Chapter 70 Where Else Can I Go

Aria's POV

When Draco asked me that question, I just stared at him, totally confused.

I had come here to find him, but now it seemed like he didn't want me around. With the Frostbite Pack gone and no place for me in the SilverBlade Pack, I was pretty much homeless.

Going back to vampire territory was out of the question. Lucien would find me in no time, and that would put the baby in danger.

And the dragon clan? They always looked down on werewolves. Without Draco's protection, I'd only get bullied there.

It was ludicrous. In this huge world, there was no place for me.

But even if the universe was against me, I had to fight for my chance.

Tears streamed down my face as I looked straight at Draco. "Where can I go? Where can a werewolf pregnant with a dragon's child go?"

Draco froze, staring at me in shock, then quickly glanced at my belly. "You're pregnant?"

"Yeah, I'm pregnant. So what are you gonna do about me and this baby?" I locked eyes with him, trying to look as aggrieved as possible.

"I'm sorry; I didn't know you were pregnant or that you had nowhere to go. No, that's not what I'm trying to convey. I thought after everything that happened, you wouldn't want to stay with me. My mind's a mess right now, and I don't even know what I'm saying," Draco mumbled, looking all flustered.

I gave him a bitter smile. "Calm down and think about what you want to say."

Draco took a few deep breaths and then said, "Aria, what I'm about to say is long, but it's all from my heart. Please, just listen to me, okay?"

I nodded.

Draco jumped right in. "Last time, to get rid of the poison in my body, I had sex with Serena. You had Serena tell me you didn't want to see me again, so I thought you were angry, heartbroken, and wanted to cut ties with me."

I remembered that. I did have Serena tell him that, but not because he slept with her. I thought I could use Michael's men to capture or even kill Jason, but Draco had Serena send people to protect Jason instead. I was so mad at the time, so I said that without thinking Draco would misunderstand.

Draco helped me sit down on the soft grass and continued, "In truth, I am painfully aware that our initial intimacy was something I coerced, and this is why you have always been reluctant to be involved with me. And then I slept with Serena... It's my fault, so I have no right to bother you anymore."

How could he possibly think that? What a dumb man! I had tried everything to seduce him, just to make him chase after me and do things for me! But here he was, the mighty king of the dragon clan, putting himself down like this.

Draco held my hand and pressed it against his cheek. "I planned to never bother you again. But it's too hard. I can't stop thinking about you. I always wonder how you're doing. I've wanted to tell you I love you so many times, but I betrayed you, so I don't have the right to say it."

It was hard to believe that the king of the dragon clan really loved me. And honestly, "I love you" had lost its charm. Noah said it, Lucien said it, and now Draco too.

But Noah ended up with Victoria, who almost killed me, and Lucien freaked out when he found out I was pregnant.

I should face the truth; no one really loved me anymore.

I clenched my fists, digging my nails into my palms, trying to keep my emotions in check.

Draco kept talking, "I just wanted to tell you I miss you so much. But I'm so conflicted. Sometimes I wonder what right I have to be near you. Other times, I ask myself why I don't seek you out and why I'm so cowardly."

His words were touching, but I couldn't let them get to me. I knew they were probably fake. But to keep this act going, I pulled Draco into a hug and said, choking up, "Don't say anymore. I'm sorry; I shouldn't have said those things out of sadness."

Draco stiffly let me hug him and tentatively asked, "So, you mean you weren't really angry. You still..."

I nodded, forcing a sad smile. "Seeing you and Serena together felt like a knife in my heart. I couldn't face it, so I ran away. I waited for you for so long... I thought you'd come find me, but you never did."

As I said these words, my heart ached even more. The sorrow I had been pretending now seeped into authenticity. "Draco, I really waited for you for a long time and thought you didn't want me anymore."

"No!" Draco suddenly hugged me tightly. "I didn't abandon you!"

We hugged each other tightly, finally clearing up the misunderstanding.

Draco excitedly wiped away my tears. "Aria, come back with me. Let me take care of you and our child."

I wiped the expression off my face and lowered my gaze. "I... Serena... she..."

Draco immediately explained, "Serena and I didn't take things any further! Believe me; the only bond between us is that she saved my life by curing my poison. I owe her my life, and that's it!"

Listening to Draco's explanation, I forced a smile.

Serena saved Draco's life, but Draco didn't have much feeling for her. With that, I couldn't help but wonder what Draco truly felt about me deep down in his heart.

I thought, 'He just said he loved me; maybe he's just infatuated with my body, or maybe it's because of the child I'm carrying. After I give birth, and after he loses interest in my body...'

Damn it, I needed to stop thinking about these pointless things!
