Chapter 25
Bella felt her heart racing as she couldn’t help but feel a sense of fear and anger come over her. She shook her head profusely as she rushed over towards the sight of her father that was passed out of the floor. she felt her eyes begin to clear as she struggled to breath. While choking back a sob.
“No this couldn’t be possible there was no way that he was gone.” She grabbed a hold of his shirt. “Dad. Please wake up?!” she cried out.
She placed her head on his chest and she felt relieved to see that his heart was still beating. It was slow but it was still breathing in there. She let out a sigh as she moved back away from him. She didn’t know how to even explain what had happened to him. She could feel her hand trembling beside her as she tried to remain calm. She tried to swallow the lump that had formed in her chest as she closed her eyes and channeled her magic.
She heard as he let out a loud gasp from his lips before he shot up abruptly. She could hear him breathing heavily as he glanced around. He turned towards her with a look of absolute fear on his face as he stared at her wide eyes in shock.
“What the hell was that?” Her father said to her breathlessly. She slightly moved back away from him because the truth was that she was unable to explain to him what had happened either.
She let out a sigh from her lips. “I don't know dad.” she said as she just remembered. Bright flashing light blinded her and then everything went dark. She tried not to let what had happened affect her but she couldn’t help but shudder at her thoughts. She was pulled out of it when she heard the door to the backyard being pulled open.
“What the hell happened?'' she heard her mother call out and she felt a wave of embarrassment come over her. She didn’t know how she would be able to explain to her that she had lost control of her magic and she had ended up attacking her.
“I-“ she started but she never got to finish her sentence as she watched as her father stood up to his feet and looked at her with a head nod before he began to explain what had happened. “We were just messing around with the magic and I believe that it got a little bit out of hand. “ He said to her and she could tell that their mother didn’t fully believe her.
She was lost in her own thoughts as she slowed her mother to lead them back into the house. She didn’t know how to feel about what had happened but she knew that she had never felt anything quite as strong or as powerful as that. She felt her hands begin to shake at the very thought and she turned towards her father with a pained expression on his face. She had done that to him.
They made their way back into the house as they took a seat down on the couch together before her mother turned to look at the both of them with a sigh. “You need to be more careful, the both of you might be witches but that doesn’t mean that you are invincible.” She heard her mother say.
“Now come on let me heal you.” She said as she scolded Ezra. She watched as her mother bit down hard on her wrist allowing for the blood to flow from it before she slowly brought t it up to his lips. He took it gingerly and Bella had to turn away from the intimate moment.
Only mates were allowed to share blood because it usually led to the formation of blood pacts and so it was considered a very intimate act for most people.
She was pulled out of her thoughts when she felt her mother grab a hold of her hand and yanked her over towards her. “Now come on, show me where you got yours.” She demanded of her but she only shook her head at her in response. “I am fine mum. I will just sleep it off. It will be better in the morning.” She said and she watched as her parents tried to argue but she knew that it was no use.
“I am going to bed.” Bella said and they nodded their heads at her as she turned around to leave. “Just remember it isn’t your fault sweetheart. You are the first of your kind and so everything is new for you and so no one is going to blame you if you mess up a few times before getting it right.”
She heard her father call out from behind her but how many times was she expected to fail before she could actually succeed at get things right? She let out a sigh of frustration as she made her way into her room. She let out a sigh as she slumped down against the door the moment that she was in.
She didn’t want to think about what she had seen or what had happened to her hurt yet. She decided that it was best for her to sleep it off. She didn’t sleep for long though as soon enough she was woken up by the feeling of a searing hot pain that speeded over her back. She found herself struggling to breath as she scrambled her way over to the bathroom.
She tried to ease the pain with her magic but it was no use as she slowly peeled off her shirt. She gasped at the sight of the black ink that swirled across her left shoulder blade and formed a tribal pattern.
“What the hell was that?”
