Chapter 712 Lillian, You Will Help Me
Chapter 712 Lillian, You Will Help Me
Leah glanced over at Alexander, "Why didn't you ask my brother to go with you?"
"He still has to work this afternoon." Lillian asked coquettishly, "Did I interrupt something? Is this inconvenient for you?"
Leah quickly said, "There's nothing going on."
She agreed, "Okay then, let me see my friend out first."
Lillian gave Brian a gentle smile, "Sorry about this."
"Mrs. Sinclair, no need to be polite." Brian bowed slightly with a refined manner, "I won't disturb you two any longer. Please enjoy your meal with Mr. Sinclair."
"Let's go," Leah said to him.
Lillian returned to her seat and watched through the glass window as Leah saw Brian to his car, stood there chatting for a couple more sentences, and finally watched the car drive away.
Leah came back to the restaurant and sat down next to Lillian.
"He's gone," Lillian asked, "So how do you feel?"
Leah shrugged, "Nothing special really, no feelings."
"Not even a little bit attracted?"
"Nope." She shook her head.
Lillian said, "If there's no spark, don't force yourself. Find something else to do, distract yourself a bit, it'll help."
Leah looked at Alexander across from them, who was eating his meal slowly and methodically, and said, "Alexander, what do you think of Brian?"
"It's not about what I think, it's about how you feel being with him," Alexander put down his utensils, pulled out a napkin to wipe his mouth, and said.
Leah said bluntly, "He's not Kevin, what good feelings could I possibly have?"
Alexander looked up at her briefly but said nothing.
Lillian chimed in, "That's right, if it's not someone you like, no matter how great they are, you won't feel that spark."
Leah's eyes suddenly turned red. She quickly grabbed a tissue to dab at her eyes and said pitifully, "I'm so sick of living like this! I can't even be with the person I like!"
Alexander said, "Besides Mom and me not agreeing, has Kevin ever told you he likes you?"
"It's only because you're blocking him that he won't say it!" Leah shouted urgently.
"What about hints through actions or words? Even just a look? From what I can see, you've always been the one chasing him, pursuing him."
Alexander said, "In this world, only coughs and love can't be hidden."
Leah argued back, "It's not what you think! With you around, how could Kevin show his feelings? He does like me, when I kissed him, he had a reaction!"
As soon as she said it, she realized she'd said the wrong thing. Her face turned bright red and she covered her forehead awkwardly with her hand.
Alexander's expression darkened, "Kevin told me he doesn't like you. Do you know what that means? He told me his thoughts directly. He won't go back on what he said!"
Leah's face turned red with anger, her hands gripping the tablecloth as if she might flip the table at any moment!
Lillian quickly spoke up, "Honey, are you done eating? You need to get back to the office."
Alexander looked at his sister, his tone softening a bit, "I just want you to face reality and completely give up on Kevin."
"Alexander, this is my business, why are you acting like Mom?" Leah asked through gritted teeth.
"This isn't just your business, it's the Sinclair family's business." After Alexander finished speaking, he stood up first, "I'm heading back to the office. You two have a good afternoon shopping."
Leah watched Alexander get in his car and leave with fire in her eyes, then angrily said to Lillian, "What kind of man did you marry? Domineering! Unreasonable!"
"You've known him longer than I have, and you're asking me?" Lillian teased, "Don't be angry yet, I'm on your side."
"What good are you? Can you convince my mom or persuade my brother?" Leah asked dismissively, taking her anger out on her.
Lillian got upset when she heard this, "Then go fight your battle alone! Right, I can't convince Mom, and as for your brother, on matters of principle, he really doesn't listen to me. I'm just useless, who would think anything of me?"
While talking, she flipped her hair, "Tonight I'll have Mr. Martin buy me some fried chicken. I'm in a bad mood and need high-calorie food to deal with my depression."
She continued, fiddling with her phone for show, muttering to herself, "I have Mr. Martin's Facebook pinned at the top, I'll send him a message right now."
"Lillian!" Leah grabbed her arm, her eyes glancing at the phone screen where Kevin's chat window was open.
"What do you mean by this? I'm useless, you've got the wrong person."
"Lillian, don't say that, I said the wrong thing just now." Leah said with a grin, "Lillian, you'll help me, right?"
"How can I help? My abilities are limited." Lillian spread her hands.
"Lillian, I want to come to your place for dinner tonight. Even better if you could let me stay over!"
Lillian looked at her reproachfully, "Do you think your brother is stupid? Be careful or Kevin will get transferred away, then what will you do? Taking it step by step is more reliable."
"Okay." Leah nodded, then said to Lillian from the heart, "Lillian, I really can't accept this! I have to make Kevin admit he likes me!"
"Leah..." Lillian's lips moved, but she swallowed back the rest of her words.
"Let's go too." Lillian grabbed her bag and left the restaurant with Leah.
There was less than a week until Henry and William's birthday. Time flies so fast, they were turning two years old.
"Lillian, don't just think about the kids, it's your birthday that day too."
Lillian smiled, "Once I became a mom, my heart got completely filled with the kids. I just want to give them a happy birthday."
"It's okay, you have my brother. He dotes on you so much, he'll definitely prepare something for you too."
Lillian said, "Your brother did ask me before. I don't want to make it too complicated, just celebrating at home with the kids is fine. No need for a separate thing."
"You and my brother are so happy together!" Leah said enviously, "Mom accepts you, my brother dotes on you, why is the difference so big?"
"I asked your brother about it too. He said men and women are different!" Lillian said, "The main reason Mom accepts me is because I gave birth to twins! Otherwise, she probably still wouldn't accept me!"
"Henry and William really knew how to time it!" Leah suddenly thought of something and stopped talking.
Lillian didn't notice her change in mood and pulled her into the Prada store.
The two shopped until after 6 PM, with plenty of purchases.
Lillian bought airplane and car models that Henry and William liked as birthday gifts.
Leah also bought two sets of brand-name children's clothes for her nephews.
The two sat in a dessert shop, one trying on newly bought lipstick, the other trying on newly bought earrings.
"Lillian, does it look good?" Leah tilted her head slightly to show her.
"It looks good."
Little strawberry design covered in crystals, cute and playful.
"Lillian, are we still getting fried chicken tonight?" Leah asked meaningfully.
