Chapter 700 I Am the Defeated Opponent

Chapter 700 I Am the Defeated Opponent

Lillian said, "Usually the shoes are hidden in the bride's wedding dress."

Qiana said, "That won't work. They'll definitely know and find them right away. That's no fun."

Shirley stood nearby thinking for a moment, then said, "Give me one shoe. I'll put it in my bag. I guarantee they won't think of that."

"That's a great idea!" Wendy said. "Let's put it in Shirley's bag then."

After Pearl put the shoe in, she said to Shirley, "We can ask for more gifts this way."

With the shoes hidden, Wendy ate some pasta, and then all that was left was to sit on the bed and wait.

Everyone took some fun photos together. When it was almost time, Lillian called Alexander to ask where they were.

"Past the overpass? That's close!" Lillian said, "Okay, got it."

She hung up and told Wendy, "They're past the overpass. They'll be here in about ten minutes."

Wendy's heart, which had relaxed earlier, suddenly tensed up again. She couldn't help wringing her hands together, her face flushed as she asked, "That fast?"

"Wendy, you think it's too fast?" Pearl asked with a giggle, covering her mouth.

Angela comforted Wendy, saying, "Don't be nervous. Once things get lively, you'll be fine. Take deep breaths."

Wendy took a few deep breaths. "I'm not nervous. Getting married is such a happy thing, I should be excited."

More than ten minutes later, everyone heard the lively chatter outside, followed quickly by knocking on the door.

"They're here!" Wendy said excitedly to the bridesmaids and friends blocking the door. "Don't be too hard on them!"

Jessica walked over, adjusted her wedding dress, and shook her head helplessly.

Outside the door, Caspian knocked and shouted loudly, "Dad, Mom, I'm here to pick up Wendy. Please open the door!"

The bridesmaids carefully opened the door a crack. Pearl's slender arm reached out, and the person inside said, "Where are the gifts?"

Tom placed a gift in her palm. "Open the door!"

Pearl pulled her hand back and closed the door again, showing everyone the gift.

"One isn't enough!" Qiana shouted. "If you want to marry Wendy, show some sincerity!"

Caspian said, "No problem. As long as you open the door, you'll get plenty of gifts!"

Qiana stuck her hand out again and indeed received a big gift.

Wendy was getting a bit impatient waiting in the room and called out, "That's enough, let them in. Don't miss the timing!"

Lillian and Angela peeked into the room. "Can you not take your husband's side so quickly?"

Shirley and the other two asked for three more gifts in a row but still wouldn't open the door. This really got the groomsmen and groom worked up. While tricking the bridesmaids with gifts, they burst right through the door! A bunch of guys came flooding in, making the girls scream. They tried to stop them but couldn't!

As the leader, Tom burst through the door but couldn't stop his momentum in time and lunged toward one of the girls.

"Sorry," Tom said repeatedly while holding the girl.

Shirley was caught off guard by the sudden collision and lost her footing, but fortunately he caught her, saving her from embarrassment.

She steadied herself and looked up at the clumsy person in front of her. After a slight pause, a mocking smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.

Tom also got a clear look at who it was and exclaimed "damn it!" in shock, actually stepping back two steps.

How could it be her?

Shirley asked with a mocking smile, "Tom, your face healed up already? That was pretty fast."

Shirley was the classmate from the taekwondo class who had beaten Tom black and blue.

Tom straightened his suit and glanced at her. "I was going easy on you last time."

"Really?" Shirley chuckled. "Too bad you stopped coming to taekwondo class. Otherwise we could have a proper match again. I don't like going easy on people!"

"Taekwondo got boring. Don't get cocky. There's always someone better. I hope you meet your match soon," Tom said irritably.

While the two bickered in the living room, in the bedroom, Wendy and Caspian were going through the wedding ceremony, reading their marriage vows.

Tom looked at her sideways and asked, "You're a bridesmaid?"

"What? Is that strange?" Shirley asked.

Tom returned a mocking smile. "Not strange exactly. I just think someone as rough as you might not be cut out for such a gentle and pretty role as bridesmaid."

Shirley was unhappy to hear this. "Which eye of yours saw me being rough? You think I'm more manly than you just because I beat you up once? I don't think you've seen what real roughness looks like." She finished by shaking her wrists a couple times.

Tom reflexively stepped back, asking somewhat nervously, "What are you doing?"

Shirley looked at his cowardly appearance, gave him another contemptuous smile, rolled her eyes at him, and ignored him.

In the room, the newlyweds had reached the shoe-finding part but still hadn't found them. Someone said that if they weren't on the bride, they must be on a bridesmaid.

Alexander came out and said to Tom, "Check if Shirley has the bride's shoes on her."

Tom looked at him speaking so naturally and asked, "Alexander, you know her?"

"Of course, she's my secretary!" Alexander said, then turned back to Caspian.

Tom acknowledged this and looked at Shirley. His mind involuntarily recalled how badly he'd been beaten, and he felt a bit intimidated. He licked his lips and asked, "Do you have the shoes or not?"

Shirley crossed her arms, tilted her head, and said leisurely, "What do you think?" Then she playfully moved the bag on her arm.

Tom cleared his throat lightly, rubbed his nose with his hand, and said, "If you have them, just take them out. Have some fun with it, but don't delay their wedding."

Shirley said, "I don't have them."

Tom looked at her, then asked Caspian, "Did you find the shoes?"

"No, neither of my bridesmaids have them. They might be with Shirley." Caspian came out of the room, walked up to Shirley, and said with a flattering smile, "Shirley, hand over the shoes."

"You want me to just hand them over like that? No way!" Shirley snorted.

Caspian immediately offered a gift.

Shirley accepted it and said to him, "I have one more condition!"

"Name it. I'll agree to anything!"

Shirley raised her chin toward Tom. "Make him come over and say 'I'm the loser' to me three times. Then I'll hand over the shoes."

Lillian made cheering sounds and started clapping.

When Tom heard this, his eyes widened and he blurted out, "Are you dreaming?"
