Chapter 68 Misunderstanding Deepens

Aria's POV

Lucien opened his mouth, but then just sighed. "Aria, I think you got it all wrong..."

"I don't want to hear it. Get out. I need to rest now." I cut him off. I knew exactly what he meant; he didn't want me to leave, he wanted me to get rid of the baby. The nerve of him! He wanted my body but not our child. I couldn't stand to hear such disgusting words.

Lucien looked like he wanted to say more, but he just left the room with the doctor.

I quickly packed some essentials and hid the backpack.

Until the child within me was dealt with, Lucien would not easily let me leave. He must have stationed someone outside to keep watch. I had to pack quietly and find the right moment to slip away.

Lucien's POV

When Aria fainted, I freaked out. I couldn't imagine my life without her, so I called for the doctor right away, but that damn doctor took forever to get here!

Seriously, vampire doctors need to work on their speed!

After what felt like ages, the doctor finally showed up. I shoved him towards Aria and told him to check on her quickly.

"No matter what, you have to save her and make her better, or you'll pay with your life," I threatened, my voice ice-cold.

The doctor was shaking like a leaf. "Yes, my king. Please wait a moment."

I watched anxiously as he examined Aria.

Ten minutes passed with no news. Just as I was about to push him, the doctor abruptly halted the examination and said, "This lady is pregnant. She's about a month along, and the baby is healthy."

"Are you sure?" I asked, stunned.

"Yes, my king, she's pregnant," the doctor repeated, sure of himself.

Aria was pregnant! I was going to be a dad! The excitement, the thrill, the joy—I couldn't even describe it!

But then I calmed down and asked, "If she's just pregnant, why would she have such a severe reaction?"

The doctor cleared his throat and said awkwardly, "It might be because you were too... enthusiastic during your activities. It's not serious; with proper rest, she'll be fine."

'Activities? Just say sex! You are still the doctor. There is no need to feel embarrassed. ' I thought.

The doctor hesitated and then added, "This lady is a werewolf and her health isn't great, so I suggest you and her should not..."

"I get it." I cut him off, not wanting to hear more. I just stared at Aria on the bed, feeling a mix of emotions.

Thinking about having a child with the woman I love, I wanted to make her my wife and have our baby. I couldn't let Aria stay hidden away in this remote place anymore.

But the doctor was right; Aria was a werewolf.

Even though vampires didn't really care about class or race, Aria had a complicated past. She used to be a slave in the SilverBlade Pack and was once adopted by Elysia. Marrying her would be like telling all the vampires that I was marrying the daughter of my mortal enemy.

They'd never go for it. Though I didn't need their approval, I knew Aria would yearn for their recognition.

For years, Aria had lived in hell, despised and humiliated by everyone. If marrying me meant she'd still be treated like that, it would break her heart.

No way. I couldn't let Aria suffer anymore! I wanted to make her the vampire queen, recognized by all vampires. It was a huge challenge, but for Aria, I'd do it.

I rubbed my forehead, feeling the weight of it all, and then another thought hit me; Aria didn't even want to make our relationship public. She might not want to have this baby.

Knowing her, she wouldn't keep the child unless she could give it the safest and best future. Regarding the matter of the child, I shall never yield to her wishes! This child was proof of our love, and I had to protect it.

"What happened to me?" Aria's weak voice broke through my thoughts.

Thank goodness, she was finally awake.

"What's wrong with me?" She didn't wait for my answer and looked at the doctor, worried.

"Ma'am, you're almost a month pregnant," the doctor said honestly, then gave a bunch of pregnancy precautions before leaving.

"I'm pregnant. I'm actually pregnant?" Aria looked at her belly in disbelief. Then she looked at me, and her expression turned sour.

Just as I feared, Aria didn't want this child!

"I'm leaving tomorrow," she said coldly.

Her words confused me. How could she not want to have our child? To avoid having the child, she would even choose to leave me?

"Where are you going?" I asked instinctively.

Aria's face darkened. "It's none of your business."

After a moment, she continued, "I know you're the king of vampires; you can let a lowly woman like me into your bed, but you'd never let me bear your child."

No! That wasn't true!

Her voice wavered, but her face stayed stern. "But I want to keep this child; he's the last person in this world who shares my blood. Please don't take him away from me, okay?"

I couldn't believe my ears; she wanted to keep the child!

"What did you say? You want to keep the child?" I shouted, shocked and excited that the woman I loved wanted to have our baby.

But seeing my reaction, Aria's expression got even worse.

Then it hit me—there was a huge misunderstanding here.
