Chapter 61

My nerves were up knowing that people I love could die today. I wanted to be there, but I couldn’t risk getting hurt. I got down to hell and was immediately bowed down to. They led me to the castle to where I found the room of Hades now belonging to the room of Haddess. Which is me. A royal dress was prepared for me. I walked over and felt it in my hands. I was to be officially crowned and I was ready. The housemaids helped me into the red and black dress. I had wanted red since it resembles me. The way it clung to my hips and pushed up my breasts made me look like a woman. I felt like a woman, and I am the Queen of the Underworld.

“You look beautiful.”

I looked in the mirror to see that Nazari was leaning on the doorway staring at me. I hated how nervous he made me feel to the point I questioned if certain things were good enough.

“So, are you ready to run hell?”

I dusted myself off and turned to face him. I almost forgot he was down here, and he was the only jerk I know who had my back.

“As ready as I can be. So, I never got to thank you for everything you did while I was done here. I do appreciate it even though I have been a jerk to you.”

He walked closer to me and just smiled.

“More like a bitch but we don’t need to get into that. I am just glad that everything worked out for you and that our new leader has a brain.”

He held his elbow out for me to take it, which I had happily taken.

“Let me escort you since you probably have never been there.”

We walked for a while in silence until we got to the door. There had to be some way that I could repay him. I mean I had that power to do so now.

“Thank you for walking me. Now Zari, how would you feel about me bringing you back to life to live in a world that has a sun?”

The look on his face said it all. Is that something he had always wanted? I’d be honored to do something like that for someone who had my back. That’s what friends do.

“You’d do that? After the sins, I’ve done?” He asked.

I grabbed hold of his hand and just nodded. But before he finished, he wrapped his arms around me. It was just the kind of difference I wanted to make. We entered into the throne room and there was the council and the Gods and Goddesses.

“This is the end of the line for me.”

I took my walk slowly until I was at the stairs.

“Here, here. May I introduce Ryleigh? Queen of the Underworld. As we change her title to Haddess, who took down our last King, bringing us a new ruler.”

I started my walk up the flight of stairs and I was being watched by thousands and thousands of people. And right before my eyes sat the throne that is to change everything forever. I met a pair of eyes that once held a piece of my heart but now meant nothing to me. I kept eye contact with Hades as I took my seat and watched everyone submit to me. I reached my hand out down to Nazari who was still at the door.

“As Queen, there are some changes that are being made.”

Nazari started his walk up the flight of stairs.

“But one thing that won’t change is the second guy in command.”

He walked up and now he was by my side. Respect deserves a reward. He placed his hand on my shoulder and for the first time, I was happy for doing something right. When that ended, I found myself changing back to my regular clothes so I can unwind until I have to make some executive decisions. This was the perfect time to take a well-needed break. I was still pregnant and that was my first priority. I don’t know how long I was sleeping when the door opened up and it was Nazari.

“Hey, Athena has been trying to get ahold of you. Something is going wrong with the war, and you’re needed.”

I jumped out of bed frantically looking for my shoes even though I didn’t need them, but I was still half asleep.

“Alright, well let's go,” I said.

I grabbed his hand and rushed us to the gates so that we could hurry down. The demon guards opened them and one by one we both exited hell. I was worried beyond control, but nothing prepared me for the damage that was already caused. By the time we got there, it was a bloodbath. I looked at Zari and realized this was going to require something I can’t do while pregnant which was to shift because if I get hit, I could lose the baby. This is going to involve dark magic. But I couldn’t think of Jax or Alizac getting hurt. Or other people too. I looked at a Zari who was next to me waiting for my call.

“I can’t shift. I risk getting hit in the stomach. I don’t know how to use my newly found magic.”

He looked at me and let out a frustrated sigh. Probably not the best leader right now but I had to do something or anything at all.

“Just stay behind me and try to figure out your inner demon. You have to focus on the rage,” he said.

He cleared the path for me while I made my way through the city. There was no way that I could reach them, and my wolf and I were trying to connect in order to find the power. This could end badly, and I wasn’t ready.
