Chapter 20
Bella tensed up at the table as she felt her heart begin to race. “Hey calm down. I am sure that there is nothing wrong. You haven’t done anything wrong have you. she heard her mother ask with a raised eyebrow and she immediately shook her head at her, “okay then it is fine I am sure that it is nothing’s he wanted to wish you happy birthday in advance.” She heard her mother ask and she only stared at her with a raised eyebrow. The chances of that happening are slim to none and they both knew that.
“Okay fine I doubt that. But we have calmed down. Your father had been here for so long obviously I think that it is time for the Alpha to grow up.” She said to them with an eye roll.
Nella sighed as she felt herself losing her appetite. She didn’t even want to think of what the reason for the alpha calling her was. She sighted s she ousted her food in front of her. “I think it is time for me to get going. “she said to them and she made her way over to them. The places a kiss on their foreheads before she pulled away from them.
“Okay goodluck and if he tried anything feel free to kick his ass.” she heard her mother call out and she rolled her eyes at him with a slight chuckle. It was weird how the Alpha was her mother's father and yet she was so callous when speaking of him.
Bella sighed as she made her way out of the house. Although she seemed calm, on the inside she was in fact freaking out. She tried her best to remain calm but her thoughts were all over the place.
Her alpha never liked her. He thought that she was a weapon and he thought that when she finally unlocked her hybrid abilities she would be unstoppable. She was stronger that the alpha and as such he didn’t like that and he felt intimidated by her. He didn’t want her mother to mate with a witch but Bella’s mother was the alpha’s second daughter and so he couldn’t risk losing her. Although Bella was his granddaughter he didn’t treat her as such. In fact they barely even acknowledged her as a member of his pack.
She passed by the training ground as she heard a loud grunt coming from it. She let out a sigh as she felt herself envying them. As most wolves shifted when they were fourteen but she was almost 18 now and she was hy to shift. People had treated her like a freak her entire life and when she had failed to disjoint it only made her feel even more different and more of a firewall that she already was.
Her mother and father had adored her that it was fine and stated everything about her was special and her abilities would come in at her own time. But her witch side was different and she had come into her powers at the age of five. Her parents had freak out when she had sneezed and ended up teleporting across the room.
She knew that she could have just teleported to the alpha’s house but she knew that her grandfather had made it very clear to her that she wasn’t allowed to use any of her powers around his home. She had to walk over and she knew that it was his own form of punishment for everything that had happened.
She could hear several whispers coming from around her and she didn’t her best to ignore them as she knew that it was always much easier for her to of that.
She made her way through the alhas home before she made her way up to his office. She sighed as she took in a deep breath before he said to her to come in. She hated how he put himself on a form of a pedestal above everyone else and he had his own superiority complex.
She sloppy made her way inside as she found him talking to her Uncle who was set to be the future alpha. She cleared her throat to get their attention and they turned towards her before Alpha turned back to Jay and said. “You can leave. “He said and she watched as uncle Jay began making his way out. “Hey short stacks.” He said to her and she rolled her eyes before she watched him leave.
Jay was the only one aside from her parents who truly cared for her. She turned back towards the alpha and took in his saggy skin and silver hair. And although he was over a hundred years ago he was still determined not to step down . “Now come and have a seat.” He said to her and she sighed before taking a seat.
“Alpha you asked for me.” she said to him as she tried to keep her voice firm. He let out a sigh from his lips and she watched him open up one of the drawers in the desk. He pulled out a box with intricate carvings before opening it to reveal a silver ring with a spore stone in the middle. “This used to be Celeste’s. She told me to give it to our daughter before she passed. Your mother was meant to have it but she didn't deserve it and she thought it was lost. But I kept it.” He said to her and she nodded her head at him not understanding what he was talking about.
“Well I want to give it to you.” He said to her and she widened her eyes. she wondered why he would do something like that. “But why?” She asked him and she sighed as he reached for her hand and slipped the ring onto her right hand. “Because you are my granddaughter and I believe that it is time for me to acknowledge that.”
She felt a warmth come over her at the fact that he had acknowledged her as his grandchild but as she looked into her emotions she could tell that there was something he was keeping from her.
“Tell me what the real reason you brought me here was.” She said to him as she narrowed her eyes on him. She watched as he gritted his teeth at her before saying, “You perky witch. I can’t hide anything from you. Well the truth is that you will be turning eighteen in two days and as such you will be needed to take part in protecting the pack. Most specifically the pack borders. ``He said to her .
“What do you mean? “ She asked through narrowed brows.
“You will use your witch powers to protect the borders or you can consider your stay in this pack over.” He spoke.
