Chapter 62 Asher
"Asher?"
Rachel's eyes widened slightly.
She knew the name all too well.
It was because of Asher's case that she had met Benjamin.
Last month, during the second trial, Asher was found not guilty and released.
But she didn't know Asher personally and had no clue about his current situation.
However, she knew Hestia, Heather's niece.
Heather's parents were of modest means. Her father had passed away early, and she was raised by her uncle's family, to whom she was very grateful.
Later, Heather was accepted by the Martinez family, and her uncle's family's status gradually improved.
Rachel had met Hestia a few times but didn't know her well.
The first time was at her wedding to Steven. The second was two months after the wedding at Heather's old home in Cypress Bay.
The third time was at Gavin's birthday party two years ago, where Heather had invited Hestia over for a few days.
The fourth was last summer when Hestia came to Dawnlight City for an internship and stayed at The Martinez Manor for two months.
Hestia studied art, and Heather had plans to have her join Stargaze Gallery after graduation.
Rachel remembered Hestia as a beautiful girl with excellent grades, a gentle and shy personality, who spoke softly and was adored by her family, especially as Heather's cousin's only child.
Heather had dragged Hestia into a gold-digger training class. Did the Sharp family and her cousin know about this?
However, Rachel hadn't seen Hestia's name on the roster of employees from the illegal operations.
Rachel's expression grew increasingly serious, and Carol asked, "Ms. Davis, is there something wrong with the scar cream? The person registered at the door, I can call to return it."
"No." Rachel looked up at her, a hint of a smile in her eyes, "You go ahead, don't worry about me."
"Okay. Call me if you need anything."
As soon as Carol left, Rachel's phone buzzed with a text message.
[Hestia arrived in Dawnlight City at the end of September and has been in the Radiant Beauty Spa illegal training class for over two months. She's not officially an employee of the illegal operations. Heather kept the gold-digger training class from the Martinez family and housed Hestia at her Diamond Ridge Estates property. Asher is Heather's chosen target for Hestia. Yesterday, Hestia staged an incident to have Asher play the hero. Tonight at 8:27 PM, she will stage another encounter at Starstruck Club.]
Hestia's tactics were neither sophisticated nor original.
But they were effective.
Especially on men.
Thinking of how Heather had slept her way to the top, Rachel smirked.
She was looking for a way to infiltrate the illegal operations at Radiant Beauty Spa, and Hestia seemed like a good entry point.
However, she would need Asher's help.
To keep Asher from falling into Hestia and Heather's trap, she had to warn him first.
But she wasn't sure what kind of person Asher was.
The problem was, she didn't know Asher. She rarely interacted with the playboys in Dawnlight City's elite circles, and wasn't familiar with them.
Rachel thought for a moment, her gaze falling on the scar cream in her hand.
Benjamin definitely knew Asher, and he was one of the few who knew about the illegal operations at Radiant Beauty Spa.
It was best to ask him for help.
With her decision made, she headed to her office, planning to visit Benjamin in the afternoon.
This morning, Autumn was coming to Stargaze Gallery to discuss an extension and a joint exhibition with Leo.
If they reached an agreement today, they would need to discuss the exhibition theme, curation plan, schedule, and rearrange the venue.
Organizing everything would take at least a month.
During this time, Stargaze Gallery wouldn't close; Autumn's solo exhibition would continue, and they needed to decide how long to extend it today.
After a two-hour meeting, they decided to extend Autumn's solo exhibition by 21 days.
Regarding the joint exhibition, Rachel would need to coordinate with Leo for further discussions.
Rachel and Autumn had lunch outside, and Rachel didn't mention her pregnancy. They chatted about trivial matters and recent events, had coffee nearby, and parted around 2 PM.
In the afternoon, Stargaze Gallery operated normally without any special events, and Rachel headed straight to Azure Sky Law Firm.
Before she reached the reception, she ran into Benjamin's assistant.
"Nathaniel."
"Ms. Davis?" Nathaniel looked surprised. "What brings you here?"
"I'm here to see Mr. Wright. Is he in?"
"Ms. Davis, you're in luck. Mr. Wright just got back from an appointment and is in his office. I'll take you up."
"Thank you."
On the fifth floor, Nathaniel knocked on the office door, gently pushed it open, and walked in. "Mr. Wright, Ms. Davis is here."
Benjamin, seated at his desk, shifted his gaze from the computer screen to Rachel. His deep, calm eyes showed no surprise at her arrival.
He noticed that Rachel had recovered, and spoke calmly, "Sit." He turned to Nathaniel, "Get her some water."
Nathaniel nodded and left the office.
Rachel sat down and took the scar cream from her bag. "You had Nathaniel send this to me, right? Thank you."
Benjamin didn't deny it. He knew that applying this would prevent scars. He had asked a friend to bring it from abroad a few days ago, thinking of her ankle injury.
As soon as he received it last night, he had Nathaniel deliver it this morning.
That night's incident was ultimately his debt to her.
His tone was casual. "Is your leg healed?"
"Almost, it's starting to scab." Rachel asked, "How about your injury?"
"It's fine," Benjamin replied tersely, paused for a few seconds, then reminded, "This scar cream should be used sparingly by pregnant women, every two days, and not too much at once."
Rachel was momentarily stunned. Did she detect a hint of probing in his words?
Sure enough, he had guessed it that night.
She wasn't surprised and candidly said, "Actually, I should thank Mr. Wright for helping me out at the hospital. I'm not really pregnant; I just wanted to calm Steven and my mother-in-law."
Benjamin had indeed guessed from her subtle reactions that night, but hearing her denial eased a tension he had carried for days.
Rachel continued, "Also, I need Mr. Wright to keep this secret. They mustn't know for now."
Benjamin nodded casually. "Why are you here today?"
Before he could finish, Nathaniel walked in with a glass of water and a cup of black coffee.
Benjamin took a sip of coffee, not in a hurry to speak, waiting for her to continue.
Rachel, not one to waste time, asked directly, "Do you know Asher well?"
Benjamin raised an eyebrow, thought for a second, and put down his cup. "Fairly well."
"How is he doing now?"
"After what happened, he's become more reserved." Benjamin sensed her intent. "Ms. Davis, feel free to speak your mind."
