Kieran’s POV
Amber took Hayley’s hand and then Justin shocked me by going and taking Hayley’s hand. Since he had only just found out that she is a vampire, I thought that he would keep a distance. I guess I was wrong as they both looked very cozy together. When we got close to the ledge that was above where the aliens are camped John told everyone to stay quiet. He wanted us all to observe the camp so that we could all put our heads together when we got back to camp and mark things on the map. John sent Jess of first to go spot a place she could set up with her sniper. I was glad that he was setting her up away from the action. I knew that she was an amazing shot as he had filled me in while I was away, but I was worried if she got too close that the aliens would get in her head and distract her. A distracted soldier was a at risk soldier. Jess returned looking slightly white. She had found a good spot, and she just needed a good scope. John then told her that he had grabbed her rifle and scope for her. I was impressed as I had not seen him grab it before we left. I was fully armed as I always was, but I only brought some spare hand guns. I guess that is why I am not the one in charge. John sent me to go and do a scope out to see if I could see an area that we could get in. I nodded as I walked off pulling my binoculars out of my pocket. What I saw when I looked over the edge made me sick. They had women naked in cages with the men not far away fully clothed. I carried on walking around the edge looking for anyway that we would be able to get in undetected. I found a couple of spots where we would be able to use trees as shelter and sneak in. Once I was happy with what I had found I made my way back to John and the others.
“Wow that’s sick” I growled as soon as I got back
“I know” Jess sighed as she opened her arms for me, and I walked right into them. I missed her so much, having someone to comfort you after a hard day is just the best feeling.
John was the next one to go and he took Justin with him since he was new to this whole thing. I was curious to how he would cope seeing the women naked in cages. Hayley came to sit with us and told us that her family have arrived.
Once Justin and John came back Justin walked straight back over to Hayley and collapsed resting his head on her shoulder. “Wow” was all that he managed to get out, so I guess it did shock him.
Amber was the next to go and she was gone only a few minutes before just shaking her head “I will just go with the plan you come up with”
Hayley was the last go after she managed to untangle herself from Justin. She was gone and back in the blink of an eye. She was confident that we would be able to complete the mission without a hitch. With that said we all made our way back down to camp and to meet Hayley’s family. I noticed that Justin went to stand with Hayley again and I was very curious about is something was going on with them. I left Jess with her friends and walked over to John.
“What are your thoughts?” I asked him quietly so the others would not hear.
“With Hayley’s family coming to help I think we have a high chance. Justin freaked out a little when he saw the aliens and the women, but all in all I think he will cope and be a good member to our team”
“He seems very friendly with Hayley” I pointed out.
“I noticed that too” he chuckled
When we got back to camp John grabbed a pad and pencil and started to draw a map of the area. We could have used my tablet, but the paper would be easier for everyone to see. We started to make a plan of how to get in and get he humans out. The guards did not seem that on to it and the men were all near the edge. We would be able to get them out easily, but the women were all in the middle of the camp and naked. We could not free them without also finding clothes for them all to wear.
As we were planning Hayley got up and ran into the arms of a man she called Grandpa. The guy looked to be the same age as Bob and John. The joys of been a born vamp and being able to pause your aging at a time that you decide. Personally, I would have done it sooner, I think being forever thirty would be amazing. Old enough to be respected, yet young enough to still have fun.
“That was quick” John mumbled
“They arrived when we were scoping out the camp” I told him “They waited for us to get back before the showed themselves. They didn’t want to scare Alice and Bob by suddenly appearing”
“I am worried about Bob” John sighed “He is so quiet, and I am not sure he is really coping with everything”
I agreed with him, I only saw him once when I first stayed the night with Jess. But he did not come across as someone who would be this quiet. I watched him as Justin got his heart broken when Hayley told him she would not change him as it would make things awkward with Jess. I could see that he did not take the comment to just be about changing him. He was taking it as rejection that she would not be with him. Let’s be honest, a human and a vampire could not be together long term, the vamp would not age and the human would age and eventually die.
