Chapter 42
She had taken me into a building but through the back way. Probably so no one would stare at me which I respected more than anything. And led me upstairs to a room. Lisa placed a key in the door and opened the door to reveal a nicely decorated room.
“I took the liberty of Girling this place up for you. So please make yourself at home.”
I nodded at her but before she exited, she stopped.
“My Alpha is requesting to speak with you when you are up to it. He’s a good guy so don’t let his cold face fool you. That’s just all Alpha’s I feel like. You’re not a prisoner so come and go as you please, okay?”
I nodded once again, and she took her to leave. The first thing I wanted was a bath. I was still too weak to stand in the shower. The bathroom wasn’t anything special, but the bathtub is what was calling me. I waited for the tub to feel up and stripped myself of the clothes. The mirror was there, and I took a second to look at myself. I could see every bone in my body, no X-RAY was needed. My face hadn’t changed much. My veins were blue from all the vervain. I was ugly. No, I was hideous. I quickly turned around, laid myself in the hot water, and scrubbed everything off of me.
Tears mixed in so you never knew I was crying. I hated myself at this moment. I stayed so long until my skin was raw, and my skin pruned up like a raisin. I used a lot of conditioners to take the tangles from my hip-length hair, but it was matted. There was no saving it. I took my claws out and cut my hair. It now sat on my shoulders. Still disgusted in myself, that was the last time for a while I looked at my reflection. I was a broken and sad person. My name is now Kyla, and my back story is unknown. I guess it’ll come as I tell it. Hopefully, no one will push that hard. It was time for me to go down and start living my life.
I held the rail of the stairs as I went down because my balance wasn’t great. But when I got down and ended up in the kitchen all eyes were on me. The room was silent, and it made me more uncomfortable. I stood there frozen hoping no one would attack me knowing I am not from here.
“Enough, leave the girl alone,” a voice sprang out.
I jumped, knowing it was the Alpha. I turned around and suddenly everything around me didn’t matter. I think he noticed too. What in the fuck? l already had a mate. Why was I drawn to him?
“Hey babe, your sister is asking for you,” a woman pulled up beside him but she caught his stare and looked over to me.
“Who are you?” she asked. Did she realize what was going or was it just everyone else? “No one important.”
I headed towards the front door to get some fresh air. This was too much, I needed to leave here no matter how nice everyone is. He had someone and I was not emotionally available either. Strolling through the pack taking in my surroundings, I noticed that there was an area with lockers for people to store things so they can shift. Fancy. I walked over and found an empty one and took all my clothes off and placed them in there. I hadn’t shifted in I don’t know how long so it was going to hurt.
“Hey, Kyla, what are you up to?” Lisa came over.
“I want to go for a run. I have not shifted in a few months.” An uncomfortable look appeared on her face.
“Kyla, you do realize you were in there for about eight months, right?”
Taken back by the news, I started to freak out. I lost track of time, but eight months?
“Let me take you on a run.” She started stripping off her stuff and placing it in a locker near mine.
“This is going to be painful so give me a minute.” I stretched out my muscles. I tried to connect with my other half, but it wasn’t coming out as much as I strained myself.
“Just relax, stop forcing yourself.” I didn’t listen to a word she said and continued with only some of me shifting. Sweat covered my body and tears poured from my eyes. Breathing excessively a hand was placed on my shoulder that seemed to ease me before I came to a full shift.
My wolf legs were wobbly. I went to face Lisa, but I met the Alpha’s stare. He had his hand on me. He looked at me with so much confusion and I think he was still stunned by our discovery. I tilted my head in respect before I darted towards the woods at full sprint. If it wasn’t bad enough, I had the Alpha King wanting me with his newly found brother Beta. Now I had another Alpha who I seemed to share a connection with, and I couldn’t understand why. I’ve learned the hard way that coming in between people always divides us so I will stay out of it. Don’t engage and leave when I am strong enough. This run was the beginning of me gaining my strength and finding the sort of independence I lacked. I was not mature enough to be in a healthy relationship. The distance that is set between everyone will have a wall so far up that it will be not breakable.
