Chapter 60 Wait for Me to Avenge You

Noah Brooks' POV:

I yanked Aria's claws out of Harper and immediately shouted at Owen to get Harper some help. She couldn't die here, no way!

Aria let out a furious roar at me.

Seeing her face all tear-streaked and her eyes puffy, my heart twisted in pain too.

But I couldn't let her recklessness put her in danger.

I sighed and tried to explain, "Right now, you're just a slave. If you kill a noble, do you know what'll happen to you?"

But Aria began laughing hysterically, leaving me clueless about what was going on in her head.

Seeing her laugh and cry at the same time, I knew she was in serious pain inside.

"Get out." Aria stopped laughing and pointed at the door, ordering me to leave.

Wait! She must've misunderstood me. She thought I was looking down on her! That wasn't it! I couldn't let this misunderstanding go on!

Otherwise, who knew what kind of clash would happen between us?

I tried to explain. But Aria didn't want to hear a word from me.

She punched the cabinet next to me. I watched as her hand smashed against it! Blood instantly gushed from her skin!

This foolish Aria! She always acted recklessly when she was mad.

If she really needed to vent, she could punch me. At least I wouldn't let her get hurt.

I took her hand, delicately wiped away the blood, and blew on it gently to alleviate her pain.

"Get out! Do you hear me? I never want to see you again!" Aria shook off my hand and yelled, driving me out of the room.

I stood at the door, quietly watching her.

Losing her best partner caused her too much pain. I couldn't leave her alone in the room.

I watched as Aria collapsed to the ground, as if all her strength had been drained, and crawled bit by bit towards Grace.

She grabbed Grace's hand and cried like a newborn baby. I watched as she pressed Grace's hand against her own face. She didn't care at all that the bloodstains were dirtying her face.

I sat down against the wall and pounded my chest.

It was my fault. If I were strong enough, capable enough to protect her, I wouldn't have to worry about so much and could let her do whatever she wanted, even including killing Harper to avenge Grace!

I couldn't remain powerless. I had to become stronger to lead the entire SilverBlade Pack!

Aria was a free spirit, who shouldn't be confined but should run freely on the plains.

And to let Aria run freely on the plains without any obstacles, I must help her clear the way! I needed to become stronger and help her!

Aria Davis's POV:

A severe headache made me suddenly open my eyes.

"Ms. Davis, you're finally awake." Aurora came over and handed me a cup of hot milk.

I carefully observed the room's layout.

The room was clean and tidy, with no trace of blood.

Could it be that everything before was just a dream?

"Aurora, Grace, she..." I tentatively opened my mouth, hoping to get answers from Aurora.

Aurora lowered her eyes, "You've been out for days. I figured if you woke up, you wouldn't want to see Grace suffer from insect bites. So, I treated her wounds, changed her clothes, and buried her in the corner of the yard."

She pointed to a small mound in the yard from the window.

So it wasn't a dream. My Grace, she was really gone.

I tried to get up to go to Grace's grave, but my legs had no strength! Aurora helped me to the window.

I leaned against the window, looking at Grace's grave from afar.

'Grace, wait for me. I will avenge you. Everyone who hurt you will pay!'

Including Noah, who stopped me from avenging you!

"Aurora, do you think good people really go to heaven after they die?" I asked.

Aurora nodded. "Of course, all good people enjoy the best life in heaven, and those evil people will definitely suffer in hell. But you should rest in bed now."

I attempted to muster my strength once more, but my legs remained numb. Aurora helped me lie down on the bed. I looked at my numb legs. "What's wrong with my legs?"

Aurora bit her lip, hesitating.

I tightly held Aurora's hand. "Aurora, I have no one else to trust. I hope you can be honest with me."

Aurora's eyes immediately reddened. "The doctor said your legs aren't injured physically; it's a psychological issue."

What did Aurora mean by a psychological issue?

Aurora continued to explain, "The doctor said you were devastated by Grace's death, which made you lose the will to live. Your body wasn't badly hurt, so you survived, but your legs are paralyzed."

I took a deep breath, suppressing the inexplicable sadness in my heart. "How long until my legs recover?"

"The doctor doesn't know either. He said it entirely depends on your own will." Aurora shook her head and added, "If you can adjust your mindset, your legs will recover quickly. But if you can't, your legs will atrophy over time."

They would atrophy over time, which meant I either recover quickly or remain crippled for life.

When would the cruel and blind God stop playing these boring jokes on me?

No, this was not the time to be sad. I still had so many grudges to settle. How could I be sad for life?

I must stand up quickly, but before that, I had something more important to do.

"Aurora, can you do something for me?" I stared directly into Aurora's eyes.

Aurora didn't hesitate and immediately nodded. "Of course, whatever you ask, I will do my best to complete it."

I looked into Aurora's eyes, reminding her of the danger of this task. "Think it through. Completing this task won't benefit you at all. But if you fail, our situation will be worse than now."

Aurora smiled and still didn't hesitate. "You saved my life. So, I will do anything you ask with all my might."

It was great to have a true friend by my side!

"I need to see someone. The man who was injured in my room that night. You know, he's a vampire. If you deliver a message to him and get caught..." I hesitated.

"I'd be happy to do this for you, I'm just a regular werewolf. How am I supposed to get to vampire turf?" Aurora asked worriedly, frowning.

I looked around from the window and then whispered in Aurora's ear, "He's in this estate now."
