CHAPTER 62

Abby hasn't gotten a chance to speak with him alone but hopes she will soon without her sexy husband.She was busy getting ready for work when the doorbell rang Alejandro had left early for work this morning and Manual Ally's driver has already taken her to school.She was surprised to see Mr Alvarez on her doorstep along with Sam his private nurse.

"Mr Alvarez.Is everything okay?"

"May I come in Abigail,I hope I haven't caught you at a bad time."

Abby stepped aside for them to come in."No,no of course not.Come in.Can I get you anything?"Abby asked once they were in the living room.

"A cup of tea would be nice if it's not too much trouble."He replied.

"I'll be right back."Abby said smiling,quickly making her way over to the kitchen to prepare the tea.She was curious as to know what Alejandro's father was doing here he's never come to their house even when she'd had a small family get together so show everyone their new home she hope nothing was wrong.Sitting down she poured him a cup and gave it to him he sipped slowly the physiotherapy really was helping Abby thought as he drank his tea.

"Thank you,it's delicious."He said.

"It's nothing,can I get you anything else."

"No.You may sit down."

"Alejandro isn't at home if you looking for him he already left for work."Abby told him.

"I'm didn't come here to see him,I came to see you.You have a beautiful home."

Her?But why.Why would he want to see her Abby wondered."Thank you Mr Alvarez,but why would you want to see me."

"I think it's time I talked alone with the woman who my son almost gave up everything for.The woman he defied me for."

Abby nervously fidget with her fingers she should've known this day would come."Mr Alvarez-.."She began.

"Please allow me to talk Abigail,you seem like a nice woman my wife cannot stop talking about you she only says good things about you and I'd like to see for myself.You love my son."

"Yes I do."She said.

"I can see,I also know he loves you too it's evident from the way he looks at you and how over protective he is over you."Abby wouldn't agree with that but she doesn't want to interrupt again."Alejandro always listened to me not a day went by without him not paying heed to my words,he's a son any father would be proud of.I wanted Alejandro to marry a business associate's daughter I thought it would be a good business arrangement for the company and that of my son,I thought I knew him,knew what he wanted out of life but I was wrong. When I brought the proposal to him Alejandro refused,that was the first time he ever said no to me,even threatening him didn't work and I ask myself why he was prepared to lose everything he worked so hard for.He looked me in the eye and said he loves someone and he wasn't gonna marry anyone but her and if I want to kick him out of the family business I should do it because he does not care."Abby was at a loss of words,he'd been ready to give up everything to be with her and she just wrongfully judged him a decision she'll regret forever.

"I was shocked to hear him say those words."He went on."I told him if he goes against my wishes we'll never accept you into our family and I'll never give you the respect you deserve as an Alvarez daughter-in-law."Abby was the one who was shocked because she hadn't know that Mariana had never told her this."He didn't answer me,he turned and walked away when he was at the door I told him if he walks out that door he's as good as dead to me and that he's never to set foot in our home again.Do you know what he said to me before he left.Then neither do I have a father or a family,it was the most painful thing to see him walk out that door a son I thought highly off,respected immensely I knew in that moment I lost him for good and I just couldn't accept that fact my heart couldn't and that's when I had my heart attack."

"Mr Alvarez I'm so sorry I know everything is my fault and I accept that if it wasn't for me Alejandro would never have argued with you and everything wouldn't have turned out the way it did.Not a day goes by that I don't regret what transpired between you two.I hope you can find it in your heart one day to forgive me for everything."

"Those were the same words you said when you sat next to me on the bed when we met for the first time.I couldn't move but there's nothing wrong with my hearing."

"And I meant every word,Alejandro loves you alot and your condition has been very hard on him over the years,he might not say the words out loud but I can feel his pain."

"You very different Abigail,not someone I thought my son would fall in love with and start a family with.I wanted him to marry someone with our roots and tradition yet he chose you.How much do you really love my son?"

Abby was taken a back by the remark and she didn't like the way he posed the question."I'm not sure I follow Mr Alvarez."

"Are you willing to do anything for Alejandro,willing to do anything to get my forgiveness."

"Of course."She said without blinking."Alejandro really loves his family and I'd do anything for them too."He set a paper down on the coffee table."What is that?"She asked he urged for her to take it and she did,it was a check she notice up close a check of ten million dollars.Confused she stared at him.

"That's alot of money Abigail you never have to work in your life again.You'll live a financial free life."

"I don't understand."She said but her mind already knows where this was going.

"That money is yours if you divorce my son immediately."Abby was frozen in shock,did she hear him right.All the colour drain from her face thank goodness she was sitting down or else she would've collapsed to the ground.

"Then I'm gonna have to say no."She set the check down in front of him."I cannot accept,all the money in the world won't make me leave my husband I'd rather live in poverty than to lose the only person who gives my life meaning."

"Think about it Abigail."

"With all due respect Mr Alvarez there's nothing to think about."She stood up. "Now I'd appreciate it if you leave I need to get to work."

He gazed at her for a long time."Abigail-..."

"No Mr Alvarez,I think you've said enough.I welcome you into our home and this is how you thank me by wanting to buy me off to divorce your son.What kind of father are?"Abby was past the point of being respectful how dare he come into their home and treat her this way.She won't stand for it."Doesn't your son's happiness mean anything to you I'm his wife,the mother of his daughter or did you forget that part do you actually believe Alejandro will give me a divorce just because I want one.I love your son more than my own life I'll never leave him doesn't matter how much millions you can offer me."

"I got what I came here do to."He said surprising Abby.

"Huh?"She asked puzzled.

"He chose well I can see why he fell in love with you."Abby was more confused than ever."Thank you for allowing Alejandra to know her father's tradition and where she's coming from.Bright young girl has alot of potential."

Abby was still trying to figure out when the conversation had turned she watched as he waved for Sam to come back."It was a pleasure to meet you Abigail and thank you again for the tea.I hope we'll see you at dinner tonight."

"Mr Alvarez-..."

"You a good woman I had to make sure you're the right woman for my son.You can tell Alejandro about my visit it's your choice,tell him everything we discussed too it's up to you.See you tonight and don't be late."Ten minutes after he'd left Abby was still trying to wrap her head around their conversation. What did he meant when he said he got what he came to do,she was so confused and her face said as much when she got to the cafe.

"You look troubled?"Amanda said.

"It's nothing,anything interesting happened while I wasn't here."

"Nope.The day hardly started."
