Chapter 65 Chapter 65
Jess’s POV
I glanced to my left to make sure that Kieran and dad where ok. Kieran was just giving dad another quick lesson on manoeuvring the gun. On my right Justin was already in position with his gun pointing towards the south. The way that anything that wanted to get in to our camp would have to go. Unless they wanted to go the long way like John and his group had. If they did that though Dad and Kieran would spot them. I felt safe knowing that no one or thing would be able to enter the camp without one of us seeing it. The more I thought about it though the more that I wished that we had asked mum and Amber to come up here with us. But then again. It would be hard for them to concentrate with us shooting all the time and the only guns with silencers where mine and Kieran’s. Justin’s and dad where still going to be loud. I watched the ship, but the guards out front still looked bored.
“They are coming” Kieran whispered
We all lay waiting for who was going to fire the first shot. The vampires came from the east. Right in front of where I lay. Hayley smiled right at me. It did not faze me. Ever since I had let her drink my blood, we had acquired a bond. She knew where I was straight away in a room, and she could also tell what mood I was in from across the county. I smiled back. Knowing that with her eyesight she would be able to see me. I put my attention back to the ship and noticed that the expression on the alien’s face had changed. It now looked confused. I was guessing that he could sense the vampires and had no idea what they were. I kept all my attention on the guard. William appeared in front of the guard and broke its neck. The alien did not even see him coming. That would be something to keep in my memory to tell John. They only had the eyesight of humans. They could not see vampires when they ran. I kept watching the ship, but nothing came out. It was like the other aliens had not heard their guard get killed. The vampires all waited by the door but still nothing came out. John and his gang of humans had walked all the way around the ship and came to meet with the vampires at the front. I pushed in to his mind to see if he had seen anything. This was a skill that I did not like using but I felt that now was a good time to use it.
“There is no other entry to the ship apart from the one at the front where they are all gathered” I spoke out loud as I felt that this was information that my team required
“How did you know that sis?”
“I am Telepathic, so I looked into John’s thoughts. I do not like using my gift, but I felt that now I had a valid reason to use it”
“Fair enough. As long as you do not start looking in my mind”
“No thanks. I have no wish to know what is happening in that head of yours. I think that what I find would, scar me for life” I looked back at the group gathered in front of the ship. John was talking to William. The humans were making sure that they did not get too close to the vampires. I could see the fear on a lot of their faces. I could not understand how they could be afraid of something that was helping them. But I could not judge. I had grown up with a vampire as one of my best friends.
“They won’t go inside, will they?” Justin spoke without looking at me.
“I hope not. The humans won’t. John needs us to be able to protect them. If they go inside, then there are on their own. I have a feeling that William will want the vampires to go in. I am guessing that’s what they are talking about. John will not want anyone going inside” The whole time that I had been talking my eyes had been on the scene below. John and William were still talking when the door to the ship opened. “Ok I want all of us focusing on the ship” William moved quicker than my eyes could pick up, and he yanked the door fully open. It was then that we all discovered that there were other doors to the ship. They all started opening around the ship. At a quick count I counted ten “Ok guys change of plan. Justin, go back to spotting the south. Dad, go back to watching the north Kieran you’re with me looking after this ship” None of them responded but I heard Dad and Justin shifting positions. I was the first one to fire a shot. A group of three aliens were coming out of one of the back doors and making their way around the side of the ship towards to humans. I shot the first two, but Kieran beat me to the third. I kept looking to the south to make sure that Justin didn’t miss anything or need my help. I was hoping that Kieran was doing the same for dad. The war had now started aliens were now coming out of all the doors. The humans who had guns where shooting as many of the aliens as they could. Kieran and I were also doing our part and killing alien after alien. The humans that didn’t have guns were fighting with big branches that they had found or using their fists. The vampires were the ones having the most fun. I felt like calling out to them not to play with their food. They were slowly draining dry the aliens that they caught.
“My god look at the vampires go” Justin’s voices sounded both amused and disgusted.
“Yeah, they do look like they’re having fun” I looked over and saw Hayley her expression was clear she was disgusted at what her family where doing. All of a sudden, the aliens started to retreat to the ship. Kieran and I started shooting but we had noticed the retreat too late and most of the aliens made it back to the ship. Everyone stopped and looked as the ship started.
“Shit. What the hell are they doing?” Justin abandoned his position and stood at the edge of the cliff.
