Chapter 556 Don't You Miss Your Dad?

Edward was about to speak when Monica bypassed him and excitedly grabbed Nancy's hand.

"Nancy, honey, you're finally back!"

Edward was a bit confused by the scene. Just a while ago, his grandmother had tearfully insisted he stay away from Nancy, and now her attitude had changed so quickly?

"Grandma," Nancy said, holding her hand in return, "I'm back. How have you been?"

"I'm fine, sweetie. Come on, let's go inside and sit down."

Monica guided Nancy into the house, not even sparing a glance at Edward, leaving him puzzled.

Still, Edward was happy that Monica no longer opposed Nancy.

Once inside, they settled down, and the servants brought out plates of fruit and snacks, along with a bowl of chicken soup just for Nancy.

Monica's wrinkled hand gently touched Nancy's face. "Nancy, you've had a tough time these past years. But now, the hard times are over. From now on, just live well with Edward."

Nancy nodded, her heart filled with mixed emotions.

Monica had distanced herself from Nancy for a while, but now she was warm again. Was it out of genuine concern?

Monica's next words clarified things for Nancy.

"I've arranged for a doctor. Tomorrow, Edward will take you for a prenatal checkup. You've been through so much lately, and we can't risk anything happening to the baby. You're pregnant now, so you must be extra careful. Don't worry about the company; Edward can hire someone else to handle things."

"Whatever you want to eat, just tell Philip. Don't worry about your figure; you can think about that after the baby is born."

Edward looked at her in surprise. "Grandma, how did you know?"

"That woman told me. If she hadn't, were you planning to keep it from me?" Monica shot him a look.

Yesterday, Glenna had called Monica, saying she was disbanding the organization and asking her not to trouble Nancy. She also mentioned Nancy's pregnancy.

Monica had been so excited she couldn't sleep all night. Edward's future children had always been her biggest concern, and now that Nancy was pregnant, she felt her wish had come true.

Realizing the truth, Nancy gave a bitter smile. So it was her pregnancy that had changed Monica's attitude.

But no matter the reason, as long as Monica treated her well, that was enough.

Edward then said proudly, "Grandma, there's something else you don't know. When you hear it, you'll be over the moon."

Monica looked at him. "Oh? What is it?"

"Actually, Nancy is Juliana's biological mother. How about that? Bet you didn't see that coming," Edward said, unable to hide his joy.

"Really?" Monica looked at Nancy, her eyes wide with excitement. "Nancy, is it true? Are you really Juliana's mom? I didn't hear wrong, did I?"

Nancy nodded solemnly. "It's true, Grandma. I only found out recently myself. I know it's hard to believe, so we'll do a DNA test soon to confirm it."

Monica's eyes filled with tears. "That's wonderful. Your family is finally reunited. This is such a blessing!"

Nancy felt tears welling up too. She had been searching for her child for so long, and now she was finally seeing the end of that journey.

She thought of the first time she saw Juliana, how prickly she had been, and how she called out for her mom in her sleep. It made Nancy's heart ache.

"You rascal," Monica scolded Edward, "why didn't you tell me something this important sooner?"

Edward looked innocent. "Grandma, I only found out a day before you did."

"Even a day earlier would have been better. I..." Monica's voice choked with emotion.

She was rarely this emotional, having weathered many storms in her life. If she had known earlier, she wouldn't have reacted this way.

"Grandma, it's a happy day. No crying," Nancy said, hugging her shoulders to comfort her.

"Alright, I won't cry," Monica said, wiping her tears. "Juliana doesn't know yet, does she? You should go home and tell her right away. She'll be so happy. No one will ever say she's an unknown child again."

Nancy's tears flowed freely. "Alright, we'll go tell her now."

She grabbed Edward's hand and ran outside. From now on, they would live happily together, and no one would separate their family again.

Edward looked at his beloved ahead of him, his heart softening. He would never let go of this hand.

When they got home, Juliana ran out of the house. "Mom, you're finally back!"

Just as she was about to throw herself into Nancy's arms, Edward stepped forward to stop her.

"Juliana, slow down. Don't hurt your mom."

But Juliana ignored him, pushing him aside with her small hands. "Move, don't block Mom."

Nancy quickly knelt down and hugged her. "Juliana, I'm back. I missed you so much."

"Mom, I missed you too. Why did it take you so long to come back? I thought you didn't want me anymore." Juliana started to cry.

Hearing her heart-wrenching sobs, Nancy's heart ached. "How could I not want you? You're my precious baby."

Juliana sobbed, "But other kids' parents tell them how long they'll be gone when they go on business trips. Some say three days, some say a week. But I didn't know how long you'd be gone or when you'd come back. I'm so small, I can't even fly abroad to find you..."

Nancy felt her heart breaking, tears of guilt streaming down her face. "I'm sorry, Juliana. It's my fault. I won't leave you again."

"Mom, you're the best mom in the world. I love you the most," Juliana said, looking up with tear-filled eyes.

Both of them were still teary-eyed, but their faces were lit with smiles.

Edward, watching them, felt his emotions rise and fall with theirs. In the end, he felt a bit left out—his daughter hadn't even looked at him!

He knelt down and patted Juliana's head. "Juliana, don't you miss your dad?"

Juliana turned away from him. "Dad, you're a big liar. You said you'd bring Mom back soon, but I had to wait so long!"

"But... but I did bring your mom back, didn't I? Now that you have Mom, you don't want Dad anymore? That makes me really sad."

"Alright, I forgive you," Juliana said, giving him a reluctant hug.

Nancy laughed at the sight and softly said to Juliana, "Juliana, I have some good news for you..."

"I'll tell her!" Edward quickly interrupted.

He needed to say this himself to improve his standing with his daughter.

Juliana blinked her big, curious eyes. "Dad, what's the good news?"
