Chapter 98: To conquer
In the Corstan Kingdom, Crown Prince Reginald was not crowned as a King but his figure is higher than that of the King. After the people found out about his marriage to the Emperor of the Largoth Empire, they were extremely displeased.
When he came back to the Corstan Kingdom and stayed within two years, he married three ladies from different noble families to prove his loyalty to the Kingdom. He also promised to conquer the Largoth Empire soon. If he succeeds in conquering the Largoth Empire, he will be the greatest of all as he will become an Emperor and at the same time a King.
He arranged Corstan people to disturb the barbarian tribe in the faraway town Nirov to cause the Largoth Empire to lose knights. He arranged Corstan people to immigrate to the Capital City of the Largoth Empire with an intention to have spies and backups once he signals them to attack and cause panic. He made good deals with the anti-imperial faction, leading them to trust his intelligence. He used Count Marshall to make use of Captain Lorenzo by drugging him to kill General Theobarlt.
Presuming that Emperor Darya noticed his moves, he had a speculation that the rebellion would not be successful, which is why after freeing Kathika, he immediately retreated to Corstan Kingdom to prepare for war. He is confident that he will win this war as he had caused too much damage in the knighthood now that the Empire’s General died, Duke Esteban was injured, and Captain Lorenzo was temporarily mentally unstable. What is there to be afraid of now that the Largoth Empire is at their greatest disadvantage?
“Your Highness, the Largoth Empire has advanced to the borderline!”
After hearing the announcement of his subject, one of his wives stopped feeding him tea, the other put on his golden robe, and the other one stopped massaging his feet.
“There are estimated to be one thousand imperial knights and five hundred Ciguilian knights.”
“Who are the important figures present?”
“There are four captains which includes Captain Silla, Captain Key, Captain Quira, Captain Urgos, and the retired Captain Billion. And more importantly, Emperor Darya is the commander in chief of the Largoth Empire’s knights.”
Reginald’s lips curved as he took a sip of the tea and put it down. With a blush on his cheeks, he imagined how Emperor Darya looked so good in her uniform while she was sitting on a horse. He does not like people to look down on him but Emperor Darya is the only exception. He imagined her intimidating eyes looking down on him which made him lick his lips. Would he look at him like that when she is under him?
“Remember that you are the sole reason for me becoming crazy, my Sage.”
Emperor Darya’s eyes were fixated on Crown Prince Reginald while his battalion of knights marched towards the borderline. This makes Crown Prince Reginald’s mouth curved wide and is going crazy that Emperor Darya’s attention was on him. He suddenly made a little chuckle that made his commanders confused.
“Just like that, my Sage. It feels so good when you look at me like that.”
The elegant composure of Emperor Darya, a woman, in the Corstan knights is dominant. Most of the Corstan knights never saw the Emperor and this was their first time seeing her.
Looking great and mighty, beautiful and serious, their hearts could not believe that they were confronting such undeniable beauty. His straightened hair that dances with the strong wind is like a sign that they should not look down on a woman’s capability of commanding a war. Her eyes that pierce through them show great control and ruling. How can such beauty be regarded by their Crown Prince as an enemy? It is such a shame that she is the Emperor of the Largoth Empire.
Everyone in the Corstan alerted when Emperor Darya took off her sword from its hilt as she raised her hand to the sky.
“For the Largoth Empire, we will fight with our lives for victory!”
As soon as Emperor Darya the knights heard her loud imperative, all captains took off their swords from its hilt, and did the same.
“For the Largoth Empire, serve our lives for victory!”
Imperial knights from different divisions started their march in advance. Weapons and tools were disclosed as it both attacked and defended. Corstan knights have also run their horses in advance to defend their Kingdom.
Once again, the borderline of the two countries had been filled with bloodshed, death and pain. Every sword that clang would make a deafening sound which makes the knight be aware of their purpose.
To conquer.
For the peace of the Empire.
Each country has a different purpose of fighting to the death. Greed over wellness. Power over people. And this second war between the neighbouring countries is because of one’s inability to take his desire below him. This is not a war but a confrontation to see who lasts longer. And because it is obvious that the Largoth Empire’s knights are outnumbered, they had the most damage. The Captains are exhausted and the knights have suffered major injuries. Emperor Darya needs to stop them before she loses half of them.
Emperor Darya clenched her fist after seeing the smile on Crown Prince Reginald’s face, as if he had claimed his victory. She knows… she knows that he desires the Largoth Empire but why didn’t she take action? She knows about his plot but why… didn’t she move faster? She had clearly underestimated Reginald but she won’t admit defeat as of the moment. She will do anything for the Empire that her beloved fought for.
Darya took the pure white jade out of her pocket. She grabbed it in between her hands as she raised it. She then closed her eyes after looking at the sky. “Please lend me your power, Fergus.”
Her chest was beating wildly. This is the only way she could reduce more deaths from her Empire. This is the only way she could protect her Empire.
“Please hear my prayer.”
