Chapter 551 Are You Threatening Me?

Simon stepped forward, positioning himself between Edward and Nancy, shielding them.

Both of them were taken aback by his unexpected move, while Glenna burst into laughter, tears streaming down her face.

"Simon, now you're playing the good father? Where were you when your mom took Edward away from me? Am I just some worthless person to you?"

"I'm sorry," Simon's voice trembled. "Glenna, I messed up back then, but this has nothing to do with the kids. I'm here to make things right. Please, let them go."

Glenna sneered, "Let them go? Do you think I'm stupid, Simon? Do you even know who Nancy is? And those two who escaped with her aren't any better. I know exactly what happens when you let a tiger back into the wild. I won't allow it."

Nancy bit her lip, staying silent.

She should have stepped up to assure Glenna that she wouldn't seek revenge, to beg for their release, but she couldn't.

Destroying the base was a shared goal with Chris and Edith, a vow made to their fallen comrades. She couldn't promise Glenna anything on her own.

Freed from the need to play the dutiful son, Edward's arrogance returned. "Glenna, so you do fear revenge. If you knew this, why did you start all this? Disband the organization now, and for the sake of our relationship, I'll find you a nice place to retire."

Glenna's face fell, sadness overtaking her. "Edward, haven't I been good to you? Why are you doing this to me?"

"Is your 'good' what I wanted? Imprisoning me, doing things to make yourself feel better—is that for my sake? Glenna, stop being so self-righteous. If you keep this up, you'll only face destruction."

"You think you can threaten me?" Glenna's eyes grew colder. "Since the day I took over the organization, I put my life on the line. Death means nothing to me. But you deceived me, and I hate being deceived more than anything!"

With that, Glenna signaled to the figures behind her.

They moved, rushing towards them.

Simon shouted, "Stop!"

Simon, who often participated in the organization's affairs, had a commanding presence. The black-clad figures hesitated, looking at each other, then at Glenna.

Glenna's face darkened. "What are you looking at? Don't you know who to listen to?"

"Glenna," Simon's eyes were red, "Edward is your son. Can you really do this to him? Let them go. They don't belong here."

"This isn't up for discussion. If you care so much about them, then you'll stay here too. You'll never leave the base!" Glenna's words barely left her mouth before the black-clad figures charged again.

As they were about to be captured, Edward shouted, "Glenna, do you want to see history repeat itself? Nancy is pregnant. She’s the only wife I'll ever have. If I lose her and our child, I won't live alone."

Glenna's eyes widened in shock, staring at Nancy's flat stomach. "What? Pregnant?"

Simon turned to them, equally surprised by the news.

"Yeah, pregnant," Edward said, shielding Nancy. "When you were pregnant, Grandma schemed against you and Simon, almost tearing you apart and forcing you to leave. I know how much that hurt you, so I apologize on her behalf."

"But because you've been through this, you shouldn't stop me and Nancy from being together. Don't let the same tragedy happen again. If you let us go, I'll bring Nancy and the baby back to visit. I promise."

Glenna fell silent, her eyes distant, filled with painful memories.

Simon slowly walked to Glenna, taking her hand. "Glenna, the kids are grown. We're going to be grandparents. We should pass on love, not hatred. Let it go."

"Why?" Glenna pulled her hand away. "Why should everyone else get happiness but not me? Monica hasn't paid for what she did. Why should I let go? I can't. Just thinking about what she did makes me want to skin her alive!"

Simon could only smile bitterly, while Edward and Nancy exchanged helpless glances.

They couldn't judge the past, and Edward, raised by his grandmother, couldn't condemn her. But he began to feel for Glenna.

Now that he had his own child, he understood the pain of being separated from them. His hatred wouldn't be any less than Glenna's.

Moreover, Glenna hadn't harmed Nancy and had healed her injuries. Otherwise, he would have lost both his wife and child. This made him realize Glenna wasn't the villain his grandmother had painted.

Stepping forward, he sincerely called out, "Mom."

Glenna's eyes widened in disbelief, tears glistening. "Edward, what did you just call me?"

"Mom," Edward repeated. "I've thought about you over the years, resented you for leaving me. But now I understand you didn't abandon me on purpose. That little bit of resentment is gone. If you want, you can come back with me. We can live happily together."

Glenna was stunned, then laughed bitterly, tears streaming down. "Edward, you think saying that will make me let you go? How naive. If I were that foolish, I wouldn't be here today. Stop trying to sweet-talk me. Go back. I'll pretend tonight never happened."

Edward sighed. "Mom, I agree with Grandma on one thing. I don't want my child to grow up in this environment. You know I haven't lost my memory. I've been in contact with the outside world. If I don't leave tonight, this place will be leveled soon."

"So, I suggest you listen to me. Don't do something you'll regret. You and Dad are old enough to retire. Come back with me and live a peaceful life."

Glenna narrowed her eyes. "Are you threatening me?"
