Chapter 62

But my heart dropped when I got to the empty ground nearly the highway. This was the same place that Jax died in my arms. Everything was the same except the fact that I was seeing from afar. But there was Jax who was fighting for his life.

“I have to shift. They are in trouble.”

But he was not having it. He grabbed hold of both of the wrists and forced me to look at him. Suddenly, everything around was zoning out and the voice in my head had disappeared. Where the fuck is my wolf? I looked at him and he took a step back.

“You can have her back after, now tell me how to shift?”

He had taken my wolf from me, and I don’t know how he did but now was not the time to think about that. He had to be the hero.

“Focus on your hands and imagine them as paws. Imagine how they feel when they are running through the ground. Let my wolf had full control and submit to her.”

He took my words in and did exactly that as he went through his first shift. For the first time, I’ve seen my wolf outside of my body and she was beautiful. He had my rage one too so that made things easier. I talked in my head to see if he could hear me and to my surprise he did.

“Use your senses. You can smell, hear, and see better. Protect your neck and show no god damn mercy.”

He let out a growl that showed he understood what I was saying. So just like that, he was off slashing some throats. I ran off to a higher area to get a better view and to hide. I tapped into my thought process and felt the darkness coming out in tiny bits.

“Son of a bitch fucking work!”

But before I can think more, I was shoved to the ground hitting my head. I was now wolfless so my only form of knowing protection was gone. It was a hunter, and he was bloody and pissed. This was the time to start putting my training into play. He came for me, and I used my legs to kick him off of me. When he backed up, he took a knife from his holster and pointed it at me. Shit. He came for me, and I managed to move my body so he could run past me to which he did. I kicked his back causing him to fall but not before he swiped my leg with the knife causing me to wince. He took that moment to put his fist in my face that made me fall down. I put my hands over my stomach as he started to kick me. Which each kick came to a different madness. And suddenly the darkness had taken over as he was thrown off of me. It was my body, but I was watching it as it went through its own paces. I cleared a pathway knowing everything in my path. I got back to the empty field with everyone fighting knowing this has to end before someone gets hurt.

“ENOUGH!” I yelled.

I swiped my hand down causing a force that pushed everyone back. There was no more fighting happening just listening. With this newfound power, I knew I had the chance to make amends. The wolves have sat on the sidelines being told what they can and cannot do. I was dying and It would make sense that for the first time the humans suffer because of us but that wasn’t the kind of example I wanted to set.

“I am Haddess. Goddess of the underworld. With this fight, most of you will be making a home in hell. Many have died today, and you’ve taken some of the innocents in your need to have power. Humans have ruled for many years and killed my people.”

My hand was still raised so that no weapons could be raised in a moment of vulnerability.

“Wolves are superior. We held back and we no longer will.”

I used my energy to take some of the barriers down.

“Wolves takeover. Seclude the humans out to an area that will have resources. I think it’s fair they live the way we had to. Create a gate guarded so we can continue to protect our kind.”

One by one they started to take over. We flooded the city causing mayhem. I won’t allow it to get as bad as it did before. Nazari walked to me and shifted back. I think he actually enjoyed being a wolf, and I wish there was a way I could give that to him. Maybe there is but I think it will have to be from Athena which I am sure she wouldn’t mind.

“Can you give me my wolf back. I’m naked without her.”

He just smiled before grabbing hold of me and transferring her back. When she was back, I felt her get giddy like she enjoyed her short time with him. I mean he was a lot of fun so I can understand.

“You’re doing good so far, I am glad you found your inner darkness. But I also enjoyed being a wolf, so I see what the fuss is about.”

Alizac and Jax had walked over to us covered in blood and breathing rapidly. I didn’t feel like I used to especially since I just ended things two days ago. But it wasn’t what was important right now because we had other things to attend to.

“Well, you got what you wanted. I have to head back now to hell. Good luck with everything both of you.”

“Ryleigh, wait up.”

I turned around to face them again. Nazari stood there with me, but I guess it’s due to him being my right hand. The pain that displayed on his face was hard.
