Chapter 698 A Hasty Proposal
Chapter 698 A Hasty Proposal
Harmony City is located in a coastal area and is famous for its seafood. Most of the snacks at the market are made with seafood as the main ingredient. But there are also non-seafood snacks, though I don't know if it's just psychological - they still seem to taste like seafood when you eat them.
Wendy held Caspian's hand, holding a squid skewer in her other hand, and asked him, "Honey, what fun things are there around here?"
"What do you want to do? Harmony City isn't that different from Rihegde, except it's by the sea and the scenery is prettier than ours," Caspian told her. "Let's head back after we finish looking around, so we can rest up for the photo shoot tomorrow."
"Okay, now that I'm pregnant, I've gotten much lazier. Let's eat something and then go back."
The two finished browsing the market, walked around the area a bit, and then headed back.
There were quite a few people on the beach. Wendy and Caspian walked hand in hand along the sand.
"Honey, let me ask you something," she said. "Since we've been together, have I done anything that touched your heart?"
"Of course you have," Caspian said with feeling. "Every meal you cook for me really touches me."
"Really? What's so touching about cooking?" Wendy asked curiously.
Caspian said, "Your cooking makes me feel at home. You don't know this, but when I was little, my parents were always busy, and the nanny at home didn't really care about me. Her cooking wasn't good either. Back then, I just wanted to eat one meal made by my mom."
"That's so sad!"
"I know, right? Even though my family had money, I was really pitiful," Caspian said, putting on a pitiful expression. Then he asked her, "What about you? What touched you?"
Wendy said, "Do you even need to ask? Of course it was when we had that car accident and you risked your life to save me! In that moment, my heart moved. I thought you were so manly!"
"So that's the moment you fell in love with me!" Caspian said with a bit of pride.
"Yes, I fell in love with you!"
Caspian pulled her close and kissed the top of her head tenderly. "Darling, thank you for loving me."
Wendy replied, "You're welcome."
"Wait, shouldn't you also say 'thank you for loving me too'? It's only fair."
"No, when you thank me, I should say 'you're welcome.' That's the correct answer," Wendy said with a playful smile, breaking free from his embrace and running ahead.
"Slow down! Be careful with the baby!" Caspian called out worriedly from behind and chased after her.
At some point, the beach had gradually emptied out, with people heading back.
Wendy said, "Honey, let's go back too."
"Okay, let's go," Caspian said, looking ahead. "Darling, look at the beach up there - what's that red glow?"
Wendy looked into the distance and said, "It looks like candles. That red is candlelight."
"Come on, let's go see," Caspian said, pulling her hand and walking toward it.
As they got closer, Wendy saw candles lit on the sand, arranged in the shape of a heart.
"Honey, it looks like someone's proposing," Wendy whispered to Caspian, covering her mouth with her hand.
Caspian just smiled without saying anything. He walked in front of her, slowly got down on one knee, held up a diamond ring, and gazed at her deeply. "Wendy, please marry me!"
Wendy was both shocked and delighted by his sudden gesture. Covering her mouth, she asked in disbelief, "Caspian, are you proposing to me?"
"Isn't it obvious enough?" Caspian said with a smile. "Darling, will you marry me?"
People around them were watching, and everyone started shouting in unison, "Say yes! Say yes!"
Tears of joy rolled down Wendy's face as she said playfully, "You're already calling me darling - what do you think?"
She extended her hand. Caspian took out the ring and slipped it onto her finger.
Caspian stood up, embraced Wendy, and kissed her.
The onlookers burst into warm applause, offering their blessings.
After the crowd dispersed, Wendy walked back to the hotel with her arm linked through Caspian's.
"Honey, when did you arrange all this? What made you think of proposing here?" she asked, puzzled.
"I'm actually embarrassed to say!" Caspian said, looking a bit sheepish. "Before this, I was so focused on getting our marriage certificate that I completely overlooked the proposal. That's my fault - how could I overlook something so important?"
"Today when I was chatting with the photographer, he showed me some photos we're going to take. One of them had me kneeling on one knee, gently holding your hand. It suddenly hit me that I hadn't proposed to you yet! I felt really bad about it, like I'd shortchanged you."
Wendy said, "I figured you'd forgotten, but I didn't blame you. Still, I'm really happy you proposed!"
"It was so rushed, I didn't prepare well enough. The proposal was a bit simple. When we get back to Rihegde, I'll give you a more elaborate one!"
"Why would you need to do that again? We've already got our marriage certificate, we're having a baby - I'm very satisfied."
"Are you sure? You're not just saying that?"
"Really, why would I lie about this?" Wendy held out her hand, looking at the sparkling diamond ring with contentment. "Having this is enough."
Caspian laughed. "If you like it, I'll buy you an even bigger one for the wedding."
"Well, thank you in advance," Wendy said with a bright smile that made Caspian's heart race.
Over the next three days, they took wedding photos while touring Harmony City. After finishing, they returned to Rihegde.
The wedding day was approaching, and the preparations were almost complete. The groomsmen and bridesmaids' outfits had been delivered to Caspian's house.
"Call them to come pick them up. If anything doesn't fit, we can send it back quickly to get the size adjusted," Wendy told the butler.
"Yes, Mrs. Wade," the butler replied and went to make the calls.
Soon, the three groomsmen arrived - two cousins plus Tom. The three knew each other and were chatting and laughing together. On the bridesmaids' side, Wendy's two cousins also came, and they were secretly amazed at seeing such a big house.
Pearl said to Wendy, "Wendy, your husband's family is really rich."
Qiana said, "Didn't Aunt Jessica already tell us that Caspian's situation was good?"
"It really is good!" Pearl said. "Wendy, are you now like a trophy wife like they show on TV?"
"It's not that dramatic. My life is pretty ordinary," Wendy said modestly. "You guys should go try on the dresses and see if they fit."
Qiana picked up a dress, glanced over at Caspian's side, and asked, "Are those three the groomsmen? What's their relationship to your husband?"
Wendy said, "Two cousins and a good friend."
"I see," Qiana said thoughtfully. "Wendy, does the tallest one have a girlfriend? Can you introduce me?"
Wendy looked over - Qiana was talking about Tom.
