.

"How long until you get here?"

Jason answered, "Five minutes."

"Good."

Charlotte hung up and turned to sit on an empty bed nearby.

"On the way to the hospital, I had someone check the surveillance footage from that time. Whether this was an accident or someone deliberately tampered with things, I believe we'll have an answer soon."

Hearing this, Mandy completely panicked.

She was so scared she could barely speak properly, "I... you... whatever you find has nothing to do with me! Charlotte, don't slander me just because you don't like me!"

Charlotte ignored her and couldn't be bothered to say more.

Soon, Jason rushed over, bringing surveillance footage from the amusement park from two hours ago.

"Take a look, everyone."

He stood beside Charlotte and handed his phone to Alexander.

In the surveillance video clip, while Alexander was helping Charlotte buy tickets for the carousel, Mandy had specifically found a staff member.

After saying something unknown, that staff member went to check whether the screws on the carousel were tightened before it started.

He lingered for quite a while in front of the carousel Charlotte was sitting on before leaving.

Jason snorted coldly, "I've already found this staff member and reported it to the police. He personally admitted to the police that a woman transferred money to him, bribed him to tamper with it, and said she'd give him another hundred thousand after it was done."

He glanced at Mandy, "What do you have to say now?"

Mandy's face lost all color. She shook her head, completely falling into panic and fear.

Her eyes reddened, "I was wrong!"

Hearing this, Alexander looked up at Mandy expressionlessly.

"Did you actually do this?"

Mandy immediately shook her head, "No! It wasn't me!"

Alexander pressed his lips together and directly pushed the doctor aside, got up and walked in front of Mandy.

"I'm giving you one last chance. Apologize to Charlotte."

Mandy was frightened by his cold, merciless gaze and couldn't say a word.

Benjamin couldn't stand it anymore, "Charlotte isn't hurt anyway..."

Bang!

Before he could finish, he took a punch to the face.

Alexander's bodyguard had appeared out of nowhere, and after throwing the punch, pushed Chloe aside as well.

The bodyguard threatened coldly, "This is none of your business. Interrupt again, and next time it won't be just one punch."

For a moment, everyone was intimidated, scared into even breathing more quietly.
