Chapter 82 Chapter 82
Chapter 82 Chapter 82
Elisa’s POV
My father was alive, actually alive. My hope of meeting him had been shattered by what Hank just said. I was a threat to him and his seat. A man that should love me wanted me dead. I tried to wrap my head around it. I just couldn't.
Was his throne more important than me?
“You are older than you look,” Mark whispered in my ear. He had seen the look on my face and he was trying to distract me.
“Yeah,” I replied, not really paying attention.
“Now that’s a mystery your mother would have been able to tell us if she were alive,” Hank said, hearing what Mark said.
“So… my father is the Lycan King threatening us?”
“I am sorry, but yes,” Hank said.
Drake walked to where I stood and pulled me closer to him.
“By the blood moon, the era of the Lycans will return. But… they must have a new ruler, . The Lycan King is meant to rule Lycans. We thought Lycans ruled us, but that was never the case,” Hank said.
“We know silver works on them just as it does on us, and wolfsbane too. However, they burn it out faster than a werewolf. We will need other alternatives,” Alpha Blake said.
“What about a mixture of both?” Sabrina said, and Drake’s head snapped up to stare at her.
“That’s deadly,” an Alpha said.
“That could work.”
They went on for a few more minutes. Then the rogues were excused, though their faces remained covered.
“Hey Sabrina,” I called to her once we stepped out.
“Hey.”
“How are they doing?”
“They are okay. Pelisy said I should tell you Faith is getting better and Erasmus is becoming friends with everyone.”
I nodded, relieved.
“How are you holding up? Especially with what you just heard?”
I shrugged, then stared at her for a while. “I will be fine,” I said with a smile.
"Hey Sabrina" Drake said, shook her hands and the rest of her crew
"Hipe you didn’t have to drag Quinn off his mate this time around" he said and they all chuckled.
"Come in man. At least you know whatsup now" Quinn said and winked at him. They all laughed again. Then left. I could see he had a great relationship with them. Drake came towards me and hugged me again.
“I am fine, Drake honestly.”
“I know you are not. I can feel your hurt leaking through the mate bond.”
I guess I could not really hide from him.
“Everyone dreams of meeting their dad, you know, especially if you have never met him before. I know my mum was hurt by him. But still, I would have loved to know him. When she told me he died, I was heartbroken. Now I hear he is alive but wants to end my life. That hurts. More than anything,” I replied.
His hand tightened around me like he could physically shield me from the pain.
“It’s his loss. He doesn't know how valuable you are. And honestly, stop wasting your breath on him. He does not deserve it,” he growled, and I could feel his anger through the bond. Not at me, but at my father.
I nodded, my head resting against his chest, the soft fabric of his clothes rubbing against my cheek.
“I want to take you out tonight, to a quiet place.”
“I am not sure we have such luxury, Drake.”
“We will sneak out. Nobody has to know. We need alone time, and you have not told me about the other thing bothering you.”
I pulled my face from his chest and looked up at him.
“Alright.”
“Wear something comfortable.”
“Where are we going?”
“It is a surprise.”
“I love surprises.”
“You know, I have always had a thing for older women.”
“Oh please,” I said, rolling my eyes at him, and he laughed.
It delighted me to see that laugh.
Later in the day, the vampires and witches started arriving. The hair on my skin stood on end whenever I saw a witch. I had not yet gotten over the fact that I was almost killed by one and Lucas was dead because of one.
“Angy, hey. You okay?”
She took a deep breath. “Someone slipped to Nathan that we dated. He wanted to know the truth. I had no choice but to tell him.”
“Shit. How did he react?”
“He was pissed. He said I had no right to make him forget. Then he stormed off.”
“How are you going to handle this?”
“I will speak to him and apologize once he cools down.”
“You guys will sort all this out. You will be fine.”
We walked in and went straight to the room.
“Umm Angy,” I said.
“Yeah…”
“I didn’t want to bring this up, but I need your help with something to wear. Drake asked me on a date.”
“Are you kidding me? Bring it up anytime. My love life is in shambles. I need to live through you at this moment. I want all the juicy details when you get back.”
I smiled hard. I had worried for nothing.
We both went through her clothes together and finally settled on a forest green top and jeans paired with silver sandals. She helped with my hair and makeup. Drake was right. Doing this got my mind off everything. We both giggled like we were in high school again, and it felt absolutely refreshing.
“Hey beautiful,” Drake said softly as I walked towards him. He held my hands gently.
“Hey handsome,” I said, and he grinned.
“You ready?”
“As ready as I can be.”
We did not take the car. Instead, we walked from the house deep into the trees behind it, the moon our only source of light.
“Are you going to tell me where we are going?”
“Never,” he said with a smile.
Then… we got to a mountain. It had a cave beneath it.
“We are here.”
“How did you find this place?”
“It was Lucien’s and my special place when we were young. We found it on one of our adventures.”
Hearing Lucien’s name made me pause. I felt a painful twinge in my heart, though it was duller now. Drake noticed, then held my face.
“I know I should be over him now…”
“Don’t you dare. You have every right to grieve his death. You once loved him. There is nothing wrong with that.”
“Yeah,” I said, my smile a bit sad.
We entered the cave and it was not filled with bats and bat shit.
No. Its walls were covered with beautiful stones that reflected the moonlight. I had never seen anything like it before. Water poured from an opening in the mountain and rushed into a small deep pool. Drake stood at the center of the cave. He had set up a table and chairs with candles at the center and a basket of food beside them. He looked at me expectantly.
“Wow… this is beautiful,” I said.
“You love it?”
“I do, Drake. It is beautiful.”
He pulled a chair out for me like a gentleman. I sat down, then he served the food and sat opposite me. He held my hands across the table.
“I love you,” he said.
My eyes widened, my mouth going slack.
“I needed you to know before the Lycans attack. There is no need hiding my feelings anymore. I fought it for a long time, lied to myself for a long time. I know this is real, Elisa. Even without the mate bond, I would have wanted to spend my life with you,” he said, and my face brightened.
“I love you too, Drake Woods. I have for a long time.”
We looked into each other’s eyes and knew that this was it for us. He gently leaned over the table and kissed me deeply.
We talked about everything, caught up on things, and laughed while doing it. My heart filled with so much joy. When we were done, I wrapped my hands around his as we exited the cave. The date had changed something for us. It had made us much closer.
“So can we talk about what had you so worried?” he asked just as we were about to get back to the pack house.
I needed to tell him. It might just be my fear manifesting as the dream and nothing more.
“I had…”
But… I was interrupted by loud growls and shouts coming from the house.
We stared at each other and ran towards the chaos.
