Chapter 57: How Did She Know?

Chapter 57 How Did She Know?

Rachel took a detour to get here, but the ride was smooth and without any issues. As she arrived at Wheelside Haven Parking, she heard some commotion nearby.

It was now 8:17 PM, and Benjamin must have already met with the person at the parking lot.

The two bodyguards should have arrived as well, but the situation at the scene was still uncertain.

She hurried over and saw Benjamin in a black shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Even under the dim streetlights, his defined muscles were visible.

With broad shoulders, a slim waist, and long, straight legs wrapped in his pants, he looked both proportionate and striking.

A slightly bulky, tall man was being restrained by the two bodyguards, Billy and Mike Smith.

Benjamin removed the man's hood, revealing his face. His expression darkened immediately, but before he could speak, he heard footsteps approaching.

Turning around, he saw Rachel hurrying over.

"How's everyone? Are you hurt?" she asked.

Billy and Mike had minor signs of a struggle on them. They shook their heads. "No. We arrived just in time to see Mr. Wright fighting with this jerk, so we stepped in to help."

"This jerk is pretty strong," Mike said, flexing his sore knuckles.

Rachel glanced at Benjamin, who seemed to have been through a tough fight. His shirt was noticeably wrinkled and disheveled.

On the ground lay a black suit, looking as if it had been trampled countless times.

"And you?" she asked Benjamin.

Benjamin's gaze was cold and inscrutable as he looked at her. "These two are your people?"

Rachel nodded confidently but didn't elaborate. "Yes. Do you know him?"

"I do."

Benjamin cast a dark glance at the man on the ground and asked coldly, "How long have you been out? Didn't get enough time in prison?"

Tom sneered bitterly, glaring at Benjamin. "Who do you think I owe my current situation to? It's all because of you! I trusted you so much back then. I'll risk my life to kill you!"

As he spoke, he struggled to lunge at Benjamin, baring his teeth.

Billy and Mike had to exert force to pin him down. "Stay still, or I'll break you first!"

Benjamin looked at him indifferently.

"The police station is nearby. I'll call the cops to avoid any more trouble," Rachel said, taking out her phone to call the police.

Benjamin bent down to pick up the watch that had fallen during the fight. The dial was cracked, and the hands were frozen.

He didn't care much and moved to pick up the jacket on the ground but hesitated.

He decided not to keep the jacket and picked it up to throw it away.

The car tire had a nail in it, and in this short time, all the air had leaked out.

He frowned deeply and glanced at Rachel, who had just finished calling the police, with a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

The bodyguards showed up just in time; even though Benjamin could've taken Tom down, he might have been seriously hurt.

Tom was out for blood, after all.

But how did Rachel know someone would be lying in wait to ambush him for revenge, especially since she didn't know Tom?

He remembered the last dinner when she called to warn him that Johnny had spiked his drink.

She hadn't even stepped into the private room back then.

Benjamin didn't dwell on it for long. The police station was just a few minutes away, and soon six or seven officers arrived, cuffing Tom and asking for his name.

Tom, who had been cursing Benjamin non-stop, now clammed up, refusing to answer any questions.

Benjamin filled in the basics about Tom.

34 years old, from Sunset Ridge Town, locked up five years ago for running a brothel. Even though he was a key player in the operation, he didn't handle transactions, management, or introductions.

He was just the driver and muscle for clients and prostitutes.

Thanks to good behavior, he got out last Thursday.

Benjamin had been put in charge of the case and gained Tom's trust through a setup. After gathering enough evidence over half a month, they busted the prostitution ring.

The police, getting the picture, looked serious and suggested everyone head to the station to give statements.

Especially since Benjamin was the victim here.

Benjamin glanced at Rachel, pointed at Billy and Mike, and said calmly, "Let them go as witnesses. You should head back."

He paused for a couple of seconds, looking into her eyes. "Thanks."

Rachel shook her head lightly, seeing he was out of danger. She didn't plan to stick around. Turning to Billy and Mike, she said, "Thanks for your hard work."

"No problem. We're paid to protect you. It's our job."

They kept it professional, never overstepping their boundaries.

After exchanging a few polite words, they asked Benjamin, "Mr. Wright, are you coming with us?"

Benjamin was well-known in the area; it was hard not to recognize him.

"I'll go with you," Benjamin said, then asked Rachel, "Did you drive here or take a cab?"

"I took a cab."

Benjamin nodded, deciding to flag down a taxi for Rachel.

The police had already taken Tom away, and Billy and Mike were about to follow.

Benjamin didn't move but looked sideways at Rachel. Her beautiful, bright face stood out even under the dim streetlights.

Just as he was about to ask her how she knew there would be danger here, Rachel's eyes widened in shock, reflecting a tall, thin man in black.

She shouted, "Watch out!"

In a flash, the man opened a bottle of clear liquid and threw it directly at Benjamin.
