Charlotte
Alexia was lying on the ground, trying to keep her eyes fixed on me, she frowned and looked like she was in pain. I stopped five steps away from her and smiled, feeling the taste of victory.
"I don't know what kind of clothes you're wearing, but even that won't save you Alexia, you're weak, you always have been. You've never been enough to be anything in this life, it's time to stop pretending you're a princess, you've lived too long!" I took the sword out of its sheath and looked into her face, she could barely keep her eyes fixed on me.
Spitting out a little blood, she put her hand on her stomach and tears welled up in her eyes.
"I can't die, not now," she said, trying futilely to get up.
"You should have died a long time ago, by George's sword, and then my parents would still be alive!" I said, feeling my body seize with rage. "You're an ungrateful bitch who turned against your sovereign and betrayed me in every way!"
"I can't die!" Alexia said with her eyes full of tears and her hand on her stomach, I looked at her and seeing a slight relief I understood why she kept repeating that she couldn't die now.
I laughed in disbelief, as if it was all a big joke, the maid had become a princess and now she was pregnant.
"You think you're going to beget Olimper's heir, that's very bold of you!" I said with disdain and anger, so I didn't hold back and started shouting "You bastard! How did you manage to bewitch Prince Estevan, how did you manage to remain in the position of princess after everyone found out about your real identity, how can you be happy when all I have are my dead parents, a marriage that failed, how can I be a widow, how did you corrupt my mind so much? I'm the one who should be happy, but you've taken everything away from me Alexia!"
"Charlotte, what are you talking about?" She asked, frowning. "I didn't take anything from you, I didn't even kill your parents."
She lifted her face to look at me and there wasn't a hint of remorse or regret, making me even angrier.
"If you'd lived a third of my life you'd know that I didn't betray you, I just wanted to be free and not hurt you, I was just trying to live my life with the only family I could find" She wiped the corner of her mouth and managed to sit down on the floor with difficulty, then raised her face again "I'm sorry about your parents! Things were supposed to be different and I'm sorry, especially that you're such a monster, but your unhappiness isn't my fault, you did it to yourself!"
I gripped the sword tightly, biting my lip, feeling the rage take me over. I raised the sword above the sun, Alexia looked different, she didn't look away or close her eyes, she stared at me, her face rigid.
"Say your last words, Alexia"
Alexia's eyes shifted from mine, she looked away and followed her gaze to see the dragon flying over the city, Estevan's dragon which was approaching over the battlefield.
I turned quickly to her and threw my sword down at Alexia, the roar of the dragon and the impact of the sword, the scream of a single man.
Something was wrong, over an invisible barrier that seemed to protect her Alexia still kept her eyes fixed on me, her expression turned to anger and the barrier propelled me backwards like a small explosion, I raised my face quickly and looked at her frightened, Alexia stood up slowly and on wobbly legs and they soon steadied, her eyes turned white and she began to speak words I didn't understand throwing me away, the dragon roared and seemed to feel the impact and the pain, it came towards me and I quickly climbed on top of it and flew up into the sky and ran into Estevan's dragon which attacked me with force and precision, Estevan's eyes seemed determined and fixed on mine, I screamed as I felt the pain of the dragon's claws on my back as if they were on me and I flew away, Alexia came up behind me and I found myself cornered.
Her dragon opened its mouth spewing fire, just like Estevan's, leaving me cornered, I spun over the skies and began to lose control of the dragon, it landed badly on the ground, I felt lost, everything was happening too fast when I looked up at the skies I didn't see the dragon, she was in front of me.
Alexia climbed down from the dragon and started saying words I didn't understand and a sequence of thoughts came to mind, when she was only eleven and I had made her fall down the stairs, Alexia walked normally as if she hadn't been hurt, sometimes her injuries took weeks and sometimes not, the most serious ones seem to heal quickly, as if by magic.
Totally focused on me, she walked towards me, my whole body rigid and stiff, unable to run, realizing that I had frozen, I had lost control of my own body, she was trapping me and making me terrified. Alexia came at a calm pace with her eyes focused on me as she said something in the witches' language, her hands slightly raised and her voice harsh with anger, I looked at her without understanding, she seemed so firm as if she had been doing this for years, as I had never noticed W
"I should know who you are" I said in a harsh voice "Your father must have been a witch"
She pulled one of my hands back making me fall to my knees on the floor, I raised my face to look at her, I was frightened by her power.
"You should never have been born!"
"Shut up" she said shouting and then my lips closed and no voice came out of my throat "All my life I've listened to your anger, your curses, I've accepted you humiliating me and beating me all my life, why Charlotte? I'd like to understand where so much anger comes from? You're a deep pit of greed!"
I looked at her angrily and tried to speak, but I couldn't, she didn't want to hear me.
"Nothing that comes out of your lips is worth listening to," she said, stopping in front of me. "You've always been jealous because even though you hurt me, humiliated me, I still smiled, I was still good, something that never was, because you're miserable."
She raised her hand again and my heart raced.
"You can't stand the idea of me being happy, you need to blame me for everything that's gone wrong thanks to your choices, not mine. You're going to die along with this ridiculous war!"
Alexia slowly squeezed my hand and it felt as if someone was squeezing me, squeezing me until I began to suffocate, my bones broke, my ribs and the blood invaded my lungs, the dragon began to take steps on the ground, he tried to run away, but he couldn't either, his wings atrophied and he fell to the ground taking his last breaths, everything went dark and the last thing I heard was Alexia's voice.
