Chapter 99 Admit that you lost

Chapter 99 Admit that you lost
Darya took the pure white jade out of her pocket. She grabbed it in between her hands as she raised it. She then closed her eyes after looking at the sky. “Please lend me your power, Fergus.”

Her chest was beating wildly. This is the only way she could reduce more deaths from her Empire. This is the only way she could protect her Empire.

“Please hear my prayer.”

Darya does not know that the sky suddenly got darker as the clouds went down to the land, tainting everyone’s eyes with white. The battlefield was covered with white, a thick fog making everyone unable to see anything.

Invisible spirits rose from the corpses of the dead and unanimously attacked the Corstan people. The panic from every side rose.

“What is happening? Who is attacking me?!”

“I can’t see where the enemies are!”

“Protect the Crown Prince!”

“Protect the Emperor!”

You can hear sounds of strangle, moan of pain, wail of death, and yell of fear.

“S-Save me! I don’t want to die yet!”

“Ackkh! I can’t see who’s strangling me!”

“Who are you? What are these? They are not humans!”

Hearing these expressions from most of his side, Reginald began to feel heaviness in his heart as he slightly trembled.

“What is this fog?”

“Why is there a sudden fog?!”

He was rattled as he turned around to see the two commanders guarding him only to see a disgusting scene of two human beings with heads unattached to their necks. He jumped off his horse to let out the disgust in his gut. He vomited all the food he had eaten earlier.

So then, he had disturbing thoughts that made his mentality extremely weak. What is happening? It is impossible that he could have overlooked such natural phenomena. It is also impossible if this is a war defence! There is no such weapon that exists. Are these from the gods? Do they even exist?!

His surroundings began to become quiet, making him feel that no one was on his side. He took his sword and drew it in every direction.

“Is this you, my Sage?”

No one answered him.

He laughed. “I am right. This is you, my Sage, my wife.”

“Are you watching me? Are you watching me being pathetic?!”

He extremely hates it when he is looked down on. He despises the people who think of him as a lowly creation. It has always been like that. Since he was a child, he needs to be intelligent. He needs to be smart. He needs to be good at everything. Because he is a child that is born to be a King.

“Mother!”

Suddenly, he is seeing his younger self.

“Mother, don’t leave me alone. I am scared.” It was when he was locked into an extremely dark room and was punished because he spilled the tea he served to the King.

He is scared of being alone, of being left in a place where no one is around. He hates it when everything is silent.

“No!” Reginald shook his head as he looked around to look for a company. Until then, he stepped on a corpse, directly making him fall down to the ground.

“Corstan knights!” He started calling for a company but no one is responding to him. Until then, he heard footsteps, making him feel safe that there are still Corstan knights.

Feeling that the knight was near him, he spoke. “Take me away from here. Bring me back to my Kingdom—

But then he felt that something sharp was pointing on his neck. The thick fog is slowly becoming thin as everything becomes visible to his eyes. A woman in her long white hair is standing in front of him, pointing her sword on his neck. He was kneeling on the dirt of the spilled blood. The Emperor is looking down on him, as if he is some pest. Her hair might have miraculously changed color, but whatever she becomes, he can recognize her with her eyes.

He was so shocked that he could not move at all. As his eyes look around to check on his company, not a single Corstan knight is standing while half of the Largoth knights are watching him being defeated by the Emperor.

“M-My wife,” he looked up to the most beautiful woman in his eyes, begging because he didn't want to die. He still has ambition. He will replace that piece of crap father of his’.

“You lose, Reginald.”

He was petrified after those words penetrated his ears. It is the very first time he heard such a pathetic clause in his life.

“Admit that you lost.”

He started laughing about the invisible slap on his face. He had finally regained the senses of the conclusion of this war. He lost. Yes, he was defeated even after all the things he did.

Crown Prince Reginald was in a daze from that moment. He lifelessly followed the Emperor. Emperor Darya held him captive as all remaining Largoth knights marched all the way to the Corstan Kingdom’s capital city. All the anti-imperial faction nobles who eloped in the country were all executed on the spot.

While the King’s palace was in panic about Corstan Kingdom’s defeat, they looked for Crown Prince Reginald. So then, they found Crown Prince Reginald standing on the top of the tower in front of the King’s palace. His neck was tied with a solid knot and was standing on the edge. Emperor Darya was standing tall beside him and was looking down on the King below the tower. Her black hair waved with the wind. Cold. Ruthless.

Upon meeting the eyes of the Crown Prince, the King looked disappointed rather than fearful. Reginald had his one last laugh after seeing this.

‘You are not even proud of me after all I have done.’ So then, he jumped off the tower, hanging himself to death.

Emperor Darya did not react as she just stepped forward to face the people, the royalty, and the officials.

“I, Emperor Darya Oswald, the Emperor of the Largoth Empire, have conquered the Corstan Kingdom. This kingdom shall become part of the Largoth Empire as a country with my subject as the one in command. The nobility of the King shall be exterminated. Men in the royal family shall be punished with death. And women shall have their titles demolished. Knights, take the royalties!”

She is Emperor Lysandra Darya Y Taleigha Oswald. She is the first female Emperor. She is the first woman to conquer a whole kingdom. She is now ruling the biggest Empire in the whole world. In the eyes of the people, she has everything but she knows that she lost her remaining happiness.
