Chapter 88 Alpha meeting

Chapter 88 Alpha meeting
River
Two days have passed and the uncertainty of our situation looms over me like storm clouds. I can still feel the aftershocks of the electric staff thing coursing through my veins, an unsettling feeling that I’m no longer just a normal Alpha.

Today, we’re meeting with the Alpha leaders of our allied packs, a critical gathering that could either strengthen our position or expose our vulnerabilities. The air is thick with tension as I stand before the mirror, adjusting the collar of my shirt. I catch a glimpse of myself—dark hair tousled, eyes sharper than normal. I feel different, and not just from the surge of energy that seems to crackle beneath my skin.

“River,” Aloria calls from the doorway, her voice cutting through my thoughts. I turn to find her standing there, a vision in a deep emerald dress that hugs her curves and glimmers in the morning light. My heart races, and I feel that familiar jolt of electricity at the sight of her. “Are you ready?”

“Ready as I’ll ever be,” I reply, forcing a grin that I hope masks the anxiety brewing inside me. “Am I a worthy Luna?”

I smile at her. “More than that… you are perfect.”

She steps closer, and I can’t resist the urge to reach for her, my fingers brushing against her arm. The moment we connect, a spark zings through me, electric and intoxicating. I pull back, startled by the intensity. “Damn it,” I mutter under my breath, shaking my head.

“Still feeling the effects, huh?” Aloria smirks, a teasing glint in her eyes.

I nod, my stomach tightening as I recall my encounters with metal… every brush against it sends shocks through my body as if I’m a live wire. “It’s… interesting,” I say, trying to downplay the reality of it all. “But we should focus on today.”

“Right,” she says, her tone shifting to one of seriousness. “My father will be there, and those Alphas are not going to let anything slide. You need to be on your game.”

I take a deep breath, steeling myself. “I know. I’ll handle it.”

Together, we head down the corridor, the anticipation building with each step. Aloria walks beside me, and I can feel the strength radiating from her. She’s not just my Luna; she’s my heart, and I need to protect her at all costs.

As we enter the grand hall, the scent of pine and earth fills the air, mingling with the more subtle aromas of fresh bread and roasted meat. The long table at the center is already lined with Alphas from across the realm… each one a powerhouse in their own right. Their eyes flicker toward us as we approach, a mix of curiosity and respect washing over their faces.

“Alpha River,” one of the older Alphas greets me with a nod, his silver-flecked hair a testament to his wisdom. “And this must be your Luna… Princess Aloria. It’s an honor.”

I watch as Aloria smiles gracefully, her confidence shining through even in the face of so many powerful beings. “Thank you, Alpha Eldred. The honor is mine.”

I step forward, feeling the weight of their gazes. “Aloria’s father, King Athar, has asked for your presence today. We need to unite our forces against the impending threat. The usurper king’s recent actions have put us all at risk.”

Murmurs ripple through the room as I glance at Aloria’s father, who stands proudly at the head of the table, his presence commanding and regal. He gives me a nod of encouragement, and I feel a surge of determination.

“Let’s get started,” he says, his voice deep and resonant. “We’re all aware of the stakes. My brother is not just a threat to River’s pack; he’s a threat to the entire realm.”

As the discussion begins, I find myself caught between the weight of responsibility and the flickering energy coursing through me. Every time I touch a metal surface or my pulse rises, jolts of electricity dance through me, making it hard to focus. I clench my fists, reminding myself to breathe.

Aloria sits beside me, her presence grounding me even as the tension escalates. I can feel her eyes on me, and it gives me the strength to push through the discomfort. The Alphas debate strategies, their voices rising and falling like a tumultuous tide, but I’m only half-listening.

“River!” The king’s voice snaps me back to the present, and I realize everyone is looking at me expectantly. “What do you think? Your unique connection with Aloria may have implications we haven’t fully explored.”

I swallow hard, my heart racing. “I believe that our bond is stronger than we understand right now. The new powers Aloria has and the energy flowing through me… it might be a key to harnessing a greater force against our enemy. If we can figure out how to control it.”

Eldred leans in, intrigued. “What you’re suggesting is risky, River. You’re not just dealing with your own power; you’re potentially involving Aloria’s lineage and the legacy of Lycan kings.”

“I know,” I reply, my voice steady. “But if there’s a chance it could turn the tide, we have to take it. Aloria and I are willing to explore this together.”

Whispers ripple through the group, and I catch Aloria’s eye. She nods, her determination shining through. I can feel the charge between us, a silent agreement that we’ll face whatever comes next together.

“Very well,” my father says, his tone decisive. “Then we will explore these powers. But we must proceed with caution. We cannot afford to lose you, River.”

The weight of those words settles over me, and I nod. “I won’t let you down.”

As the discussions continue, I find myself glancing at Aloria, her fiery spirit igniting something deep inside me. The way she stands tall among the Alphas fills me with a sense of pride and purpose.

With every passing moment, I can feel the storm brewing outside, but in this room, surrounded by allies and united under a common cause, I realize something important: together, we will face the chaos head-on. And whatever shocks may come our way will be met with resilience, strength, and an unbreakable bond.

As the meeting starts to wind down, I feel the tension in my body ease slightly, bolstered by the knowledge that we are not alone in this fight. But the questions linger… what does this new power mean for us, and how will we control it when the time comes?

When the gathering disperses, I take Aloria’s hand, intertwining our fingers as we step outside. The world is still out there, waiting for us, but in this moment, I feel invincible.
