CHAPTER 75

"You don't,you only think you do.You love her then why do you want to hurt her cause we both know you'll feel her pain and suffering twice as bad.You can't stand to see her hurt then why do this,your wedding day is approaching will you really wait till then to break her heart."

"I need a friend Marissa not someone who will tell me about my actions."

"What kind of friend would I be if I let you make the biggest mistake of your life.Look at you,you've been miserable for these past two weeks,I can see the empty dark look in your eyes Alejandro."

"Because she's not with me."He admitted."I'm living without her."

"Yet you still adamant on breaking both your hearts,for what?"

"How can I trust and believe she'll stay with me,I gave up everything for her once almost lost my family and she left me,without thinking twice.What guarantee do I have she won't do it again because she can if she wants to she doesn't need me like I need her she showed me that once.I have to do this before the wedding next week,or if I don't she can in the long run so I'll save both of us the trouble."He looked down at the new pendant he'd made for her he's tried many times to give it to her but failed,he had taken her old pendant and design something better for her why he never gave it to her he doesn't know.

"Your mouth and your eyes tell me two different things."

"It will be hard living without her but I did it once and I can again."

"What about her have you thought what this will do to her,she's pregnant with your babies.I thought you wanted to be there for everything."

"And I will be Abigail and I can co-parent she won't keep my kids away from me she's not that selfish."

"I can see you've already made up your mind.Don't be surprised if she ends up hating you for this."He hopes not he can handle anything but not if she'll resent him."It's late I need to go."He walked Marissa to the door."Don't do something you'll regret later."

"Take care of yourself."He nodded,after she left he went to pour himself another shot,he'd made the mistake of blurting out his true feelings the last night they'd made love,a mistake he won't ever repeat he thought going to bed.

Abby looked down at her ring for the umpteenth time,a symbol of their commitment to each other.Alejandro hasn't called or text to put her mind at ease about the woman who'd answer his phone it can only mean one thing it had been his mistress as much as the thought hurts she has to face the facts no matter how painful her mother was arriving in two days and she has no idea how she'll pretend everything is okay,it has been hard to keep a happy face infront of everyone when she was dying inside.Her husband loves her but he doesn't want her,she glanced back at herself in the mirror the make-up wasn't even hiding the dark circles under her eyes she looked a mess and the last thing she wanted was to go downstairs and eat dinner but she doesn't have a choice no one misses dinner.By the time she went downstairs everyone was already seated even Arturo has been here for a week to be with Andrea and the baby whereas her husband was having a fun time with his mistress at home,has he taken his new companion to their home,did he make love to her in their bed.Abby drank her water to swallow the lump that has formed in her throat.

"Abby dear?"Mariana said."Are you okay.You've gone pale."

Forcing a smile she said."I'm fine."

"Is it the food?Should I ask Francesca to bring you something else."

"No.I'm a bit tired after the day's activities,will it be okay if I go and lie down."

"Of course.Take as much rest as you can."

"Thank you."The minute she shut the bedroom door,the tears came hard and fast she went to lie down and cry her heart out,she couldn't hold back anymore she was tired of keeping everything inside she has to cry it all out she has no idea how much time has passed but the tears wouldn't come anymore. A knock came from the door then she heard Andrea's voice."Come in."

"I brought you something to eat."

"Thank you.Please set it down on the nightstand I'll eat later."

"Abby?Is everything alright."

"Yes,as I said I'm a bit tired that's all."

"Okay.Goodnight."When Andrea was gone she went into the bathroom and splash her face with cold water.She needs to get a hold of a self and talk to Alejandro she has to know where they stand if they still have a marriage..?She prays they do,she prays he wasn't cheating on her that there wasn't someone else.She walked out to the balcony such a beautiful night,Alejandro had made love to her right here the morning before Sofia's wedding he was a gentle lover and to think she'll never feel his arms around her.

"Abigail?"Her heart stopped,only one man can call her name so softly,don't look,don't turn but she did.Gosh she's missed him Abby thought when their eyes met his scent washed over her like a protective shield,she won't fall weak and rush to him.Seems she wasn't the only who hasn't been sleeping."You've been crying?"He hates it when she sheds even a single tear.

"Where have you been."She asked.

"We need to talk.Please come inside."

She's been dreading this day,this moment and now that it's here she doesn't think she'll have the strength to deal with whatever he has to say."What is it?"

"Sit down."

"I'll stand."She said,he came over and gave her an envelope."What's this."Her heart knew what it was.

"I want a divorce."The second the words came out Abby wished she hadn't ask him,shock paralyze every limb in her body.Alejandro stood and watch as all the colour drain from her face he thought she was about to faint but she only sat down.Abby sank down on the chair her legs couldn't support her body anymore that's how weak she was,she should've known this would happen silently the tears streaked down her cheeks and dripped on the envelope.It's over everything gone flushed down the toilet,words couldn't even describe her pain and what she was going through,taking out the papers she saw he has already signed,her eyes met his.He couldn't stand to see her like this,he ended up averting his gaze.He has to see this through if he wants to come out unscathed in the end and spare them both the heartache.

"What did you think that you'll just come in here and give me these papers and I'll happily sign them without demanding to know why you want a divorce."

"I don't owe you any explanation."He muttered coldly.

"You owe me more than that after you blackmailed me into marrying you."

Something he'll regret for the rest of his life."Don't make this difficult for any of us."

It will be difficult to go on without him doesn't he understand that."I won't sign.I refuse to until you give me a good reason why."

Abigail was one stubborn woman he'd thought her hearing Marissa's voice would've made everything easier,she would think he was having an affair and let him go but clearly he'd thought wrong."I don't love you is that reason enough."

"I lied."He said hardening his voice."I can see you want this to happen the hard way I was hoping to spare you the pain.I'm seeing someone else whatever we had is over I don't want you anymore."

She heard nothing else except for I don't want you anymore...she forced herself to look at him,the man who is her life the reason she exist on this earth.He doesn't want her anymore she searched his gaze but they were empty,hard and cold.It really was over and she has to accept it he has told her the truth and there's nothing she can do fighting for a man who wasn't hers anymore is worthless,she has to let him go if he found happiness elsewhere who was she to deprive him with shaky hands she signed the papers before going over to

hand it to him,she stood staring at him looking for one glimpse that he didn't want this she found none,he might as well be a stranger a man she never knew a man she never loved.She lifted her hand and touched his cheek before trailing her hand down his jaw,a lump rose in her throat,tears were pouring down her cheeks blurring his gorgeous face this is the end,she stood on tiptoe and brushed her lips with his.

"Go."She croaked turning away from him,he reached out to touch her but she stepped back."Don't..don't make me beg you to stay when you'll end up leaving."

"I'm sorry."She heard him say.

Somehow that word was just too much for her to bear."Sorry."She said and spun around to face him."You sorry.I don't want your god damn sorry nor do I need it.Get out!"She yelled."Leave I never wanna see your face again."

"Abigail..."

"Get out!"She sobbed."Go to your mistress."She tried to push him out but he stood still,he might as well be rock."You got what you wanted you're a free man what more do want from me,to see me break down,enjoy my pain and suffering."Angrily she swiped her tears away."Well sorry to disappointment you I won't give you that satisfaction."

If only she knew how badly he wanted to pull her into his arms it took all his self control not to go to her and kiss away every tear."I want to make sure you okay before I leave."
