Jess’s POV
Kieran drove around the back of the warehouse and entered through the garage. I had never been in this entrance and was surprised at how many cars were parked here.
“Are they normally this number of cars here?”
“No this is a big meeting with departments from the entire world”
“Are you sure that I should be here then?”
“Jess you are a member of this team. So yes, you should be here” He took my hand and led me into a room what was huge and full of people. Kieran kept hold of my hand and lead me to a seat near the front of the room. He sat down next to me. “It’s ok Jess just relax”
I took a deep breath and sat back in my chair and looked around. That’s when I noticed that everyone else was dressed like Kieran in black suits, even the women where in black suits. Some were in black skirts, and some were in pants. I looked down at was I was wearing and cringed. I was dressed in my school uniform. I felt self-conscious about how short my skirt was. I felt like a child how had snook into a parent meeting.
“Damn it Kieran you could have taken me home to get changed first”
“Why you look really good”
“Yeah, but I stand out a bit don’t you think? I am in a school uniform”
“Yeah, about that you are about to stand out even more. Please don’t kill me I love you”
I was about to tell him that I loved him too when special agent Grahams grabbed me from behind.
“Thank god your here come with me” He did not give me time to answer but grabbed me by the arm and started dragging me along beside him.
“What’s going on?”
“You are going to address this group of people with me”
I put my brakes on then. “What? Why me? Would Kieran not be better at that job then me?”
“No. Now come on” He picked me up then and carried me on to the makeshift stage and made me stand there next to him. I felt heat rush to my face. Everyone in the room was looking at me. I scoped out the room to try and find Kieran. He was sat with a worried look on his face he gave me a weak smile when our eyes met.
“Ok let’s get this meeting started. Firstly, I would like you all to meet Jess she is the newest member of our team and one of the most gifted”
I stood looking at the crowed “Hi” I lifted my hand in greeting. I felt like I was the alien the way that they were all looking at me.
“I am sorry, but she is just a kid what can she possibly know” The person who spoke out was a tall slim woman in her 40’s.
“Okay Jess the lady who just spoke I want you to tell me the impression you get from her. I want you to tell us how old you think she is and if she is married and anything else that comes to you”
“Um ok then. I started to concentrate, and it all came to me. She is 44 years old widowed with 3 kids. Her husband used to drink and beat her and the kids. One night she had had enough, and she put the pillow over his face while he was sleeping in the chair. He was drunk when he went to sleep so she put him in the car and drove to the river she put him in the driver’s seat, moved the transmission to drive and watched the car sink with her husband in it” I stopped and stared at the woman “Your name is Jill Harrison”
“How the hell did you know that? I told no one about my husband’s death, no one. Not even my children know” Jill burst in to tears and was taken away
“My god Jess I did not know your gift was that strong” Kieran had climbed on to the stage to be next to me. He wrapped me in his arms.
“I had no idea that I even had a gift. Wait a second how the hell did you guys know that I had a gift before I did?”
“Because we knew about it” Hayley walked up the steps to the stage. Amber and Christina were right behind her. “My parents noticed the signs when we were about 15 and then when you turned 16 you went different. You did not want to be friends with us anymore and I know why. You could read our minds you knew what we were, and you were scared so you rebelled and went to hang with the street kids. You knew what they were from the start. While you were hanging out with them you learnt how to shield your gift. You just managed to shield it so well that you stopped using it. Well unless you need it sub concisely. Like for example to break into a secret service headquarters”
“What are you talking about?”
“Come on Jess think back or even better read my mind”
“I can’t Hayley please don’t make me do this. Amber, help me here”
“I can’t Jess you need to do this, you’re my best friend and I missed you, but you need to know what I am before we can be as close as we used to be”
“For fuck’s sake fine” I started to cry “My three best and closest friends are not as they seem. Hayley is a vampire but not a made one she is born this way. Amber and Christina are witches, but I think that Amber is more of a bitch. There now that’s all said, and I have found out that one of your staff is a murder can I go now?”
“No. I am your boss and I will tell you when you can go now toughen up and tell everyone what you discovered about the alien so that we might be able to stop it doing whatever it plans to do”
“Well, you’re a softie, aren’t you?” I growled “Fine” I stood with my eyes shut and went back to been in the room with Delica. I was surprised how quickly it all came to me. I could remember everything that she had been thinking.
“She will be on her way back to her planet to tell her leader that we breed the same way that they do. Their plan is to come here and rape women so that they can reproduce. We have a few years to wait though before they get here”
“How long are a few years?” asked Grahams
“It will take her a about ten years as they need to make the cages and train and assemble their troops”
“Thank you Jess you have been a great help. Kieran can you please take Jess and her Friends home now? Everyone else is also dismissed. The leaders will all meet now and discuss the action to be taken”
